3 REAL TIME AUTOMATION 460 MMDS Honeywell Quick Start Guide PREPARED BY REAL TIME AUTOMATION

4 Overview: By following this guide, you will be able to configure the 460 MMDS Gateway for basic operation. You will set the device s network settings and parameters to the proper configuration for initial operation and physically place the device in the network. Before You Start: You will need the following tools: The 460 MMDS Gateway The provided CD-ROM A Working PC An Ethernet Crossover Cable A Power Source (7-30 Volts) You will also need to verify the following Modbus RTU Master Communication Characteristics: Baud Rate Parity Data Bits Stop Bits You will also need to verify the following DeviceNet Communication Characteristics: Baud Rate MAC ID

5 Configuring Network: Before you can configure the gateway itself, you must configure the network settings to connect the gateway. The following steps will connect the gateway properly. 1) Connect the power source to the device. 2) Connect the device to the PC using the crossover cable. 3) Insert the provided CD-ROM. 4) Run the IPSetup program from the CD-ROM. 5) Configure the IP Address for your subnet. 6) Click Set. 7) Click Launch Webpage. The Main Page should appear. (Figure 1) Figure 1 Main Page.

6 Error: Device Configuration Page Does Not Launch. If the Device Configuration Main Page does not launch, the IP Address is probably not set correctly. Correct the IP Address and try again. If you do not know the IP Address, use the following procedure. 1) Open an MS-DOS Command Prompt. 2) Type ipconfig and press enter. 3) Note the IP Address. 4) To test if the communication between the PC and the unit is working, type ping (###.###.###.###) in the prompt and press enter. The (###.###.###.###) is a placeholder for the IP Address you used in step 5 of network configuration, which is by default. If the device is connected to the network, the ping will show a response. If you get no response, check the crossover cable.

7 Configuring Mobus RTU: Now that the device is on the network, you will configure the device settings. As a reminder, you will need to know the mode, baud rate, parity, data and stop bit settings of your Modbus device in order to complete the device configuration. 1) If you would like to change the device description, on the main page, in the Description row, click Edit. Otherwise, skip to step 4. 2) Type the desired description into the text box. 3) Click Save. 4) In the Selected Communication Modules row, click Edit. (Figure 1) 5) In the Modbus RTU Master row, click Edit. (Figure 2) Figure 2 Selected Communication Modules 6) Change the Response Timeout field to the desired length of time to wait before a timeout occurs. (Figure 2) 7) Change the Delay Between Polls field to the desired time between the message timeout, success, or error message response and the beginning of the next request. (Figure 2) (Continued)

8 Configuring Modbus RTU NOTE: The MMDS Gateway defaults to RS-485 (2-wire) Modbus RTU Master for the DB9 (Port 1) and DeviceNet for the T-Strip (Port 0). 8) Select the appropriate settings in the Baud, Parity, Data and Stop fields. The settings should match your device. 9) Click Save. Configuring DeviceNet: Now that the device is configured for Modbus, you will configure the DeviceNet settings. As a reminder, you will need to know the MAC ID and baud rate settings of your DeviceNet device in order to complete the device configuration. 1) In the DeviceNet Slave row, click Edit. (Figure 3) 2) The MAC ID must match your DeviceNet device. 3) Choose which input assembly will be the default assembly from the dropdown list. 4) Select the correct Baud Rate for your DeviceNet device. 5) Click Save. 9 Saving Configuration You must restart the 460 device to implement the changes you just made. To restart the device: 1) Click the Return to Main Page link at the top of the page. 2) On the Main Page, click the Utilities button. (Figure 1) 3) Click Restart. (Figure 4) 4) Click OK. 10 Multiple Devices: If you are configuring multiple devices the same way, you can repeat the configuration by saving your work into a file. To do so, follow these steps. 1) From the Main Page, click the Utilities button. 2) Click Save Configuration to File. (Figure 4) 3) Click Save. (Figure 4) 4) Browse to the location you want to save the file. 5) Type in the desired file name. 6) Click OK. 7) Remove the first device. 8) Repeat the network configuration section to connect the next device. 9) Once you launch the webpage, click the Utilities button. 10) Click Browse and browse to the file you saved 11) Click Open. 12) Click Restore from File (Figure 4) Figure 4 Utilities Page

11 Placing the Device: Now that the gateway is configured properly, you must place the device in the network. The following instructions will tell you how to take the device from the configuration area to the shop floor or other operating environment. 1) Disconnect the crossover cable and power supply from the device. 2) Move the device to its intended location. 3) Attach a serial cable from the Modbus RTU Master to the port 1on the 460 MMDS Gateway. 4) Attach the DeviceNet connection from the DeviceNet device to port 0 of the 460 MMDS Gateway. 5) Connect the power supply.
