All NL SAS and SATA HDDs, SEDs, and SSDs are RoHS compliant. The new Lenovo System x HDD, SED, and SSD features include: 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factor storage capacity for several new drives NL SATA drive-to-host interface supports up to 6.0 Gbps burst rate. SAS drive-to-host interface supports up to 12 Gbps burst rate. Hot-swap and simple-swap versions of the NL SATA 2.5-inch HDDs and hot-swap version of the SAS and 3NL SAS 2.5-inch HDDs are available along with the SATA SSD and SAS SED drives. The 7,200 rpm HDDs deliver NL SAS and SATA device reliability and largest capacity performance in the HDD family. Software utilities allow for Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) to alert you of certain impending drive failures so that replacements can be made. 2 Overview As the newest additions to the System x family of 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SAS and SATA HDDs, the 7,200 rpm, 6 Gbps hot-swap NL SATA HDDs and the 12 Gbps hotswap NL SAS HDDs, along with the 10,000 rpm and 15,000 rpm 12 Gbps SAS HDDs and SEDs offer the highest density drive options and provide a broad selection of choices to satisfy a wide range of applications. The 2 TB 7,200 NL SATA drives are 512 emulation (512e) HDDs. The Enterprise Entry and Enterprise Value SATA SSDs are in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch options, providing high-performance read/write capability for high-speed application operations. The SAS HDDS are available as hot-swap drives. The SATA SSDs are also available as hot-swap drives. Performance characteristics for the SAS and SATA drives include: Formatted capacity of 120,000 MB through 2,000,000 MB. Drive-to-host interface that supports up to 6.0 Gbps burst rate in SATA drives and 12 Gbps burst rate in SAS drives. Drive media to buffer interface that supports sustained interface data transfers of up to 194 MB per second (MBps) average. Spindle speeds of 7,200 rpm, 10,000 rpm, and 15,000 rpm. NL SATA hot-swap or simple-swap capability. SAS and NL SAS hot-swap capability. Native SAS/SATA interface. For optimal performance with 512e drives, the host system software stack must be 512e aware.
