3 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction INTENT DIGITAL s powerful ControLynx network based on the international EIA-709 LonWorks standard unleashes the unique command and control capabilities required in today s digital world. ControLynx network modules connected to a huge variety of equipment form a rugged control system that links to large scale data networks and the Internet. This network connectivity creates a whole new ability to remotely control devices, monitor status, and diagnose and maintain systems. 1.2 Using This Manual Note: Important information that you should read or be familiar with in order to understand the material being presented next. 4 1.4 Warranty For a period of one year from the date of purchase as shown on the sales invoice, INTENT DIGITAL warrants to the original purchaser that the VoteLynx module, (the Product ) is free from defects in material and workmanship when subjected to normal use and service. If during this one year period, such a defect due to faulty workmanship or materials should occur, the Product will be repaired or replaced (at INTENT DIGITAL's discretion) free of charge after the Product is returned, shipping prepaid, to INTENT DIGITAL. Units returned for warranty service must be shipped prepaid to INTENT DIGITAL for repair or replacement. Purchaser s exclusive remedy, and INTENT DIGITAL s sole obligation for any and all causes of action, claims, loss, property damage, personal injury, or liability, resulting from or related to any malfunction, interruption, or loss of use of the Product or related system is limited to the repair or replacement of the Product under the limited warranty provided herein. INTENT DIGITAL shall not be liable for any consequential damages (even if advised of the possibility of the same) or incidental liability or loss. In no event under any legal theory of liability shall INTENT DIGITAL s liability for any and all claims arising under or related to this Agreement exceed the purchase price of the Product. 4

5 2.0 INSTALLATION 2.1 Getting Started The TB-100 Terminal Block provides an easy way to manage the ControLynx cabling system. Mounted on the Terminal Block are 12 four pin Phoenix style connectors bussed together to allow simple distribution to multiple system network cables. The four pin connectors contain both power and network signals. A two pin 12 volt power connection is provided to connect to a ControLynx power supply. An internal 6.0 amp solid state auto-reset fuse protects the network and Terminal block from damage in the case of a short circuit or overload. The fuse will automatically reset once the short circuit or overload is removed. A two pin network connection is also provided to connect the network input to the terminal block or link network connections to additional TB-100 Terminal Blocks. SUPPLIED HARDWARE AND CABLES Check to make sure that you have received the following equipment and accessories with each ControLynx module. MOUNTING TERMINAL BLOCK The TB-100 Terminal Block has been designed for a many mounting possibilities. The unit will attach to any flat surface with mounting screws. Additionally, the hole arrangement also matches up with the hole spacing of standard EIA 19 rack rails. This allows the TB-100 to be mounted in racks or on rack panels. 6 SWITCHES & INDICATORS Power LED: Red LED lights to indicate that network power is present. Termination If only one terminal block is in the system then turn this switch Switch: on. If multiple terminal blocks are in a system then turn on this switch on only one terminal block. 2.2 Connector Pinouts TWO PIN POWER CONNECTIONS: The table below shows the connections to the two pin power terminal connector. This connector is for incoming power and has an internal 6.0 amp solid state auto-reset fuse to protect the Terminal block from damage in the case of a short circuit or overload. The fuse connects between this incoming power connector and the 12 four pin power/network connectors. Net A and Net B pins connect to the ControLynx network. The network connections are polarity independent so the module will work correctly no matter which direction the pins are connected to the network.
