3 Tble 5 Pge length for continuous pper LOAD/EJECT Press this button to lod pper, if it is not loded, or to eject it if pper is loded. If the pper-relese lever is set to the single-sheet position, pper is ejected forwrd. If the pper-relese lever is set to the front-trctor or rer-trctor position, pper is ejected bckwrd to The Control Pnel The indictor lights give you the current sttus of the printer. The buttons let you control mny of the printer settings. Lights POWER (green) On when the power switch is on nd power is supplied. DATA (ornge) On when dt is present in the printer s memory buffer. MULTI-PART (green) On when the pper-thickness lever is set to 2nd position or higher. PAPER OUT (red) On when the printer runs out of pper. PAUSE (ornge) On when you press the PAUSE button. This light stys off unless you press the PAUSE button to prevent printing. TEAR OFF (ornge) On when you press the TEAR OFF button to feed the pper to the teroff position. BIN 1 (green) On when bin 1 of the optionl cut-sheet feeder is selected for pper feeding. BIN 2 (green) On when bin 2 of the optionl cut-sheet feeder is selected for pper feeding. ALT Holding down this button while pressing certin other buttons results in the following lternte functions: BUFFER CLEAR (ALT + PAUSE) clers the printer s buffer nd intitilizes the printer settings MICRO FEED: (ALT + LOAD/EJECT) feeds pper forwrd in 1/18!Xnch increments (ALT + LFIFF) feed pper bckwrd in l/18&nch increments TEAR OFF (Bin Select) This button selects the pper bin when both optionl cut-sheet feeders re instlled nd you re printing on single sheets. When printing on continuous pper, press this button once to feed pper from the loding position to the ter-off position. Press this button gin to feed the pper bckwrd to the loding position. FONT Press this button to select one of the 10 built-in fonts. lf n optionl font module hs been instlled, it cn be selected by choosing SLOT. PITCH Press this button to select one of the six chrcter pitches (chrcters per inch). The control pnel lso gives you ccess to two specil functions. selftest Dt dump: Hold down the LF/FF (LQ mode) or LOAD/EJECT (Drft mode) button while turning on the printer to perform the self test. The self test lets you check tht your printer is operting properly nd gives you printout of the current DIP-switch settings. Hold down both the LFIFF button nd LOAD/EJECT button while turning on the printer to enter dt-dump mode. 4 Pper Hndling Setting the pper-relese lever The singlebin cut-sheet feeder holds up to 50 single sheets of pper. When the simple cut-sheet feeder is instlled lone, you cn still mnully insert single sheets using the pper guide. The high-cpcity cut-sheet feeder holds up to 150 sheets of pper. You cn lso lod up to 25 envelopes utomticlly with this cutsheet feeder. Tbe two cut-sheet feeders cn be combined to form double-bin cutsheet feeder. Appliction Softwre Single-sheet position For ll single sheets, whether loded from front, top, or either of the optionl cut-sheet feeders. Front push-trctor position For continuous pper when the trctor unit is instlled in the front. Rer push-trctor position For continuous pper when the trctor unit is instlled in the rer. Pull-trctor position For continuous pper when the trctor unit is instlled on the top. In this cse, you cn lod pper from either the front, rer, or bottom. The Cut-Sheet Feeder Most ppliction progrms let you specify the type of printer you use so tht the progrm cn tke full dvntge of the printer s fetures. Mny of these progrms provide n instlltion or setup section tht presents list of printers. Choosing from menu Becuse Epson printers shre gret mny commnds, you cn use n ppliction progrm even if it does not list your printer on its printer selection menu. If your printer is not listed, choose from the following list (the printers re listed in tire order of preference): LQ-850/1050 LQ-510/550/1010 LQ-200 LQ-500 LQ-86O+/lOfio+ LQ-2550 LQ-2500 LQ-8OO/looO LQ-1500 If none of these printers is listed, select the first one vilble from the following list: LQ, EX, FX, LX, RX, MS, Epson printer, Stndrd printer, Drft printer. Instlltion/Support Tips softwre Tbe type of printer instlled on your system must be identified for ech softwre pckge. This is usully done through setup menu. If this printer is not Listed in your progrm, see Choosing from menu, bove, for the next-best model selection. DIP Switch Settings The defult settings will usully work for most pplictions, but they should be checked before using the printer. This will void unexpected results.
