2 Monitoring Real-Time Power Information with Internet Explorer The ability to network an electrical distribution system is an overlooked asset in the design of electrical systems. With today s technology, however, many of the cost adders and most of the complexity have disappeared. The Siemens 9510 and 9610 power quality meters come with standard functionality which enables them to be used as local displays, data loggers, and as web servers allowing remote users to access electrical system data with only their internet browser. At the center of this system is the meter s ability to be a Modbus Master Device. This means the power meter requests data from any Modbus serial device, like the Siemens 9200 Power Meter or WL Power Circuit Breakers. The Central Display and Remote Monitoring functionality is provided in the Siemens devices and once the meters and other devices are installed and interconnected in the distribution equipment, customers then only need to provide a static IP address to program into the 9510/9610 power meter. Inputting the IP address can be done from the front display panel without any configuration software. Your system is now ready for use. 3 Option A When using the LV switchgear design, by utilizing the ETU 7 series with the metering plus module and Modbus communications, the following values are available to be displayed at the power meter and over the web from the meter s web pages. Parameters Per Phase and Average Current Values Current Demand Per Phase and Average Voltage Values KVA Total KW and KW Demand KVAR Total Frequency Energy, Kwhr delivered and received Power Factor Total Harmonic Distortion Neutral and Ground Currents Current and Voltage Unbalance Spring Charge Status Breaker Status (OPEN/CLOSE) RTC Flag Status (Ready to Close) Trip Indication (Tripped/Not Tripped) Option B When using switchboard design, there are two options for metering the feeder breakers. If an individual display is required for each of the feeders, then the 9200 meter with display can be used on each feeder. Option C If the main 9510/9610 meter is going to be used as the local display, then there is the option to use the 9200 meter without display. In each case, Option B or C, the following parameters are available at the branch device. Figures 1.5 and 1.6 are custom web pages created within the 9510 or 9610, based on customer requirements and project specific information for both the WL breakers and the 9200 power meters. This customization is done at the time of commissioning and does not require additional software.

4 9510 or 9610 Real-time Web Screen Internet Explorer allows you to view real-time power system information from the 9510 or 9610 power meters. Your internet browser automatically polls the selected device(s) and updates the displayed measurements in your browser window. It runs entirely on the client side so you don t need to install anything special on your PC or 9610 Revenue Measurements/Energy Web Screen The Revenue Measurements page is pre-configured to display important data such as real, reactive, and apparent power. Figure 1.3 Custom Web Pages The 9510/9610 meter has the ability to poll data from downstream devices, like WL breakers on feeders or 9200 power meters on feeder breakers and then display this data in custom web pages. Figures 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 show various display configurations when applying the main meter s local display capabilities. The actual number of devices and parameters to be displayed is dependent upon the number of parameters to be displayed per device. The sample topology shown on the previous page depicts the connections to either 9200 meters or to WL breakers. All wiring and configuration is done at the factory, leaving only the IP address programming to be completed in the field. Siemens Performance Specification Feeder circuits shall include communications and shall be factory wired to the Ethergate port (Ethernet comm. card) of the 9510 / 9610 Power Quality meter. The meter shall be factory configured to log, display, and make available via HTML web pages real time data, power quality information, and revenue data from each of the feeder breakers, without requiring any separate windows based operating software. Display the parameters on one screen per feeder at the meter and on one web page per meter remotely at the client s computer using only Internet Explorer. Exact screen layouts will depend on parameter configuration done at commissioning.

6 Additional Capabilities Water, Air, Gas, and Steam Monitoring The digital inputs supplied with the 9510 or 9610 power meters can be configured for pulse counting applications where full utility monitoring is required. Now, gas, water, air, and steam pulses can be collected in one unit, logged and displayed. Up to 16 digital inputs can be configured. MeterM@il messages can be received like any message, at a workstation, cellphone, pager or PDA. XML Compatibility The units can also exchange information using industry-standard XML format. It s simple machine readable-format supports easy integration with custom reporting, spreadsheet, database, and other applications.
