2 ABB standard drive variants The ACS850 is available in several frame sizes to optimise the packing density of the drive. This optimised packing density ensures that MCC cabinet line-ups are as compact as possible. Minimised MCC line-ups mean that compliant bids to the water industry are as small as possible whilst still complying with EMC and thermal requirements. Frame A and B EMC external but plug-in, so no extra cabling required. Frame C to E EMC and harmonics choke built into the unit, so most compact size with no extra items to fit or cable. The frame E module is capable of delivering 160 kw in a single back-sheet mountable IP20 unit, the highest power density on the market. Frame G1 to G2 The cabling panel option allows easy connection of input power and motor cables. Standard I/O connections ACS850 drives have one of the most extensive offering of standard I/Os on the market. Analog and digital I/O channels are used for different functions such as control, monitoring and measurement purposes (eg, motor temperature). 5 ACS850 User interfaces Removable memory unit A removable memory unit provides easy maintenance by storing the complete firmware, including all user settings and motor data. Thus, if the power unit or control unit is replaced, the drive can be re-commissioned without any reprogramming, just move the memory unit. Extensions include analog and digital modules and speed feedback interface modules which are mounted in the slots on the ACS850 control board. The control board has two slots available for I/O extension modules. Additionally, there is a third slot available for fieldbus adapter modules.
