3 3 INTRODUCTION The Sigma 700 Series (Steam Generator) is a microcontroller based, state of the art, device offering unmatched performance and full user configurability. The 700 Series is used with a pressure transmitter whose output signal is compatible with 4/20MA. Process indication is displayed in alpha/numeric format on the controller s two line, alpha numeric backlit LCD display along with the current status of the unit s relay outputs. Six digital LED indicator lights (3 red and 3 green) provided for alarm and status indication. All aspects of the unit are user configurable through the plain English menus and combinations of the 3 user data key push buttons. Available in 2 styles of mounting, 1/4 DIN (4 X 4 nominal) and wall mounted Nema 4X enclosures, the 700 Series is suitable for installation in all industrial environments. 7 STEAM GENERATOR CONTROLS SEQUENCE OF OPERATION 7 General: The DHT steam generator controller is designed to control water temperature via pressure. The controller accepts a 4/20MA input at (AI1) from the system pressure transmitter. The displayed pressure is calibrated on the scaling screen of the controller. An internal Proportional, Integral, Derivative (P.I.D.) algorithm modulates the control valve (AO1) to maintain a user selected setpoint. In addition, a second analog input is provided (AI2) to allow remote change to the setpoint from the BAS. When the remote option is used this input will override the setpoint that was entered in the controller setpoint screen (valve output menu). Digital Inputs 5 digital inputs are provided as follows: DI1 DI2 DI3 DI4 DI5 Remote on-off from BAS. When this input is active, output to the control valve is shutdown. External reset button. Allows any active alarm to be reset from a remote location so long as the causal condition has been cleared. Input from the high water level switch. When the water level is high, the high water valve control output (DO3) will be active and the status OK light will be off and the Hi/Lo level light will illuminate. This input is operated by the low water level switch and opens the feedwater valve to replenish the system. Extreme low water level switch reiterates the action of DI4 and opens the feedwater valve. Digital Outputs There are 4 Form C relay outputs as follows: DO1 In the event that a pneumatic valve is utilized for pressure control DO1 will control an air feed solenoid to shut off air in the event of a high pressure alarm. The valve will reenergize when the pressure alarm resets. DO2 Operates the feedwater valve when the low water or extreme low water inputs (DI4, DI5) are active. Closes the feedwater valve when the high water switch (DI3) indicates that the water level has returned to normal range. DO3 Operates the high water level valve (if present). This output is deactivated if the high water float is activated. D04 Blowdown valve will operate based upon user selected timers in the Setpoints menu both interval and derivative can be selected.

8 PROGRAMMING AND SETUP 8 1) Upon power up, the opening screen shows the model number and the current revision level. Model # Revision Level 2) After the unit has completed its startup procedure, the current status screen will automatically appear. 3) To begin the programming sequence, press the button and the password screen appears. Use the buttons to enter the access password and to view a programming menu item such as SETPOINTS. 4) Press the button to access the SETPOINTS menu. Use the buttons to change the primary alarm on setpoint value, press to save and advance to the secondary alarm setpoints.

9 9 4) Press the button to advance to the BLOWDOWN TIMING screen to program the displayed value for the blowdown value timing. High Water Value Control HINT: HOLDING THE KEY FOR 3 SECONDS WILL SHOW THE PREVIOUS SCREEN. Set pressure setpoint for the High Water Value Action. Press to enter the SCALING menu. 4 digits are available for the process value display, use the buttons to select the number of decimal points required after the whole number, e.g , 60.00, 600.0, etc. Press to advance to the following scaling items and change as required: -- sets the displayed value for 4.0MA input. NOTE: INPUT FROM BAS AND OUTPUT TO BAS ARE AUTOMATICALLY SET TO THE SAME VALUES AS THE INPUT VALUES.

10 10 Press to save and advance to the VALVE OUTPUT Menu. Press to scroll through the P.I. settings: -- Press to view or adjust the current setpoint: Current Setpoint Current Output Press to vie or adjust gain setting. NOTE: Gain setting increases or decreases the speed of response to a load change. Press to view or adjust the integral setting. NOTE: Integral mode permits the controller to return to setpoint after a load change. Make small adjustments. Press to adjust the P.I. Deaband. NOTE: The bottom line shows the live output to the valve. This appears on all of the valve output screens. Deadband setting prevents cycling of the output around the setpoint.

11 11 Press to view and adjust the minimum output %. The output minimum may be limited by changing this setting. Press to view and adjust the maximum output %. Maximum output allowed can be limited to limit cycling. Press to view the Manual/Auto menu items. Press to select Automat (AUTO) or Manual Operation. Manual Output selected. Automatic Output selected. When Manual operation is selected, use the buttons to increase or decrease the output. Output Value Press to view Set Up menu.

12 12 Use buttons to enter a password if required. MAKE A NOTE OF IT. Make note. Enter a Filter number to slow the process. Increasing this number will slow the control process. Select an engineering unit from the list, use the buttons to scroll to the desired engineering unit. Control Action Selection Sets the PI control action output. Direct = output increases with an increase in process value. Reverse = output decreases with a decrease in process value Diagnostics Value of the analog input signal 4.20MA Relays that are active, Relay 1 and Relay 2 as shown. Sigma reserves the right to repair or replace at its option any product found to be defective. In no event shall Sigma Controls, Inc. be liable for any consequential, incidental, or special damages and the limit of its liability shall not exceed the purchase price of the supplied equipment. RETURN FOR REPAIR POLICY (WARRANTY/NON-WARRANTY REPAIR) Return status can be determined upon factory inspection of returned equipment. A completed Return Authorization form must accompany all items returned for repair. Repairs will be evaluated as quickly as possible.
