8 WHAT TO DO IF. 8.1 THE UNIT DOES NOT START UP ( LED on the base board for mains power off, green LED on the address board off, other LEDs off) Check: a) that the mains power supply is present; b) that 24V ac is supplied downstream of the supply voltage transformer; c) that the 24V ac power connector is correctly fitted into the specific support (1 Fig A1); d) that the protection fuse is in good condition (8 Fig A1); e) that the telephone cable connecting the terminal (if present) to the base board is correctly connected (2 Fig A1). Figure A1 27

8.2 WHEN SWITCHED ON ONE OF THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS OCCURS: alarm LED on LCD without any message buzzer on Check: a) that the EPROM has been fitted with the correct polarity; b) that the feet were not bent when fitting the EPROM; c) that the microprocessor chip has not been tampered with: if it has, call the service centre. 8.3 INCORRECT INPUT SIGNAL READINGS Check: a) that the probe wires have been correctly connected; b) that the base board and probes are correctly supplied. 8.4 EEPROM FAULT ALARM a) Contact Climaveneta. 8.5 DOUBTFUL INPUT ALARM SIGNAL Check: whether the input alarm signal is present by measuring the voltage between the common terminal IDCM1 or IDCM2 and the digital input terminal indicating the alarm idn : if there is a voltage of 24V ac, depending on the supply used by the digital inputs) the contact of the connected alarm device is open, meaning that there is an alarm. If the voltage is 0V ac the contact is closed and there is an alarm. 8.6 INCORRECT INPUT SIGNAL READINGS Check: a) that the probe wires are correctly connected; b) that there is no high thermal resistance between the sensor and any probe pocket. If necessary put conductive paste or oil into pockets to guarantee a good degree of temperature transmission. c) if there is a probe error, different checks are performed depending on the type of probe: Active temperature/humidity probes with 1V-1V signal: the probe signal is measured with a voltmeter between the terminals Bn and AVSS. Relation between voltage and size is of 10mVdc every C/%RH; Pressure probes: should there be errors in the readings of these probes check that: the analog inputs of these probes are set to accept 4-20mA signals; the scale limits set on the software correspond to the probes used; The voltage at the ends of the terminals Bn and AVSS is measured with a voltmeter to indirectly obtain the current of the probe signal, as the input has impedance of 50 ohm (I=V/R). The pressure value Ps sent by the probe is found as follows (FS=Top of Scale): Ps=(Vmis/50-0,04) x ((FSmax-Fsmin)/0,016+Fsmin. 28

the probe capillary is not blocked. NTC probes: the probe signal is an ohm value that depends on the temperature. Below are some resistance values at different temperatures. By disconnecting the probe from the interface input and measuring its resistance with a multimeter, the corresponding temperature value can be obtained by consulting the table. C Kohm C Kohm C Kohm SERIAL CONNECTION WITH LOCAL SUPERVISOR DOES NOT FUNCTION Check: a) that the serial card is present and correctly connected; b) that the unit ID number has been correctly set; c) that the serial cables have been correctly connected. 8.8 CONNECTION WITH REMOTE SUPERVISOR DOES NOT FUNCTION Check: a) that the Gateway (if present) and modems are supplied with power; b) that the Gateway (if present) is correctly programmed; c) that the mode used complies with the one used by Climaveneta. 8.9 THE USER TERMINAL IS BLOCKED (IT DOES NOT RESPOND WHEN KEYS ARE PRESSED) Check: a) that the terminal has not been disconnected and re-connected to the base board without waiting for 2-3 seconds. In this case switch the controller off and back on with the terminal connected; b) that the EPROM has been correctly installed. 29

9 PROCEDURE FOR TERMINAL CONFIGURATION The first operation to perform when a network is started up for the first time or an I/O board is replaced, is to activate the procedure for terminal configuration. Before starting this procedure it is advisable to check that each I/O board and each terminal has been identified with the correct address established when the network was designed. It is important to remember that the address set with the dip-switches is only received if the device is reset. Moreover, it is advisable to perform global resetting of all network devices if a mistake has been made in the configuration of the addresses (more than one board with the same address). The configuration procedure must be activated from any terminal, which may also be connected temporarily only to perform configuration operations and removed upon completion. The following operations must be performed: A.SETTING THE ADDRESS OF EACH DEVICE USING THE DIP-SWITCHES With regard to the board addresses (that can be configured with the dip switches) the following addresses are valid: 1, 3, 5, 7 for the boards 2, 4, 6 for the boards 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 for the UNIT KEYBOARD 16 for the REMOTE KEYBOARD If there is a single unit the following addresses are used: 1 for the board for the UNIT KEYBOARD OFF for the REMOTE KEYBOARD B. BOARD CONNECTION (Fig A 2)

Figure A 2 C. I/O BOARD SELECTION The procedure is activated by pressing the keys simultaneously for at least 5 seconds: If the display is the LCD type the following box is viewed: Terminal Adr: nn I/O Board Adr: 01 31

The field Terminal Adr is fixed and represents the address of the terminal which is being used, set using the dip-switches at the rear of the keyboard. The field I/O Board Adr initially views the address of the board currently connected to the terminal (it must be the same as the Master Board address). If the terminal is not connected to any board the message is viewed. This setting can be adjusted using the arrow keys to force the connection with another control. The values viewed during selection are the addresses of boards actually connected to the network. If no controller is currently active the message cannot be changed. Press the Enter key to exit from the first stage of the procedure, which is resident in the terminal, and access the proper terminal configuration box (see point D). D. SELECTING ASSOCIATED TERMINALS In LCD displays the boxes that can be viewed are: Terminal Config Press ENTER to continue Enter P:01 Adr Priv/Shared Trm1 09 Pr Trm2 16 Sh Trm3 None -- Ok? No Pr = Unit keyboard Sh = Remote keyboard In this box the Enter key moves the cursor from one field to another and the UP-DOWN keys change the current value of the field. The message P:01, in this case indicates that the I/O board with the address 01 has been selected. To exit from the configuration procedure and memorise, select the field Ok? No and use the cursor keys to select Yes then press Enter. To exit without memorising wait for 30 seconds without pressing any keys. 32
