3 Description This release is an updated version of the RDX Utility software, which is used with the RDX and RDX+ Removable Disk Backup Systems. Use the utility to: Identify RDX and RDX+ Removable Disk Backup Systems attached to a server Retrieve device and cartridge status information Upgrade RDX and RDX+ Removable Disk Backup System firmware Conduct diagnostic testing of the docking station and cartridge Change the device mode between Fixed Disk and Removable Disk mode (applies to HPE RDX USB 3.0 devices) Internal and External RDX USB 3.0 Removable Disk Backup Systems (firmware version 2.10 or later) External RDX+ USB 3.0 Removable Disk Backup Systems (firmware version 2.27 or later) NOTE: For information about Fixed Disk and Removable Disk modes, see the Help section of the RDX Utility GUI. On Windows host systems, Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends installing the RDX Utility immediately after connecting the RDX device to help ensure that the eject function operates correctly and the drive has maximum disk compatibility. Enhanced the RDX Utility capacity report for cartridges with a capacity greater than 2TB. Updated Hewlett Packard Enterprise branding. Installation instructions 1. Download the utility firmware from the RDX support website: 2. Save the InstallHPE.exe and setup.exe files in the same directory and then run InstallHPE.exe. The installer will uninstall any existing version of the RDX Utility and then automatically run setup.exe to install RDX Utility 2.36 (RDX Tools 1.59). To run the RDX Utility for Windows, click Start > All Programs > RDX Utility > RDX Utility. For instructions on using the RDX Utility, click Help.
