General The CP476 has four power channels. It is designed to drive a RGBW ledstrip. But it can also drive four single led strips, dual tones light plates, RGBW and RGB ledstrips. The module can be controlled by buttons connected to the PCB, or by a wireless key fob (CP433). Highlights: standalone operation 4 power channels with max. 5A per channel 400Hz PWM dimming with a resolution of 4096 steps wireless control short circuit proof temperature shutdown wireless master slave mode Applications dual tone light plate LED strips LED spots with fixed voltage RGBW ledstrips RGB ledstrips Options DMX controllable Modes summary: Mode 0 & 1: 4 individual PWM s Mode 2 & 3: 4 identical PWM s Mode 4 & 5: 2 individual light plates Mode 6 & 7: 2 identical light plates Mode 8 & 9: RGBW output Mode A & B: RGB output sl@selectron.be * 3
Supply The controller and driver of the CP476 aren t galvanicly separated but can be powered by different power supply s. Parameter Min. Typ. Max. Unit Input voltage (Vin) V DC Power consumption W Current output per channel 0-5 A Power per channel 12V DC 0-60 W 24V DC W PWM dimming frequency Hz Wiring Before wiring the CP476, make sure that the power supply can deliver the required power consumption of the setup. Non isolated power supply In this configuration the controller and the driver stage have the same power supply. sl@selectron.be * 4
Button connections The function of the buttons depends on the selected mode of the CP476. The buttons are connected as shown below: DMX connection (optional) The CP476 can be controlled by DMX. The DMX is connected according to following wiring diagram: * 5
RGBW connections In mode 8 and 9, the CP476 can drive a RGBW device. The configuration in this mode is show in the following diagram: RGB connections In mode A and B, the CP476 can drive a RGB device. The configuration in this mode is show in the following diagram: sl@selectron.be * 6
Protections Short circuit protection The CP476 has short circuit protection. When the + and the - connections of a channel are shorted together, the PWM on the channels will be stopped. The module will remain that way during 60 seconds. After this time out the CP476 will enable the PWM on the output again. The time out mode will be indicated by the fast blinking of the green LED. Temperature shutdown The CP476 has a temperature monitoring on the power channels. When the temperature of the channels raises to high, the CP476 will shut the channels down for 60 seconds. After this time-out the CP476 will enable the PWM on the output again. Indication LEDs The indication leds will provide information about the operation of the module. These LEDs can be found next to S4. Red indication LED The red indication LED will display RF activity. If an RF packet is received the red LED will blink. Blue indication LED The blue indication LED will display the handling of a packet. If the received RF packet is correct an will be executed the blue LED will blink. Green indication LED The green indication LED will provide information about the connected load. The CP476 measures the current running through the power channels. The duty cycle of the green LED will correspond to the measured current. A short blink will correspond to a low output current, where as a longer blink will indicate a higher output current. If the green LED flashes at a fast frequency, it indicates a time out on the output. This can be due to current limitations or temperature shut down. For more information about the causes see the protections mentioned above. PWM LED These LED can be found next to the output connector. They are indicated as red, green, blue and green. These leds represent the output intensity of their corresponding power channels. sl@selectron.be * 7
Options The CP476 has four BCD switches to select the options of the module: Address (S1) This BCD switch controls address, on wich the CP476 communicates. The address can range from 0 F (0 15). In order to work in master slave configuration, the modules need to have the same address. Mode 8,9,A and B have a special address configuration. This is explained in the mode options of these modes. Mode (S2) This BCD switch controls in which mode the CP476 works. This will also control the function of the connected buttons. Position S2 Configuration Mode 0 slave 4 independent outputs 1 master 4 independent outputs 2 slave 4 identical outputs 3 master 4 identical outputs 4 slave 2 independent dualtone lightplates 5 master 2 independent dualtone lightplates 6 slave 2 identical lightplates 7 master 2 identical lightplates 8 slave RGBW outputs 9 master RGBW outputs A slave RGB outputs B master RGB outputs Configuration The configuration determines whether the module works in master or slave mode. If the module works in master mode the CP476 will listen to wireless instruction from a key fob. It will also transmit its state to all the CP476 modules with the same address, configured as slave on the same channel. An address in a system within the same channel may only have 1 master and unlimited slaves. sl@selectron.be * 8
