You re already halfway there. mass gauging + volume & level gauging = hybrid gauging A powerful combination There are two basic principles for measuring tank content: mass gauging and volume gauging. Combining them in a hybrid system provides fully automated tank gauging with custody transfer accuracy without the need for manual intervention. And with your present Hydrostatic Tank Gauging (HTG) system, you already have half of the hybrid system installed. Excellent system components The components installed in your current Rosemount HTG system are the best available for mass and pressure gauging. By adding a Rosemount TankRadar Rex, a non-contact radar gauge with excellent level accuracy, you ll create a hybrid system built from the best components on the market, securing top performance, custody transfer accuracy, and problem-free operation. The Rosemount Hybrid Tank Gauging system automatically provides accurate measurements for: Level Temperature Gross volume Standardized volume Density and mass On-line monitoring of transfer and inventory control The hybrid system eliminates the need for manual tank sampling or gauging. The important measured values for inventory control and volume-based custody transfer are level, product temperature, and density. All these measured values are automatically available in order to calculate gross volume, standard volume, and mass. Complete software package The hybrid system is delivered with Rosemount TankMaster, a Windows-based software package for standard PCs. TankMaster performs all hybrid calculations of gross volume, standard volume, observed density, reference density, and mass. It has a user-friendly Windows interface for tank monitoring, and also handles system setup and communication with the DCS or host computer.

All the existing cabling for the existing HTG system can normally be used. The existing infrastructure with the field bus from the control room to the AIM 3402 will instead be used for the Rex field bus. 2. The existing cabling from the AIM 3402 to the HIU 3201 will be used for the field bus communication to the Rex gauge. 3. The only additional cabling that is normally required is a two-pair cable from the position of the HIU 3201 up to the Rex level gauge for the power supply and field bus. If power is not available locally at the tank, a power cable has to be run to the closest power source. 4. The cable used to connect the P3 pressure transmitter to the HIU 3201 can be used to connect the P1 sensor to the HART bus input of the Rex gauge. An HTG system normally has a single spot temperature sensor (RTD) installed between the P1 and P2 pressure transmitters. In most cases the temperature transmitter can be reused, and connected directly to the Rex level gauge.

5 The upgrade kit. Rosemount TankRadar Rex gauge A non-contact radar gauge designed to deliver tank quantity data with maximum reliability and accuracy. Available in four versions, each designed for maximum performance within its specific field. Field Connection Unit A data concentrator that continuously polls data from the connected transmitters for storage in a buffer memory. When a request for data is received from the TankMaster PC or another host system, the FCU immediately sends the data from the updated buffer memory. Rosemount TankMaster A complete Windows-based PC software package that handles the setup, calculations, and output of your hybrid system. Tank cable Normally, the only complementary cabling needed is a two-pair cable for the power supply and the field bus from the (former) position of the HIU 3201 to the Rex gauge on the top of the tank. Multiple Spot Thermometer with integrated Water Level Sensor (optional) If net standard volume custody transfer accuracy is required, a multispot temperature sensor is recommended, especially if temperature stratification can be expected. Otherwise, a single spot temperature sensor is usually sufficient for normal inventory control.
