5 1. Scope This document is intended to provide the reader with an introduction and specifications for the G930 GSM TOP-UP Machine & payphone designed and manufactured by Function International, a Function Group Company. 2. Introduction The G930 GSM TOP-UP Machine & payphone allows ticketless vending of Minutes Of Use (MOU) for prepaid cellular service with coin and bill acceptor payment methods as well as payphone calling. The G930 can work directly with the service provider s system via USSD or GRPS for TOP-UP (recharge). It can also interface to Function s Refill System 4 (FSR4) an intermediate server that can communicate with multiple carriers / card centers. The G930 is designed to meet the stringent requirements of a public terminal and to provide a simple, friendly graphical user interface and a high visibility point for advertising. The G930 is remotely programmable and monitored by Function s RAMS-IP utilizing GPRS data communications. 3. Basic Operation The G930 is powered by 12VDC that can be derived from the included AC/DC adapter or from other sources such as an optional solar power system. There is an internal battery for operation during periods of power failure. Internally there is a computer (CPU) that performs calculations, processes data from the peripheral assemblies and communicates with a remote access management system (RAMS-IP). The G930 provides user instructions through the large color graphic LC display. A standard 12-button keypad provides the user the facility for dialing the desired destination number. Four function keys enable user controlled operations such as handset receive volume, language, new-call, and redial. The CPU analyzes the digits dialed and calculates a rate for the initial period. The user receives a prompt on the display to deposit the required amount. An electronic coin scanner measures the diameter, thickness and metal content of the coins deposited and either accepts them into the escrow or returns them to the user via the coin return assembly. The bill validator analyzes the inserted bill and if valid holds it in escrow until the transaction is complete. If the bill is determined not to be valid or the transaction is cancelled the bill will be returned to the user. Once the required deposit amount is achieved the CPU will send the required digits to GSM module. Automatic translation of the user-dialed number allows least cost routing. Upon receipt of a signal from the local exchange that indicates the called party has answered, the terminal will collect the escrowed funds. If the call is not completed the coins/ bill are returned to the user. For TOP-UP / Recharge the user is presented with a menu of options and is prompted for the required information. Based on the user s selection the G930 will Version: G

6 request the amount of funds to be deposited. Once the correct amount of coins or correct bill denomination is inserted the G930 will process the transaction. Upon receipt of acknowledgement that the transaction was completed terminal will collect the escrowed funds. If the transaction is not completed the coins/ bill are returned to the user. The CPU collects data related to the transaction types, the money collected, operating statistics and any functional abnormalities. This data is reported to RAMS-IP immediately or at a pre-defined time as warranted by the data type. RAMS-IP stores the data in a database that can be used to supply operations and management with information needed to run a successful operation. RAMS-IP can also re-program the phone with partial or complete software programs and parameters as required. 4. General Features 4.1 The G930's vandal-resistant design allows it to be installed in non-supervised environments such as shopping centers, grocery stores, convention centers, hotels, airports, subway stations, bus terminals, train stations, and other public places. 4.2 The G930 uses the GSM network for voice and data connection. The G930 can be powered from a AC to DC converter or batteries / solar panel chargers. 4.3 The G930 uses a new generation processor with the following features: 80MHz, 1.56 DMIPS/MHz, 32-bit MIPS M4K Core 512K Flash (plus 12K boot Flash) 32K RAM (can execute from RAM) RUN, IDLE, and SLEEP modes Multiple clock modes for each power mode, enables optimum power settings Fail-Safe Clock Monitor allows safe shutdown if clock fails Hardware RTCC (Real-Time Clock and Calendar with Alarms) Watchdog Timer with separate RC oscillator 4.4 The G930 is designed with 3 Volt technology to operate with lower power consumption. 4.5 The G930 is equipped with a 2GB Micro SD card memory, providing ample space for 100+ LC display ads 4.6 The G930 uses the GPRS data network for communication to Function s Remote Access Management System (RAMS-IP) at speeds up to 85.6K bps. Bi-directional communication is achieved by RAMS-IP sending encrypted SMS messages to the G930 requesting the phone to call back to RAMS-IP. GPRS is also used for communicating TOP-UP transactions to a card center. 4.7 The G930 uses the GPRS data network for communication to Function s Remote Version: G

Remote Access Management System with Internet Protocol (RAMS-IP) The G930 operates with the Remote Access Management System (RAMS-IP), a software based payphone management system. RAMS-IP must be connected to a high speed internet connection with a static IP address. The payphones will communicate with this IP address via a TCP/IP connection. RAMS-IP may communicate with our GSM payphones located anywhere in the world. This innovative system provides the ability for the customer to: Remotely upload the G930 Series Station Message Details Records (SMDR) into a database for analysis. Remotely download rate data, operating properties, and new software revisions to the payphone. Verify the status of the payphone by uploading the diagnostics file. Monitor the phones for alarms Generate reports of the data collected Minimum Configuration In the basic configuration the three software functions - database service, communication server (between the management system and the payphone), and the operator interface - are integrated into a single computer system. This configuration can support up to 5000 payphones, depending on system configuration, number of users, and the activity level of the phones. Distributed Configurations RAMS-IP may be configured with a dedicated communications server, a file server, and workstations connected via a LAN or WAN. RAMS-IP Functions Data Transfer At pre-set times the payphone will call RAMS-IP to download information regarding operation status and activity history for revenue tracking (revenue collected from local, long distance and international calls), number of calls made during a given period, and self-test results. Version: G

19 Alarms The payphones can be called from RAMS-IP individually or in batches. The batches can be set to run automatically. In order for RAMS-IP to contact the phones it sends an SMS message to the phone to tell the phone to connect to the RAMS-IP IP address. In the event of detectable event the payphone will immediately report its status to RAMS-IP. Properties The customer can edit the properties for each group of phones to customize the way that they operate. Changes can be sent immediately or during the next communication session. Site Maintenance Addition, deletion and modification of phone details is performed as needed from the user interface. Changes can be sent immediately or during the next communication session. Valid Number List The operator has the capability to add, update and delete valid numbers and how they are actually dialed to the network. Rerouting, data collection and rate definitions are associated with each valid number as required. Changes can be sent immediately or during the next communication session. Rate Tables The operator has the capability to add, update and delete rate tables that define the amount to be charged for each valid number based on the time of day, day of week, and holiday. Changes can be sent immediately or during the next communication session. Coins The operator has the capability to add, update and delete valid coins to the tables that will be sent to the phone. The value and size of each coin can also be changed. Changes can be sent immediately or during next the communication session. Report Creation and Generation RAMS-IP provides a number of reports for use by technicians and management. Additional reports may be created using optional report writers linked to the database. Data Base Clean Out RAMS-IP is designed so that unneeded information may be purged from the system manually or automatically. Version: G
