3 Safety Notices IMPORTANT: Disconnect display, DirectCommand components and flow meter from electrical system when welding on or jump starting equipment to prevent component damage due to power surges or excessive current. CAUTION: Hydraulic equipment should be on mechanical safety stops, machine systems turned off and all machine motion stopped before starting work. IMPORTANT: Disconnect battery ground; by not disconnecting battery ground you may damage machine or components during the installation. IMPORTANT: Check behind vehicle and implement panels for any hoses, wiring, controls, etc. that could be damaged when drilling mounting holes for Control Modules. NOTE: Be sure to follow the alignment keys on the plugs and the receptacles carefully. Do not use excessive force when mating the connectors. 7 Mounting the Direct Injection Control Module Step-by-Step Procedure for Mounting the Control Module Parts required for procedure: From the DirectCommand Kit: (1) Module Mounting Hardware Kit PN: (1) Direct Injection Control Module PN: Optional: Module Mounting Kit PN: The Cable is three feet long so the Direct Injection Control Module PN: must be mounted where the cable will reach from the module to the injection pump. Mount the Direct Injection Control Module above the injection pump to protect the module from chemical spills. Module mounted to tank support using Optional Module Mounting Kit 2. 8 Installing the Power and CAN Bus Cables Step-by-step for Installing the Power and CAN Bus Cables Parts required for procedure: From the DirectCommand Kit: (1) CAN Bus Stub PN: (1) Power Cable PN: (1) Y-Splice PN: Separately Purchased parts: (1) CAN Bus Line See Table 1 Optional Parts: (1) Power Cable Extension See Table 2 1. Connect the Power Cable PN: directly to the battery or to a 12-volt power stud and ground stud in the unit s power center. NOTE: If connecting power leads to the batteries follow the chart above to be sure that the DirectCommand system is powered by 12 volts negative ground only. Page 8 of 12 June 2008 RevB

9 2. Locate the previously installed CAN Bus cables. These will be connected to the existing product control modules. NOTE: To properly connect and disconnect the CAN Bus terminals, firmly pinch the metal clip against the plastic connector and then connect or disconnect the ends as needed. 3. Remove the CAN Bus Terminator from the last CAN Bus Y-Splice. Save the terminator for reinstallation in step seven. 4. Connect one end of the CAN Bus Line PN: X to the Y- Splice. 5. Route the Power Cable and the CAN Bus line to where the Direct Injection Control Module will be mounted. NOTE: Route cables avoiding pinch points, sharp edges and allowing extra slack where needed. Secure cables with nylon wire ties. 6. Connect the Power Extension Cable, if needed, to the Power Cable and route the Power Extension Cable to the. Select the correct length Power Extension Cable from Table Connect the Y-Splice PN: to the end of the CAN Bus Line routed from the Liquid Product Control Module. Connect the CAN Bus Terminator saved from step three to the black side of the Y-Splice. 8. Connect the CAN Bus Stub PN: to the gray side of the Y- Splice. The square 4-pin Deutsch plug connects to the gray 4-pin Deutsch receptacle marked CAN BUS on the Direct Injection Control Module. 9. The gray 2-pin Deutsch plug on the Power Cable or the Power Cable Extension connects to the gray 2-pin Deutsch receptacle on the red and black wires coming from the Direct Injection Control Module June 2008 RevB Page 9 of 12

10 Installing the Injection Pump Cable Parts required for procedure: From the DirectCommand Kit: (1) Direct Injection Cable PN: OPTIONAL: (1) Agitation Cable PN: Agitation Motor Cable CAN Bus Stub Connections for Direct Injection and CAN Bus Cables With Optional Agitation Motor Cable Step-by-Step Procedure for Installing the Injection Pump Cable 1. Connect the brown 12-pin Deutsch plug of the Direct Injection Cable PN: to the brown 12-pin Deutsch receptacle marked AUXILIARY on the Direct Injection Control Module. 2. If you are installing the Optional Agitation Motor Cable PN: follow steps three through six, if not skip to step seven. 3. Connect the gray 2-pin Deutsch receptacle of the Agitation Motor Cable to the 2-pin Deutsch plug on the Power Cable. 4. Connect the gray 2-pin Deutsch plug of the Agitation Motor Cable to the gray 2-pin Deutsch receptacle on the red and black wires coming from the Direct Injection Control Module. 5. Remove the dust plug from the 1-pin Weather Pack receptacle on the Direct Injection Cable. Connect the 1-pin Weather Pack plug on the Agitation Motor Cable to this Weather Pack receptacle. 11 Agitation Cable connected to agitation motor wiring 6. Route the opposite end of the Agitation Motor Cable to the agitation motor connections. Connect the 1-pin and the 2-pin Weather Pack plugs to the 1-pin and 2-pin Weather Pack receptacles on the agitation motor wiring. 7. Connect the black 2-pin Deutsch receptacle of the Direct Injection Cable to the gray 2-pin Deutsch plug on the red and black wires coming from the Direct Injection Control Module. Direct Injection Cable connected to injection pump wiring 8. Route the opposite end of Direct Injection Cable to the injection pump wiring. Connect the terminals as shown in picture June 2008 RevB Page 11 of 12

12 Flow meter connection 9. Some Sidekick pumps have two options for the flow monitor connection. Make certain that the Sidekick flow monitor connection is correct. The wire must be connected to the lead marked FLOW MONITOR SIGNAL CAN / SCS SIDEKICK. 10. Reconnect battery ground. Page 12 of 12 June 2008 RevB
