3 Who is the DECT Forum The DECT Forum is the international association of the wireless home and enterprise communication industry. DECT, DECT 6.0, J-DECT (Japan), DECT Security and CAT-iq are worldwide-adopted technologies with high relevance for wireless voice, broadband home and enterprise communication.

5 Market Adoption More than one billion DECT, DECT 6.0, J-DECT, DECT Security and CAT-iq devices have been sold worldwide, which continues to increase by over 100 million products per year. 6 DECT / ULE Regional Coverage Europe: DECT and ULE operate exclusively in license exempt spectrum in the range between 1880 MHz and 1900 MHz for both voice and data communication The Americas, Japan, Korea DECT in the Americas operates in the 1920 MHz to 1930 MHz UPCS band (DECT 6.0) DECT in Japan operates in the 1894 MHz to 1904 MHz (PHS) band (J- DECT). Korean DECT: The Korean DECT standard, launched in January 2007, operates between 1786 MHz and 1803MHz. Recent developments: ULE: Ultra Low Energy for battery powered data applications using the same frequency bands worldwide as legacy DECT In December 2016, a dedicated working group to address the requirements of URLLC was founded within ETSI TC DECT

14 Addressing the challenges of 5G: Key Benefits DECT / ULE Mission Critical: high reliability profits from unique dynamic channel selection affording no system down time Bandwidth: Up to 1 Mbps with 12 Duplex channels Range: up to 70 M indoor(walls etc), up to 500M outdoor. (Long ranger, low power, uncongested band Latency: <10ms and down to 1ms for fast response times in critical applications. Circuit switched guarantees predictable latency Interference: Uncluttered spectrum eliminates interference Low Power:Battery Life>10 years for coin battery. Overall power budget is more than just the node Voice: Voice control is a key element of IoT. Secure: 128 Bit encryption and higher for voice and data applications Density: traffic densities up to Erlang/km2.
