CONTROL SYSTEM PCB Parameter Storage With 40Mb of hard disk storage available for variable data, may hudreds of sets of parameters may be stored for immediate recall. I additio, they may be trasferred to ad from the machie via floppy disks or host commuicatios. Machie Parameter Storage Machie Specific data such as calibratio data ad iitial SPC checks are stored o the hard disk. They may be accessed through diagostics which is key cotrolled. VISION & LIGHTING Normal fiducial detectio is by a ehaced correlatio techique that has bee optimised to detect pre-programmed fiducial shapes referred to as Sythetic fiducials. A Video Model stadard correlatio techique is provided to cope with fiducials for which a pre-programmed shape does ot yet exist. Sythetic fiducials are programmed by selectig oe of the pre-programmed shapes & eterig umerically set dimesios. Alteratively the shape ca be superimposed o actual fiducial & adjusted to fit. Curretly available shapes are: circle, rectagle, diamod, triagle, cross ad double square. A major advatage of this method is its idepedece of optical variatios betwee differet machies, makig the full trasfer of product settigs betwee priters possible. Other advatages of this method are icreased accuracy, icreased tolerace to variatios i fiducial size ad rotatio. Video Model fiducials are selected rectagular areas of the image cotaiig the fiducials. Correlatio or template matchig, as it is also called, is used to locate the positio i a image that gives the best match to the stored video model. The advatage of this method is that it ca be used where a sythetic shape does ot exist. G. VISION LIGHTING This visio system is very tolerat of lightig variatios, but it is still importat to achieve a good quality image to give the best results. For flat tied copper or plai copper fiducials, the best results are obtaied with vertical lightig. Domed tied or fiducials covered with solder resist are best viewed usig light from a wide agle. The 265 has two optioal lightig systems, a vertical illumiator ad a rig illumiator eablig selectio of the best lightig for ay applicatio. SCREEN FRAME INSTALLATION & FIDUCIALS POSITION A simple alumiium scree frame is used: X Directio: The PCB should be located so that the PCB cetre lie is withi 1mm of the scree cetre lie. Y Directio: The positio of the PCB must be set so that its frot edge is located to withi 1mm of 622mm dimesio show below. The dimesios i the figure below apply to the DEK 265. Mask material ca iclude stailess steel, brass, copper ickel or ickel. The mask is ormally mouted o a supportig mesh withi the frame. However, it may be ecessary to place them i the viciity of fie pitch compoets if these are cocetrated o a particular part of the PCB. Fiducial Patters Same as the scree details. Solder Resist Pritig Patters Solder resist, otches, pi holes or routigs must ot be withi 1mm of the edge of the fiducial. This is irrespective of PCB thickess. Tooled top plates are also available. 26 DEK 265GS PRINTING MACHINE Chapter Issue 6. 6/ MANUFLEX TOOLING (OPTIONAL) Mauflex toolig provides PCB support, utilisig 3.0mm diameter steel pis at hole cetres of 10mm. This toolig optio is curretly available i a umber of sizes ad its desig ca be customised to suit specific requiremets upo request. The mauflex toolig has a three plate support system desiged to give the best pi support ad light weight characteristics for ease of hadlig. The mauflex toolig is dowel pi registered ad held i positio o the table with magets located i the base of the hadles. The grid plates are marked to eable correct orietatio durig assembly. The top grid plate has a alpha/umeric grid referece to match the compoet template. To allow the mauflex toolig to be tured through 90 degrees (if required), the locatig spigots (positioed o the uderside of the base plate) ad hadles ca be removed ad replaced through 90 degrees, see figure below, (See Note below). The compoet template is a 0.005i. clear plastic shim with a black prited grid to match the top grid plate. Istructios describig the method of settig the pi matrix is also prited o the template. 27 Chapter Issue 6. 6/94 DEK 265GS PRINTING MACHINE 12. DEDICATED PLATE The dedicated plate toolig is a three piece costructio, 2 vertical supports ad 1 flat face top board support. The toolig must be maufactured to the same height as the magetic pis, irrespective of board thickess (ie. 81.0mm +0, -0.05mm).
