But that's all changed with the imagerunner ir2016i and ir2020i. These innovative devices incorporate the latest in Canon multifunction technology while maintaining their compact size and economy. This means that small offices can now enjoy features such as Canon's advanced colour send feature for distributing and archiving digital colour documents direct from the device and finishing features like automatic collating and stapling built in. Plus, new for this size device, an LCD touch-screen display makes it even easier to use. All this in a body that will squeeze into even the most space challenged office.

In addition to everything a small workgroup needs for day-to-day printing, copying and distributing documents, a Super G3 fax and internal finishing option can be added for even greater convenience. Efficient printing and copying Printing and copying at 16 and 20 pages per minute respectively, the ir2016i and the ir2020i have the speed to handle the needs of the most demanding small workgroup. To avoid wasting time, they take only 13 seconds to warm up and the first copy appears in only 7.9 seconds. Clear and crisp prints A high print resolution of up to 1,200 x 1,200dpi (maximised) ensures that documents are produced with complete clarity and fidelity. This is ideal for when you are printing documents that require crisp images and accurate diagrams. Powerful processing technology A powerful print controller, featuring Canon's latest chip technology, and simultaneous multi-task processing technology ensures fast, efficient data processing. Both models include Canon's UFR-II Lite print driver for easy operation with the option of a PCL5e/6 print driver for organisation's already using the PCL standard. You can choose the print driver that best suits your needs. Large paper capacity What's more you have a choice of paper capacity to suit your organisation's needs. The ir2016i comes with a standard paper capacity of 330 sheets that can be increased with the addition of optional paper trays to 580 or 1,080 sheets. The 580 sheet standard capacity of the ir2020i can be increased to 1,080 sheets. Advanced paper handling features A 50-sheet duplex automatic document feeder minimises paper handling chores, particularly when printing or faxing large jobs, by scanning both sides of a page in one operation. Measuring only 622mm wide and 668 deep, they are ideal for offices where space is at a premium. Handy inner two-way output tray To save on the time spent retrieving output, an optional inner two-way tray allows you to specify a destination for different types of output tray one for prints and copies and tray two for incoming faxes, for example. Space-saving internal finishing unit By choosing the optional internal finishing unit, you have the advantage of automatic collating, offset collating and stapling features at your fingertips. PDF compact With PDF Compact, you don't need to worry about full-colour documents clogging your network. By simply selecting PDF Compact when scanning, it will produce a document with all the versatility of regular PDF at up to a tenth the size. Fast Super G3 fax option Particularly useful in offices where space is tight, the ir2016i and ir2020i come with a built-in Super G3 fax option. With a modem speed of 33.6Kbps, it transmits documents in only three seconds per page,* so it saves on call costs. Plus it includes quick access selection for 200 frequently used numbers and addresses. Convenient Remote User Interface With the Remote User Interface utility, many features can be controlled from a workstation as easily as they can be from the device. It allows you to check job status and more via a standard Web browser. Advanced output control features The ID Management feature enables you to restrict usage to those with a valid ID and password.
