2 1 General instructions: Mount and put into service/start-up the KEMPER KTS-ComLog module only after reading these mounting and operating instructions. They inform you in detail about the mounting, commissioning, operating principles and operation of the ComLog module. Keep the mounting and operating instructions with the unit or file with other technical documentation in the system documentation. Operating principle The ComLog module in combination with one or more KEMPER KTS-ThermoBox(es) serves as the interface to upstream building automation systems. For that purpose, the ComLog module is linked with the bus cable of the KTS controller units. An additional ComLog module function is logging the system data and the actual values. The ComLog module has an SD card slot to accomplish that. Application range The ComLog module is intended solely for use in combination with KEMPER KTS- ThermoBoxes. Installation location Install the device solely in dry rooms. Subsequently connect the controllers of the KTS-ThermoBox(es) to each other via bus cable and to the ComLog module as illustrated in the following figure. To do that, you need to remove the upper part of the housing. KTS-ComLog module 3

(It must be possible to cutoff the 230V mains feed line through an emergency switch outside of the heating plant room (only applicable to plants > 50kW!) Warning: Only authorised specialists are permitted to connect the ComLog module. Danger of death if the controller to the 230V mains feed line is connected incorrectly. KTS-ComLog module 4

7 4.6 Function / LED check green flashing: internal Modbus communication active red light: electric power green flashing: external Modbus communication active red flashing: SD card recording SD card without function Figure 4.3 ComLog LED explanation 4.7 Operation Data storage of measured values To enable the ComLog module to save all measured values from the connected KTS components, first a log file in the DAT format must be created on the SD card. The log file will be configured by the Kemper service technician during commissioning and then transferred to the SD card. Based on the correspondingly configured file, the ComLog module creates a CSV file for every day with the saved measurements in the selected storage interval. The CSV files can be copied and opened and processed, for instance with Excel. After copying, the CSV files have to be deleted on the SD card. To read the data from the ComLog module, remove the upper part of the housing and take out the memory card. Note: Save excel files and delete files from SD card But ATTENTION: The correspondingly configured log file in the DAT format must remain on the SD card; otherwise the data will not be saved. 9 Configuring the log file: The configuration of the log file is explained below using the example of a KTS- ThermoBox as 2x cascade: Open the log file with the name DAT in MS-EXCEL. In Cell A1, state the intervals in which the values will be saved. In this example, a storage rate of one second is stipulated. If you want to save every 10 seconds, for instance, replace the 1 with a 10. As delivered: Time interval changed to 10 seconds: In the column under ModBus ID, select the corresponding ThermoBox from which to read out the data. Modbus ID 1 activates the master unit, and with ModBus ID 2, the slave unit is activated. With this configuration, all temperature values and volume flows of both cascade units are saved. Additional values can also be saved, or, if they are not necessary, they can be deleted. The data points, register addresses and the related settings can be taken from the KTS ModBus data-point list. 10 5 Maintenance and repair The measurements should be downloaded from the SD card in regularly scheduled intervals, but at a minimum interval of 3 months.
