3 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 3 Introduction Figure 1: FXVMA VAV Box Controller The FXVMA is a Variable Air Volume (VAV) box controller in the Facility Explorer range of products. The FXVMA is an integrated assembly consisting of a high performance digital controller, fast response actuator, and an accurate Differential Pressure Transducer (DPT), all of which are prewired together and integrated inside a single enclosure. The FXVMA is fully programmable using FX Builder, or you can select and configure a predefined VAV box control application using the FX Builder Application Wizard. Various software and accessories are available to assist you during the commissioning of the FXVMA and the VAV box. This includes FX CommPro, which is computer-based downloading and commissioning software; and the Medium User Interface (MUI), which is a hardware interface. The FXVMA includes embedded N2 Open or BACnet Master-Slave/Token-Passing (MS/TP) communication capability, allowing for its integration into the building automation system via the N2 or BACnet network.

4 4 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin Features The features of the FXVMA include: fully programmable or configurable controller using the FX Tools software package embedded communications capability for connection to a N2 or BACnet supervisory system integrated controller, actuator, and pressure transducer removable screw connectors for servicing operations FX CommPro online software tool for downloading, commissioning, and servicing operations Optional Accessories Network Room Module The FXVMA controller supports one Network Room Module (NRM). The NRM provides the actual room temperature to the FXVMA. It features an optional Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) display and an adjustment dial on its front face. These features allow occupants to view the room temperature and to view and adjust the setpoint temperature in the controller. On models available in North America, occupants can toggle temperature units between F and C. When an occupant moves the dial during unoccupied mode, a temporary occupied (bypass) mode is requested. Depending on the NRM configuration, the unoccupied mode may be identified by a flashing LCD display. Figure 2: Network Room Modules Medium User Interface The FXVMA supports one MUI. The Medium User Interface contains: a 4x26 line character LCD 6 push buttons 10 discrete status Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs)

5 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 5 Figure 3: Medium User Interface When connected to the FXVMA, the MUI provides information and command capabilities needed to monitor, commission, and balance the FXVMA and the VAV box. The MUI is available in two models: local mount (up to 3 m [9.8 ft]) and remote mount (up to 1 km [0.6 miles]). You can also use the local mount MUI as a handheld commissioning tool.

6 6 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin Installation This chapter takes you through the process of installing an FXVMA VAV Box Controller.! WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock. Disconnect each of multiple power supplies before making electrical connections. More than one disconnect may be required to completely de-energize equipment. Contact with components carrying hazardous voltage can cause electric shock and may result in severe personal injury or death. AVERTISSEMENT: Risque de décharge électrique. IMPORTANT: Use this FXVMA controller only as an operating control. Where failure or malfunction of the FXVMA could lead to personal injury or damage to the controlled equipment or other property, additional precautions must be designed into the control system. Incorporate and maintain other devices, such as supervisory or alarm systems or safety or limit controls, intended to warn of or protect against failure or malfunction of the FXVMA controller. IMPORTANT: In North America, the controller is intended for installation with Class 2 inputs and outputs only where no special electrical safety mounting precautions are generally necessary. These controllers are UL Listed as Open Energy Management Equipment per UL 916.

7 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 7 IMPORTANT: Before specifying the FXVMA for plenum applications, verify acceptance of exposed plastic materials in plenum areas with the local building authority. Building codes for plenum requirements vary by location. Some local building authorities accept compliance to UL 1995, Heating and Cooling Equipment, whereas others use different acceptance criteria. IMPORTANT: Cables and wiring at Safety Extra-Low Voltage (SELV) and Class 2 wiring (North America) must be separated from power line voltage wiring. A minimum separation distance of 30 cm (12 in.) is recommended. Do not run extra low voltage cables parallel to power line voltage cables for long distances greater than 3 m (10 ft). Do not run extra-low voltage wiring close to transformers or high frequency generating equipment.

8 8 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin North American Emissions Compliance United States This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when this equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference, in which case the user is required to correct the interference at his/her own expense. Canada This Class (A) digital apparatus meets all the requirements of the Canadian Interference-Causing Equipment Regulations. 9 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 9 Installation Procedures Observe these guidelines when installing the FXVMA: Transport the FXVMA in its original container to minimize vibration and shock damage to the unit. Do not drop the FXVMA or subject it to physical shock. Mounting the FXVMA! WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock. Disconnect power supply before making electrical connections. Contact with components carrying hazardous voltage can cause electric shock and may result in injury or death. AVERTISSEMENT: Risque de décharge électrique. IMPORTANT: The Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) circuits in the controller are sensitive to static electricity. Take suitable precautions. The FXVMA is intended to be mounted directly onto the VAV box damper shaft. To mount the FXVMA: 1. Place the FXVMA in the proper mounting position on the damper shaft so that the wiring connections are easily accessible. 2. Make sure the FXVMA base is parallel to the VAV box (perpendicular to the damper shaft). If needed, use a spacer to offset tipping of the FXVMA caused by the shaft bushings. IMPORTANT: When the air supply to the VAV box is below 10 C (50 F), make sure that any condensation on the VAV box, particularly on the damper shaft, does not enter the electronics. Mount the FXVMA vertically above the damper shaft to allow any shaft condensation to fall away from the FXVMA controller. Additional measures may be required in some installations. 3. Secure the self-piercing No. 10 screw through the FXVMA mounting slot with a power screwdriver and 100 mm (4 in.) extension socket. Otherwise, use a punch to mark the position of the shoulder washer, and then drill a hole into the VAV box using a 3.5 mm (9/64 in.) drill bit. Insert the mounting screw, and tighten against the washer. IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten the screws, or the threads may strip. If mounting to the VAV box, make sure the screws do not interfere with damper blade movement.

10 FIG:d_shaft 10 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 4. Locate the damper position using the typical marking on the end of the damper shaft (Figure 4). Figure 4: Typical Damper End Shaft Icons 5. Note the direction, Clockwise (CW) or Counterclockwise (CCW), required to close the damper. 6. Grasp the damper shaft firmly with pliers. For 90 boxes, manually close the damper. For 45 or 60 boxes, manually open the damper. 7. Push down and hold the Manual Override button (Figure 1), and turn the FXVMA coupler until it contacts the mechanical end-stop at either the fully closed (90 boxes) or fully open (45 and 60 boxes) position. 8. For 90 boxes, rotate the coupler in the direction that the damper closes to its mechanical limit. The open end-stop is automatically set for 90 boxes. You must provide hard stops for 45 and 60 boxes at both fully closed and fully open damper positions. By installing the FXVMA at the fully open position, the FXVMA provides the open stop for the box. The closed damper seal provides the fully closed stop. 9. Tighten the square coupler bolt to 17 to 21 N m (150 to 180 lb in [14 lb ft]). 10. Loop the pneumatic tubing to include a trap for condensation. Attach the tubing from the FXVMA to the VAV box pickup. The red tubing is connected to the inlet or high-pressure side and the clear tubing to the low side (Figure 1). 11. Push the Manual Release button, and turn the actuator coupling manually to ensure that the actuator can rotate from fully closed to fully open positions without binding. 12. Complete the mounting by rotating the damper to the fully open position.! CAUTION: Risk of Property Damage: Rotate the damper to the full-open position before starting the air handler. Failure to rotate the damper to the full-open position may result in damage to the VAV box or ductwork when the air handler is started. MESE EN GARDE: Risque de dégâts matériels. 11 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 11 Wiring the FXVMA To wire the FXVMA: 1. Wire the analog and binary Inputs and Outputs (I/Os) to the FXVMA. 2. Wire the Network Room Module (NRM) to the FXVMA. 3. Daisy chain the N2 or BACnet MS/TP bus to the FXVMA s Supervisory Link. 4. Connect power wiring to the FXVMA. The channel assignments for the inputs and outputs vary according to the control application configuration. Obtain the actual I/O channel assignments from FX Builder. The wiring connections for the inputs and outputs vary depending on the FXVMA application. See Inputs and Outputs for wiring details.

Input and Output objects are selected, configured, and connected to other parts of the software application using FX Builder.

13 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 13 Universal Input Details As indicated in Table 1, the FXVMA features one universal input that can accept a passive sensor, active sensor, or dry contact/maintained switch input. Table 2 describes the FXVMA universal inputs. Wiring Connections Follow the wiring diagram in Figure 5 to connect a passive sensor to the FXVMA Universal Input. FXVMA RTD Temperature Element +15 IN ICOM Universal FIG:rtd_temp Figure 5: Passive Sensor Connection IMPORTANT: The two passive sensor leads have no polarity; therefore, it is not necessary to respect any specific order when connecting to the terminal block.

14 14 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin Software Configuration The Analog Input object in the application software provides the software interface between the passive sensor and the control application. Using FX Builder, set the Channel attribute of the Analog Input object to Channel 1 and configure the Setup and Type attributes to match the type and units of the connected sensor. See Figure 6. Figure 6: Software Configuration of Universal Input as an Analog Input Active Sensor Input The FXVMA Universal Input accepts an active sensor (for example, CO 2 sensor) that provides a voltage signal in the range of 0-10 VDC. The active sensor may be powered externally or by the 15 VDC power supply on the FXVMA. Wiring Connections Figure 7 shows the connection between the FXVMA and a sensor powered by external 24 VAC.

Powering an active sensor with the same 24 VAC power supply as the FXVMA VAV Box Controller may affect the isolation between the microprocessor and the power supply. If you disregard the power supply and analog input polarity, a short circuit may result, causing the external fuse to blow. Figure 8 displays the connection between the FXVMA and a sensor powered by the 15 VDC power supply on the FXVMA. Use FX Builder to set the Channel Attribute of the Analog Input object to Channel 1, and to set the Setup and Type attributes to match the type and units of the connected sensor. See Figure 9.

17 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 17 Dry Contact Switch Input The FXVMA Universal Input accepts a dry contact, maintained switch input. Wiring Connections Figure 10 shows the connection between the FXVMA and a dry contact switch. Use FX Builder to set the Channel Attribute of the Digital Input object to Channel 1 and to set the Polarity attribute to match the switch type (Figure 11). The Logic Output of the Digital Input object is active (true) depending on its polarity setting. The default setting is Direct (Normally Open). This means the Logic Output of the Digital Input object is active (true) when the contact is closed. Figure 11: Software Configuration of Universal Input as a Digital Input

18 18 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin Differential Pressure Transducer Input Details The Differential Pressure Transducer (DPT) is enclosed within the FXVMA assembly and is internally wired to the controller. It is not field replaceable. Software Configuration The Analog Input object in the application software provides the software interface between the DPT and the control application. Use FX Builder to set the Channel attribute of the Analog Input object to Channel 2 and to set the Setup attribute to Ratiometric (Figure 12). 19 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 19 Binary Output Details The FXVMA1x provides three, field-connectable binary outputs. These binary outputs are 24 VAC, 0.5 A triacs. You can configure these outputs to control a variety of devices, including: on/off devices, such as constant speed fans, on/off valves, and heating elements incremental actuators Table 3 describes the FXVMA binary outputs. 21 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 21 Software Configuration You can select from these two different output object types to provide the software interface between the device connected to the Binary Output and the control application: On/Off Output -This object commands the Binary Output to On or Off, depending on the input signal. Position Adjusting Time (PAT) Output -This object commands a pair of Binary Outputs to drive a synchronous, reversible, electric actuator in one of two directions (for example, open and close, clockwise, and counterclockwise) in response to a change in the numeric input signal. Use FX Builder to select and configure the output objects in the application software. For On/Off devices, use the Digital Output object. Set the channel to 1, 2, and/or 3, and set the Polarity attribute to match the desired operation of the binary output (Figure 16). Figure 16: Software Configuration of On/Off Output Object

22 22 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin For incremental devices, use the PAT object. The PAT output object requires two binary outputs; therefore, you need to define two output channels. Use Channels 1, 2, or 3. The channel numbers must be unique. As in Figure 17, the PAT outputs are configured to be on Channels 1 and 2. Figure 17: Software Configuration of PAT Output Object If the control application is configured for this feature, then you can override a digital output and its modified value via a supervisory system.

23 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 23 Configurable Output Details The FXVMA provides two field-connectable, Configurable Outputs (COs). Configurable outputs allow you to choose whether they provide binary or analog output control. Hardware Channels 4 and 5 of the FXVMA1x are assigned to the configurable outputs. You can configure these to be 24 VAC triacs or 0-10 V analog outputs. 24 24 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin Wiring Connections Figure 18, Figure 19, and Figure 20 show the connection between the FXVMA Configurable Outputs and an On/Off device, incremental actuator, and proportional actuator, respectively. 25 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 25 Software Configuration Output objects in the application software provide the interfaces between the devices connected to the Configurable Outputs and the control application. Use FX Builder to select and configure the output objects in the application software. You can select from three different output object types: On/Off Output - This object commands the Configurable Output to On or Off depending on the input signal. PAT Output - This object commands a pair of outputs to drive a synchronous, reversible, electric actuator in one of two directions (for example, open and close, clockwise, and counterclockwise) in response to a change in the numeric input signal. Analog Output - This object provides a 0-10 V output in response to its input drive signal. For On/Off devices, use the Digital Output object. Set the channel to 4 or 5, and set the Polarity attribute to match the desired operation of the binary output (Figure 21).

The PAT output object requires both Configurable Outputs. Using FX Builder, set the Channel1 attribute to Channel_4 and the Channel2 attribute to Channel_5 (Figure 22). 28 28 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin Actuator Output Details The actuator enclosed within the FXVMA assembly is a non-spring return, 60-second actuator with incremental control. It is internally wired to the controller. The actuator is not field replaceable. Software Configuration The PAT Output object in the application software provides the interface between the actuator and the control application. Using FX Builder, set the Channel1 attribute to Channel 6 and the Channel2 attribute to Channel 7 (Figure 24). Set the FullStrokeTime attribute to 60 seconds. Place the module where occupants can easily see the LCD and adjust the setpoint dial. You should also place the NRM where the temperature is representative of the general room conditions. 31 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 31 Wiring Connections Before you connect or disconnect any wires, ensure that all power supplies are turned off and all wires are potentially free to prevent equipment damage and avoid electric shock. All wiring to the module is at Safety Extra-Low Voltage (SELV in Europe, Class 2 in North America) and must be separated from power line voltage wiring. Do not run wiring close to transformers or high frequency generating equipment. Complete and verify all wiring connections before applying power to the controller to which the module is connected. Make terminations at the terminal blocks in the base of the module with one 1.5 mm 2 (16 AWG) wire or two 0.8 mm (20 AWG) wires. The NRM connects to the Remote Display Bus of FXVMA at the four-terminal connection marked SENSOR. You can connect the NRM up to 30.5 m (100 ft) from the FXVMA. Figure 28 shows the connection between the FXVMA and the NRM. Use FX Builder to configure the NRM attributes to their desired settings. For more information, refer to the Network Room Module Technical Bulletin (LIT ).

You can connect these references to other objects in the application software.

33 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 33 Medium User Interface The MUI consists of a 4 line by 26 character LCD display, 10 discrete LEDs, and 6 push buttons. It provides monitor, adjust, and override capabilities for data points in the control application. Mounting The MUI is available in two models: local mount (up to 3 m [9.8 ft]) and remote mount (up to 1 km [0.6 miles]). The local mount MUI can also be used as a handheld commissioning tool. Software Interface The MUI s points list, command capabilities, and navigation are defined in the FXVMA application software. Use FX Builder to add the MUI to the application software (Figure 30); to identify which points are to be monitored, adjusted, or commanded; and to design the navigation. N2 Wiring Connections The N2 bus is a communications network consisting of three wires carrying RT+, RT-, and REF signals. For more information on the N2 bus, refer to the N2 Communication Bus Technical Bulletin (LIT ). N2 devices, including the FXVMA, are networked together in a daisy-chain configuration. For runs up to 1,520 m (5,000 ft), we recommend you use stranded 22 AWG, twisted 3-conductor wire. Avoid using solid wire when possible, as it is prone to break when pulled. The N2 bus may be extended to a maximum length of 4,568 m (15,000 ft) using two repeaters. Use Figure 31 to make the N2 bus connections to the FXVMA. Use Figure 31 to make the BACnet MS/TP bus connections to the FXVMA. BACnet MS/TP devices, including the FXVMA, are networked together in a daisy-chain configuration. For runs up to 1,220 m (4,000 ft), we recommend you use stranded 22 AWG, twisted 3-conductor wire. Avoid using solid wire when possible as it is prone to break when pulled. Setting the N2 Address The N2 address switch sets a unique address for the FXVMA on the N2 Bus. Set the N2 address of the FXVMA using the DIP switches on the face of the FXVMA. Use address The address equals the sum of the numbers set to ON. For example, if the first (1), the third (4), and the fifth (16) DIP switches are set to ON, the device address is 21 ( = 21). The default position is OFF. If the FXVMA is at the end of a daisy chain of devices on the N2 or BACnet MS/TP bus, set the EOL switch to the ON position. See Figure 33. For the N2 profile, you can export the N2 Print File (*.prn), which describes the N2 point names and addresses. You can then use this file to map the N2 points into the supervisory controller s database.

37 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 37 Operation Programming and Configuration The FXVMA is shipped without any control application (applicationless). You must program the control application for the FXVMA controller using FX Builder. You then download the control application to the FXVMA at the job site, in your office, or at an Original Equipment Manufacturer s (OEM s) factory. FX Builder FX Builder is part of the FX Tool Pro software package and provides a fully programmable or configurable method for creating control applications for all FX Field Controllers, including the FXVMA (Figure 34). FX Builder provides a graphical programming environment with features that help you generate programs quickly and accurately. FX Builder provides you with all the tools you need to program the FXVMA including: selecting the FXVMA device type and configure its physical inputs and outputs engineering the control sequence of operation identifying the data points to be monitored and the format of the user interface defining the N2 or BACnet network profile FX Builder also features an Application Wizard, which allows you to select a predefined VAV control application and configure its various options and settings with an intuitive workflow.

39 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 39 Control Application Use FX Builder to build control algorithms and logic on a graphical canvas by creating and connecting instances of the objects in the database of the controller. An object is a functional block with inputs, attributes, an internal processing method, and outputs. By means of connections between inputs and outputs, values can pass between the objects or between the objects and the network profile. A connection always has the same direction: from the source to the destination. Sources can be the network variables inputs and configuration parameters in the network profile, and the object outputs. Destinations are the network variable outputs in the network profile and the object inputs. The object inputs are used by the object to obtain values from other objects or from the control system network via the network profile. The object uses the object outputs to present its results. The object outputs can then be used by other objects, or they can be sent to other devices through the network profile and the control system network. The objects also have some static values, set at design-time, known as attributes. These values are typically used to determine the behavior of an object or as default values in case input values are missing or have invalid values. The available objects in the FXVMA controller are shown in Table 5. For more information on how to use FX Builder, refer to FX Builder User Guide (LIT ).

42 42 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin You can use several objects of the same type within one control application. Each copy of an object type is called an instance of the object, and you can configure each instance differently according to the application requirements. For example, to read the physical inputs AI1 and AI2 on a controller, the control application should include two instances of the Analog Input object, which differ in their configuration. One instance is configured to read Channel 1. The other instance should read Channel 2. The FXVMA controller supports up to 255 object instances in the control application. When you are finished designing your control application, you export the application file (*.apd). This file is the file you download to the FXVMA controller. Downloading an Application Once you have programmed or configured the VAV box control application, you must download the application software file (*.apd) into the FXVMA. You use FX CommPro to download the application software into the FXVMA. FX CommPro is a computer-based software tool that provides many functions, including downloading the application software into the FXVMA. This tool (Figure 36) also provides online commissioning capabilities, which allows you to proceed immediately from downloading to commissioning the FXVMA. Connect your computer to the FXVMA via an approved interface depending on the communication protocol. For N2, use an approved RS-232 to RS-485 (for example, LP-KIT C) or USB to RS-485 converter (Figure 37). Make sure the converter supports the Automatic Send Data Control and does not require Request to Send (RTS)/Clear to Send (CTS) control. For BACnet MS/TP, use an approved BACnet IP to MS/TP router such as the LP-KIT C. You can connect directly to a single FXVMA via its Supervisory Link or to a network of multiple devices. Select the desired application file and click Open. The Download Operation Status window appears (Figure 41).

46 46 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin Commissioning Once you have downloaded the software application into the FXVMA, you can use FX CommPro or the Medium User Interface to perform online commissioning activities. Online commissioning is a set of processes you use to ensure the controller works as expected. Using FX CommPro for Commissioning FX CommPro is a software tool that allows you to monitor, override, and adjust points to determine if the controller operates as intended. For specific instructions on how to use FX CommPro, refer to the FX CommPro N2 User s Guide (LIT ) or the FX CommPro BACnet User s Guide (LIT ). In addition to providing commissioning features that are common to all FX Field Controllers, FX CommPro also provides the ability to invoke commissioning operations, which are unique to the FXVMA, including: performing a VAV Box Flow Test invoking the Balancer Override These special functions require that the application software loaded into the FXVMA contain the Box Flow Test and VAV Balancer Override objects. Note: These objects are included and configured in the standard VAV application.

47 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 47 Using the Medium User Interface (MUI) for Commissioning You can connect the MUI directly to the FXVMA at the plug marked REMOTE DISPLAY. When connected to the FXVMA, the MUI provides information and command capabilities needed for monitoring and commissioning the FXVMA and balancing the VAV box. The MUI s points list, command capabilities, and navigation are defined in the FXVMA application software. Use FX Builder to add the MUI to the control application; to identify which points are to be monitored, adjusted, or commanded; and to design the navigation.

48 48 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin Supervisory Network Integration The FXVMA features embedded N2 Open and BACnet MS/TP communications capability. This feature provides the ability for the FXVMA to be monitored and controlled by a supervisory class controller with either an N2 or a BACnet interface. Use FX Builder to define the N2 or BACnet network profile by selecting those application points you want exposed as N2 or BACnet points. When you finish defining the network profile, export the print file (*.prn) which contains the information needed to map the FXVMA s points into the supervisory controller s database. The *.prn file contains the N2 or BACnet Long Name, Short Name, Point Type and Point Address. Use the print file to map the FXVMA s points into the supervisory class controller. Note: When you add the FXVMA to the FX20/40/60 Supervisory Controllers, use FX Workbench to parse the application file (*.apd) to add the points to the station database. (The FX20/40/60 Supervisory Controllers are not available in Europe.) The FXVMA receives commands from the supervisory controller on the N2 or BACnet MS/TP Bus and transmits reports in return. The FXVMA does not support Change of Value (COV) signup, so each point is polled.

The FXVMA, like every other controller in the Facility Explorer family, reports as an N2 Open Compatible Vendor Device (VND). BACnet MS/TP Integration The BACnet MS/TP version of the FXVMA responds to standard BACnet requests (for example, Who-Is and Who-Has) from a BACnet supervisor, which enables the FXVMA and its objects to be discovered online.

52 52 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin Customer ID The customer ID protects a custom developed application within a controller. The customer ID also prevents unauthorized users from editing the application source code in FX Builder. Three Customer ID types are used: Public ID (default) Any user with the Public ID enabled in FX Builder can modify, download, and commission applications configured and saved with the Public ID. All controllers (except demo controllers) arrive from the factory with the Public ID as default. Demo ID You can only download applications configured and saved with the Demo ID to demo controllers (with the Demo ID in their database) or to controllers with the Public ID. Only users with the Demo ID in FX Builder can modify applications with the Demo ID. The FX Tools CD provides the Demo ID and is normally used in sales offices. Use the Demo ID to prevent demonstration equipment or product samples from being used for installations. Customer Specific/Private ID Users with the Customer Specific ID enabled in FX Builder can only read and modify source files for applications configured and saved with the same Customer Specific ID. Once you download a controller with a Customer Specific ID, the controller becomes customer specific and only allows users with the same Customer Specify ID to download applications. Unique Customer IDs are available to branch offices on request. Special Customer ID files are not included on the FX Tools CD. You can only reset a controller with a Customer Specific ID to the Public ID by returning it to the Johnson Controls factory or repair center.

53 FXVMA VAV Box Controller Technical Bulletin 53 Troubleshooting Reading 9999 or Invalid from the Analog Inputs Error/Condition: The analog input is represented as an invalid value in network variables or the user interface shows a value of 9999, or a customized tag shows an invalid value. Possible causes: The signal applied to the analog input channel does not match the software configuration of the Analog Input object or the signal is outside the configured reliability range. Solution: Check the sensor signal characteristics and modify the Analog Input object configuration via FX Builder. Verify that the sensor is functioning correctly and that the wiring is correct.
