Safety technology is a major topic in the automation industry and Murrelektronik s active safety technology reaches the high standards that companies require. MVK Metal Safety, the safe fieldbus module, is part of this technology. Murrelektronik offers reliable products for passive safety technology solutions. MIRO Safe relays, combined with passive safety fieldbus modules (MVK Metal, Cube67, and MASI), ensure safe installations. If necessary, the module s outputs are switched off so the affected machine parts are also safely shut off. This is a simple solution because concepts and standards can be maintained. With MVK Metal Safety, Murrelektronik now has active safety technology. This rugged fieldbus module generates safe inputs and outputs in combination with a safe control (F-PLC). Using the fieldbus protocol, PROFINET/PROFIsafe, ensures that safety-related data is transferred reliably. MVK Metal Safety is part of the complete system that fulfills high safety standards. Murrelektronik s new fieldbus modules enable installations with Safety Integrity Level 3 (according to IEC and IEC 62061) and Performance Level e (according to EN ISO ). The fully potted MVK Metal Safety modules are suitable for applications in harsh industrial environments, thanks to IP67 protection and a high resistance to media and vibrations. 4 04 03 Safe Fieldbus Protocol PROFINET/PROFIsafe PROFIsafe is a safety-related expansion of the PROFINET fieldbus protocol and it transfers safety-related data. These protocol are standard in industrial applications. That means pre-existing communication technologies can be used which saves wiring and installation time. Another benefit is that standard PROFINET modules can be integrated into the individual lines. specific safety configurations Safety-related components always have their own safety addresses within a PROFINET/PROFIBUS system. At the MVK Metal Safety module, the safe address can be conveniently set with three rotary switches.the switches are easily accessible. rugged housing The one-piece zinc, die-cast housing features surface finishing. It withstands weld spatter and is IP67 protected. This makes it suitable for applications in harsh industrial environments. The MVK Metal Safety module is fully potted and so it is extremely resistant to shock and vibration (up to 15g vibration and 60g shock). A feature that is required for compression molding applications.

5 05 Two Models Always easy to recognize MVK Metal Safety is available as an input-only module and as a hybrid module with input and output. Each input port has the option to be used to transfer one or two signals. Depending on the application, SIL3 certification can be reached. Module and ports are equipped with yellow labels that offer a clear overview. You can see at a glance that this is a safety module. The same coloring is used for the light rings and the contact carriers at the ports. Comprehensive diagnostics MVK Metal Safety offers comprehensive diagnostic options. Errors such as overload, sensor short circuit or wire breaks are monitored for each individual channel, signaled by an LED at the affected port, and reported to the control. This single channel diagnostic ensures that only the affected channel is switchded off without interfering with the neighboring channels. Extensive Functions Safety with Opposite Polarity between Channels Each input has a separate clock signal (parameterizable). Easily detect cross circuits caused by pinched cables or ground faults and respond immediately. Single-/Two-Channel Inputs Each input port features two inputs.for two-channel applications, these inputs can be configured as equivalent or antivalent. Cable Break Recognition For the safe outputs, cable break recognition is possible as an option.the required minimum current amounts to 50 ma. Overload Monitoring of the Outputs If the maximum current is exceeded, the output is switched into a safe state. This is signaled by a red LED at the port and additionally reported via the diagnostic function. adjustable Discrepancy Time In two-channel applications, time delays that are caused, for example, by two different sensors, can be compensated by adjustable discrepancy time.
