3 Introduction Important Information This guide provides the basic information needed to install the Ag Leader ISO Liquid system on a sprayer. It is intended to be used by Ag Leader dealers who are trained and knowledgeable about the installation of such systems. It is important to read this guide prior to beginning the installation. This guide contains warnings of potential hazards, and a collection of best practices that will help your installation go smoothly, safely and be successful. Preliminary Installation Requirements Sprayer booms should be lowered to the ground or on mechanical safety stops before starting work. Do not work under sprayer booms supported by hydraulic system only. Turn off machine and wait for all motion to stop before starting work. Set parking brake. Check behind vehicle and implement panels for any holes, wiring or controls that could be damaged when drilling any holes. Disconnect the Display, DirectCommand components, flow meter and electrical system when welding on equipment or jump starting unit to prevent component damage due to power surges or excessive current. If using a non Ag Leader GPS receiver, make sure to install a Null Modem Cable, included in the Display Kit, to prevent damage to the Display or GPS receiver. Use Dielectric grease to coat the seals and terminals of each connector that will be exposed to weather or chemicals as you plug them in. Be sure to follow the alignment keys on the plugs and the receptacles carefully. Do not use excessive force when mating connectors. Turn on existing rate control console, if equipped, and copy down the boom section widths and flow meter calibration numbers. 2. Run the sprayer one last time to make sure all of the components are in working order before removing the console. Verifying that all of the rate control components work will help with any potential troubleshooting issues after the installation. 3. Turn off the existing rate control console. Disconnect the cable from the back of the console and remove the console from the vehicle. 4. Use the two U-bolts to attach the RAM Base Double U-Bolt to the rail where the existing console was previously mounted. 6

Use the 5 RAM Arm to mount the display to the previously mounted RAM Base NOTE: Mount the display in a convenient place for operation, but out of the operator s line of sight while operating the sprayer. 6. Connect the round connector(s) on the Display Cable to the mating connector(s) on the back of the AgLeader Display. 8 Installation Procedure: 1. Use the installation instructions in the cab bracket kit to install the modules. 2. Position the cab bracket on the floor underneath the right hand console. Leave room for cable installation. 8

Installation Procedure: 1. Connect the CAN Bus cables to the modules according to the line art in Figure 1. 9

10 2. Use the ISOBus InCommand Adapter to connect the display cable to the modules. 3. Use the CAN stub, CAN Y-splice, and CAN terminator to connect the auxiliary input module to CAN A on the display cable. 4. Plug the RADAR and SWITCH B receptacles of the auxiliary input module using the Deutsch dust plugs. Power Lugs 5. Connect the power cable to the power lugs of the battery. 10

11 6. Route the opposite end of the Power Cable towards the back right corner of the sprayer cab. 7. Remove the six screws holding the boot-retaining ring around the cables already entering cab. Thread the power cable through the boot and into the cab interior. 8. Reinstall boot-retaining ring. 9. Route and connect the power cable to the high current power splitter. 10. Use the high current power splitter to connect to both modules. 11. Connect the 3-pin Weatherpack tower to the mating shroud on the Display Cable. 11

Remove the five Phillips Head screws from the switch panel on the armrest. Save the screws. 2. Tee the Nitro boom cable into the 16-pin AMP connector coming from the hydro handle. 3. Route the opposite end of the switch cable through the bottom of the armrest toward the cab bracket. 4. Reinstall the switch panel cover and secure it with the five Phillips head screws. 5. Connect the Nitro boom cable to the appropriate connector on the auxiliary input module. 12

13 6. Connect the Nitro N4 adapter cable to the 31-pin connector along the right side of the cab. Route opposite end of adapter cable toward the cab bracket. 7. Connect the Nitro N4 adapter cable to the appropriate connnectors on the modules. 13

Refer to the feature user guide for setting up the display. 2. If the sprayer has 5 boom sections you will have to disable pin 1 in the software. This will enable the software to use pin 2 as section 1 to match up with the physical wiring of the machine. a. Press small wrench to edit swath configuration. b. Edit swath configuation 3. Enter the default settings from the following chart for the initial sprayer setup. 14

15 Setting Name Control Valve Configuration Default Value Pump Servo Description Rate control is achieved through speed changes to the solution pump. The pump servo setting is programmed to control an electric motor used to actuate a hydraulic valve to adjust the hydraulic flow to the pump. This valve adjusts the application rate indirectly. Valve Response Valve Response 2 24 Determines the speed of the servo valve when product control error exceeds the Response Threshold setting. Decreasing the value will cause the servo valve to run slower. Vlave Response 1 represents the fast speed of the servo valve. Determines the speed of the servo valve when product control error is less than the Response Threshold setting. Decreasing the value will cause the servo valve to run slower. Vlave Response 2 represents the slow speed of the servo valve. Response Threshold 10 Determines where the control system switches between using Valve Response 1 and Valve Response 2 speed settings. Decreasing this value will have the overall effect of speeding up servo valve response. Increasing this value will have the overall effect of slowing down servo valve response. NOTE: Leaving all other valve control settings at the default value and making a small adjustment to this setting is usually all that is required to fine tune the control system. Allowable Error 2% Determines the percent error that is allowed prior to the product control system making any flow rate corrections. 2-3% is the normal Allowable Error Range. Too low of a setting will cause the system to continually hunt for the target application rate. Too high of a setting will cause excessive application error. Manual Valve Speed Flowmeter Cal 50% See Note Determines the amount of change the manual increment/decrement will adjust the valve. Essentially this changes the amount of time the valve is driven for a servo valve. This is the pulses per gallon through the flow meter. NOTE: Verify that the flowmeter calibration number is correct by checking the information tag on the flowmeter. NOTE: Raven flowmeter calibration numbers are in pulses per 10 gallons of product flow. To calculate the appropriate values, divide the Raven calibration number by 10 before entering into the Ag Leader display. NOTE: If it becomes necessary to change the default settings, change one setting at a time so changes can be evaluated accurately. 15

16 Post-Installation Checklist Display Bracket and Display installed and all fasteners are tight. Control Modules installed and all fasteners are tight. All cable ends and terminations are connected. All cables are secured with cable ties. 16
