3 MASS STORAGE AT ITS BEST Highly Available Mass Storage The VSTOR Vault SAS array series incorporates the latest 12 Gbit SAS technology into the VSTOR Vault mass storage product family. The VS3 12 Gbit SAS series is ideal for shared storage and virtualized environments. These arrays offer exceptional flexibility, scalability, and performance. Similar to the other models in the VSTOR Vault product family, the SAS series has chassis options for twelve and twenty-four drives, and a 4U dense array option supporting up to 60 drives. Models with 8 GB cache dualcontrollers can connect up to four highly available servers or eight non-redundant servers for balanced performance in mixed physical and virtualized environments. Performance The VSTOR Vault VS 1200-D, VS 1220-D, and the space-optimized VS 3060e-D dense enclosure are direct-attach 6 Gbit SAS storage solutions supporting 12, 24, or 60-drives. They can be connected to VSTOR and EMA appliances, as well as other server systems, using the integrated or supplied SAS controllers. The newer VSTOR Vault VS 1400-D and VS 1420-D models are modern direct-attach 12 Gbit SAS storage systems that offer the same connectivity options. Capacity The VSTOR Vault VS 3060e-D dense enclosure was optimized for space and was designed to scale. It seamlessly integrates with other VSTOR and EMA appliances, as well as all other rack-mount server systems. Its small footprint takes up less space and saves on power and cooling. Using just 4U, the VS 3060e-D can scale to 180 hard drives when used with a VS dense array, and up to 240 hard drives when attached to a server. Supported hard drives include 3.5 or 2.5 SAS, near-line SAS, and SSDs. 10 CONTROLLER CARDS TECHNICAL DATA PERC H800 and H830 RAID Controllers with up to 2 GB Cache The PERC H800 SAS 6GB and PERC H830 SAS 12 GB RAID adapters provide reliable, efficient, and fault-tolerant disk subsystem management thanks to their superior RAID management capabilities. With up to 2 GB of cache memory, these expandable RAID adapters can boost the performance of your server systems. On-board support for dual-channel technology allows for high-speed connectivity, and the built-in battery backup module helps prevent data loss by providing extra security in case of power outages. These products have been tested and certified for use with ARTEC s direct-attached storage system. Both controllers can be used as an advanced storage management component and intelligent storage controller in any server that has an available PCI Express slot. 12 Gb/s SAS HBA Card The 12 Gb/s SAS HBA card is a Serially Connected SCSI (SAS) controller that offers a data throughput of up to 12 GB/s and ideal hardware performance. The 12 Gb/s SAS HBA card is a standard PCI-E half-length and half-height card that uses PCI-E 8x connectivity and offers support for external SAS tape storage, RBOD and JBOD. The card can be used with platforms providing either PCI-E x8 or PCI-E x16 slots and communicates with SAS devices using external 2x 4 MINI SAS HD connectors. The 12 Gb/s HBA card is also compatible with 6 Gb/s SAS drives.
