2 Introduction Grandbeing s MX F is an 8-by-8 HDMI in HDMI out matrix. It allows any of the eight Inputs to be routed to any of the eight Outputs simultaneously, no matter the source is HDCP or not. When sources video formats are same, outputs can switch between sources seamlessly. If sources formats are different, switch time will be very fast. Users can choose several different ways to control the matrix: by using infrared extension receiver, RS232, RS485, and LAN and supplied remote control. IR emitters in the matrix are for controlling the sources; the IR control signal could be from remote locations when work with EX0101-H01 and EX0101-H02. Also provide Optical SPIDF out for every HDMI OUT. MX F offers solutions for digital entertainment center, HDTV retail and show site, HDTV, STB, DVD and projector factory, noise, space and security concerns, data center control, information distribution, conference room presentation, school and corporate training environments.

4 HDMI Matrix (Routing Type) Product Overview ( Model Number: MX F) Features Allows up to eight HDMI audio/video devices to be independently switched to eight HDMI monitors, HDTV s, or projectors. The eight outputs could show the same or different source simultaneously no matter the source is HDCP or not. Reading and saving EDID function from displays. Support high definition resolutions, including 1080p, 1080i, 720p and other standard video formats. Each port supports both HDMI and DVI inputs. With extra infrared extension receiver. Six switching modes: Touch panel, local IR, IR call back from remote locations, RS232, RS485 and Ethernet. Eight IR emitters to control the HDMI sources. HDCP compliant. HDMI 1.3. Page 1

The LAN port is connected to the computer via cross UTP and connected to the router or switcher via direct UTP. Page 4

8 Connections and Operations 1) Connect the HDMI input source ( such as HD-DVD/ PS3 /STB etc.)into MX F. 2) Connect HDMI OUT of MX F to display equipment ( such as: HD-LCD HD-DLP). 3) Connect SPDIF OUT to SPDIF IN of audio equipment ( such as: AVR ). 4) Power on the input source you want to show. ( Keep the unused input power off, otherwise it may interfere the normal display). 5) Plug the power cable into MX F. 6) Turn on power switch, the matrix is ready when Touch Panel show setting screen. 7) Turn on the displays you want to watch. 8) Use the remote to control the matrix, or using Touch Panel, RS232, RS485 and LAN port to control. 9) To use Remote IR call back, connect HDMI OUT of MX F to HDMI IN of EX0101-H01, connect IR for HDMI OUT to IR-TX of EX0101-H01. 10) Connect UTP OUT of EX0101-H01 to UTP IN of EX0101-H02. 11) Connect the Broadband IR receive cable into EX0101-H02 IR-RX port. 12) Connect the IR emitter cables into MX F IR emitter ports. 9 Operation 1. Operation on Touch panel. 1 Main Menu 2 Switch Menu TYPE A: Step A.1: Select an output port or A, and press OK, Step A.2: Select an input source, and press OK. TYPE B: Step B.1: Select a model, and press OK. NOTE: C means Clear, if type the wrong number, press C. A means All, only valid at step A.1. M means the model which records the state of the matrix routing switch, and there are three models provided. Page 6

10 3 Save Menu Step: Select a save model, and press OK. 4 Setting Menu There are 5 sub-menus here: EDID/LC/IR/EQ/RST. MX F only use EDID/IR/RST menu. i. EDID menu There are 6 mode provided. When select a different mode, and press OK, the following warning box will pop up: Page 7

11 The mode selected will be effective after next power-on. 12 Note: 2.See as note1. If the video appears noise or interference when using full copy mode, you can change to limited copy mode. Note: 3.The matrix will use the embedded 1080p-stereo EDID when this mode is effective. Note: 4.The matrix will use the embedded 1080p-5.1Audio EDID when this mode is effective. Note: 5.The matrix will use the embedded 1080p-7.1Audio EDID when this mode is effective. Note: 6.The matrix will use the embedded 1080i-stereo EDID when this mode is effective. ii. IR menu IR call back from remote locations to control the HDMI Matrix MX F. You can use the MX F s remote through the IR RX of EX0101-H02 to change the input channel for the UTP out of MX F, just changing this UTP output. 13 iii. RST menu Press RST, all of the settings will be reset to the default settings. 4 Info Menu NOTE: Red dot indicates that the corresponding RJ45 output port is in single output mode. Details please see the attached CD-ROM about RJ45 output mode switch instructions. Press MS -----View the current status of matrix Press M View the pre-existing state of matrix (Model 1) Press M View the pre-existing state of matrix (Model 2) Press M View the pre-existing state of matrix (Model 3) Press EQ View the current EQ setting status of matrix NOTE: If the touch screen becomes insensitive, calibration is necessary Touch screen calibration method: Press the panel button Setting in the home menu status, holding until the following prompt appears (about 4s). Press the symbol's center, until the one disappears and another symbol appears, and press its center again until the end of the calibration OK or Failure. If the calibration is fail, please Page 10

14 confirm whether the symbol s center was aligned, then try again. When finish the calibration, press the panel button Setting, holding until exit the calibration menu (about 4s) 2. Control via IR remote. NOTE: if the IR remote isn t work, please press thee system code switch key, but please do not put the remote against the MX F. 3. 15 2) The Message Window. 2.1) Receive Window. The receive window will show the message received from MX0808. When you click the Control Buttons ( see step 4) or send Control Command ( see 2.3) to MX0808, it will send out the message about operation results as below: 2.2) Status Button. Click this button to read the status of MX0808. The status is about which input is selected by the output. Page 12

16 2.3) Send Window. Input the control command in this window. The control command use ASCII. 2.4) Setting Button. Click this button to enter Setting menu, MX F only use Switch/IR Back/EDID Setting/Copy EDID Setting. 2.5) Set IP Button. Click this button to set IP address for LAN control (for example: ). Page 13

17 2.6) IR Set button. Click this button to set IR code for remote control. The device will enter ire set mode. You can edit your ire code in this mode. Step: 1, Read the ire code first by pressing "Read Code button. 2, Select the code with cursor which you want to change. 3, Press the button on your remote control with the remote against to the device. And the selected code will change to this button code. 4, when you finish it, click the "write code" button. It will write the new code onto device. 5. Close the IR Code setting window. The device will enter normal mode from IR setting mode. Notices: All the codes have to be filled in and no blank is allowed. The same data codes are not allowed, and every data code should be different ) Read Code button. Click this button to take out the current ire code form the device ) Write Code button. Click this button to write the codes onto the device. Page 14

18 2.7) EDID Set button Select the Output Port in Port Select column, click Read EDID button to get EDID from display equipment. Select the Input Port in Port Select column, click Download button to set EDID of this Input Port the same as display equipment. Click Save as button to save EDID read from display equipment as *.bin file. Click Open EDID button to open saved *.bin file, select the Input Port in Port Select column, click Download button to set EDID of this Input Port the same as *.bin file. 3) The Com Status. 3.1) connect state. Connect state shows the com open or not. If it is open, the state is green. Otherwise, the state is red. 3.2) com select. Select which com you will use. Connect button. The word on this button will change when the connection state changes. If the word is Disconnect, then click this button, the com will be closed. If the word is Connect, then click this button, the com will be opened. Page 15

19 4) Control command format. If user want to write his own control software, below are data format and baud rate setting. Com port setting: Baud Rate: Data bits: Parity: Stop bits: Flow control: The command format as follow: 9600 bps 8 bits None 1 bit None Cir + _ + code + Cir is the key word, _ is Space, Code is the Control code, and is carriage return. For example: Cir 39 (hex: D 0A), when the MX0808 received this command, it will change the Outport4 status to the next input port. ( c -0x63, I -0x69, r -0x72, -0x20, 3-0x33, 9-0x39, -0x0d0a) 5) Control code (MX F) Outport1 < 08 > Outport2 < 18 > Outport3 < 28 > Outport4 < 38 > Outport5 < 48 > Page 16

20 Outport6 < 58 > Outport7 < 68 > Outport8 < 78 > When you send a control command to the MX0808, if succeed, it will feedback current output port status to show which input port is selected. The return status format is as follows: For example, if you send cir 44 to MX0808,if succeeds, it will feedback s55\r\n, meanings Output5 selects Input5. 6) Read Status Command The command length is 4 bytes. bc + _ + bc is the key word, _ is Space, is carriage return. When you send the read status command to MX0808, if succeeds, it will feedback the status of all outputs. When you send bc to MX0808, if succeed, it will feedback the current status of MX0808. For example, if you send "bc "to MX0808,if succeeds, it will feedback "s11\r\n","s22\r\n","s33\r\n","s44\r\n","s55\r\n","s66\r\n","s77\r\n","s88\r\n". it means that the output 1 select the input 1, the output 2 selects the input 2, output 3 selects the input3, output 4 selects the input 4, output 5 selects input 5, the output 6 selects the input 6, the output 7 selects the input 7, the output 8 selects the input 8. 7) Web password reset The command length is 4 bytes. rpw+ rpw is the key word, is carriage return. When you send the Web password reset command to MX0808, if succeed, it will feedback "rpw", and the web password will be set as " ". Page 17

21 4. LAN control Note: Use the direct UTP cable to connect with PC, or use cross cable to connect to the Ethernet switcher. A. Double click Netfinder.exe. Click Search button to get the device IP address.. B. Click Web Browser button. A web browser will be shown. The default password is " ", input the password and login. The device controller page will be displayed. Page 18

22 The right area is for device controlling. Click these buttons to control the device. It is the same as using the remote controller. The left area shows which input ports are being chosen by the output ports. C. Telnet Control Telnet matrix s IP address Now you can control the matrix (Page 14: Control command format) Page 19

IR Call Back IR call back from remote locations to control the HDMI Matrix MX F.You can use the MX F s remote through the IR RX of EX0101-H02 to change the input source for UTP output connected to this EX0101-H02. This function can be set on or off through Touch Panel. 6. Instruction of IR TX The sequence of "IR TX1,IR TX2,IR TX3,IR TX4,IR TX5,IR TX6,IR TX7,IR TX8" one-to-one correspond with "HDMI INPUT1,HDMI INPUT2,HDMI INPUT3, HDMI INPUT4, HDMI INPUT5, HDMI INPUT6, HDMI INPUT7, HDMI INPUT8". When an output chooses certain input, the call-back IR signal of RJ45 on this output port will choose the corresponding "IR TX" port to send the signal out. For example, OUTPUT1 chooses INPUT3, then the call-back IR signal of RJ45 on OUTPUT1 will choose "IR TX3" to send the signal out. Definition of IR Earphone Jack. 25 Product Service Provided Service 1) Damage Requiring service: The unit should be serviced by qualified service personnel if: The DC power supply cord or AC adaptor has been damaged; Objects or liquids have gotten into the unit; The unit has been exposed to rain; The unit does not operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance; The unit has been dropped or the cabinet damaged. 2) Servicing Personnel: Do not attempt to service the unit beyond that described in these operating instructions. Refer all other servicing to authorized servicing personnel. 3) Replacement parts: When parts need replacing ensure the service uses parts specified by the manufacturer or parts that have the same characteristics as the original parts. Unauthorized substitutes may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards. 4) Safety check: After repairs or service, ask the service to perform safety checks to confirm that the unit is in proper working condition. Mail-In Service When shipping the unit, carefully pack and send it prepaid, adequately insured and preferably in the original carton. Include a letter detailing the complaint and provide a daytime phone and/or address where you can be reached. If repair is needed during the limited warranty period the purchaser will be required to furnish a sales receipt/proof of purchase indicating date of purchase, amount paid and place of purchase. Customer will be charged for the repair of any unit received without such proof of purchase. Warranty If your product does not work properly because of a defect in materials or workmanship, Grandbeing Company (referred to as the warrantor ) will, for the length of the period indicated Page 22

26 as below, (Parts (1) Year, Labor(90) Days)which starts with the date of original purchase ( Limited Warranty period ), at its option either (a) repair your product with new or refurbished parts, or (b) replace it with a new or a refurbished product. The decision to repair or replace will be made by the warrantor. During the Labor Limited Warranty period there will be no charge for labor. During the Parts warranty period, there will be no charge for parts. You must mail-in your product during the warranty period. This Limited Warranty is extended only to the original purchaser and only covers product purchased as new. A purchase receipt or other proof of original purchase date is required for Limited Warranty service. Warranty Limits And Exclusions 1) This Limited Warranty ONLY COVERS failures due to defects in materials or workmanship, and DOES NOT COVER normal wear and tear or cosmetic damage. The Limited Warranty ALSO DOES NOT COVER damages which occurred in shipment, or failures which are caused by products not supplied by the warrantor, or failures which result from accidents, misuse, abuse, neglect, mishandling, misapplication, alteration, faulty installation, set-up adjustments, maladjustment of consumer controls, improper maintenance, power line surge, lightning damage, modification, or service by anyone other than a Factory Service Center or other Authorized Service, or damage that is attributable to acts of God. 2) There are no express warranties except as listed under limited warranty coverage. The warrantor is not liable for incidental or consequential damages resulting from the use of this product, or arising out of any breach of this warranty. (As examples, this excludes damages for lost time, cost of having someone remove or re-install an installed unit if applicable, travel to and from the service location, loss of or damage to media or images, data or other recorded content. The items listed are not exclusive, but are for illustration only.) 3) Parts and service, which are not covered by this limited warranty, are your responsibility. Page 23
