6 DirectCommand Installation Safety Notices CAUTION: Hydraulic equipment should be on safety stops, hydraulic pressure relieved with machines systems turned off and all machine motion stopped before starting work. CAUTION: Be sure to wear proper eye protection when using any power tools, such as when drilling any mounting holes. IMPORTANT: Check behind vehicle and implement panels for any holes, wiring or controls that could be damaged when drilling any holes. IMPORTANT: Disconnect the Display, DirectCommand components and any sensors from electrical system when welding on equipment or jump starting unit to prevent component damage due to power surges or excessive current. IMPORTANT: If using a non Ag Leader GPS receiver, make sure to install a Null Modem Cable, included in the Display Kit, to prevent damage to the Display or GPS receiver. IMPORTANT: Use Dielectric grease to coat the seals and terminals of each connector that will be exposed to weather or chemicals as you plug them in. NOTE: Be sure to follow the alignment keys on the plugs and the receptacles carefully. Do not use excessive force when mating connectors. Page 6 of 13 January 2016 PN: Rev. A

7 Installing the Liquid Control Module and DC Motor Driver Step-by-Step instructions for installing the Liquid Control Module and DC Motor Driver Parts required for procedure: From DirectCommand Kit: (1) Mounting Kit Large Module Plate PN: (1) Module DC Motor Driver PN: (1) Module ISO Liquid Product PN: (1) Bracket DC Motor Driver PN: (1) Hardware Kit 6 PN: (1) Hardware Kit Small Module PN: The ISO Liquid Product Module may be mounted at the operator s discretion. Make sure the module is mounted in a location where the control cables will reach. 2. If mounting the ISO Liquid Product Module on an existing plate, using the module as a template, drill 5/16" diameter holes in the plate. Use 5/16" hardware provided in the Hardware Kit PN: to secure the module into place. 3. If mounting the ISO Liquid Product Module on a toolbar, the Large Module Mounting Kit PN: may be used for toolbars up to a 6 x6 square tube. 4. Mount the DC Motor Driver to the ISO Liquid Product Module using the mounting bar and 5/16 hardware provided in Small Module Hardware Kit, PN: DC Motor Driver Installation PN: Rev. A January 2016 Page 7 of 13

If mounting the DC Motor Driver on the AgXcel toolbar stand, use DC Motor Driver Bracket PN: to mount the Motor Driver to the stand using the carriage bolts, washers, and lock nuts in Hardware Kit 6, PN: as shown below. 9 Step-by-Step instructions for installing the CAN Cables 1. Plug the 24-pin FCI connector of the ISOBUS Breakout Cable, PN: to the mating connector of the Liquid Rate Control Module. 2. Connect the 6-pin Metripack plug of the ISOBUS Implement Cable PN: (sold separately) to the 6-pin Metripack receptacle of the ISOBUS Breakout Cable. 3. Connect the 6-pin Metripack plug of the ISOBUS Breakout Cable to the 6-pin Metripack receptacle of the Active Terminator Cable (Imp), PN: If the machine has an existing ISOBUS, Tee the 6-pin Metripack connectors into the existing system. 5. Connect the Local CAN Terminating Receptacle, PN: and the Local CAN Terminating Plug, PN: to the mating connectors of the ISOBUS Breakout Cable. ISOBUS Breakout ISOBUS Implement Cable Local CAN Terminating Rec. Local CAN Terminating Plug Active Terminator Cable Liquid Rate Control Module with ISOBUS Cabling 6. Connect one of the gray 2-pin power plugs on the ISOBUS Implement Cable into the mating 2-pin receptacle on the High Current Power Extension Cable, PN: PN: Rev. A January 2016 Page 9 of 13

Route the opposite end of the High Current Power Extension Cable toward the DC Motor Driver, connect the gray 2-pin Deutsch plug to the mating receptacle on the DC Motor Driver, PN: Connect a second gray 2-pin power plug on the ISOBUS Implement Cable into the mating 2-pin receptacle on the ISO Liquid Product Module. 9. Use the Dust Plug, PN: N to seal the brown receptacle on the ISO Liquid Product Module. Installing the Control and Flow Meter Cables Step-by-Step instructions for installing the Control and Flow Meter Cables Parts required for procedure: From DirectCommand Kit: (1) AgXcel Flow Meter/DC Motor Driver, ISO PN: (1) Cable AgXcel Dual Pump Control 3ft. PN: (1) Generic Cable Installation Kit PN: Locate the AgXcel Flow Meter/DC Motor Driver Cable, PN: , in the DirectCommand Kit. 2. Connect the gray 24-pin FCI plug from the above cable into the mating receptacle on the ISO Liquid Product Module. 3. Connect the black 2-pin Deutsch plug from the Flow Meter/DC Motor Driver Cable to the mating black receptacle on the DC Motor Driver. 4. Route the dual 3-pin connectors toward the product flow meter. 5. If using the Orion Mag Meter connect the 3-pin Metripack tower to the 3- pin Metripack shroud on the flow meter. 6. If using the Micro-Track flow meter connect the 3-pin Superseal tower to the 3-pin Superseal shroud on the flow meter. 7. Locate the AgXcel Dual Pump Control cable, PN: , connect the gray 2-pin Deutsch receptacle to the gray 2-pin plug on the DC Motor Driver, PN: Route the opposite end of the AgXcel Dual Pump cable toward the Electric Fertilizer Pump(s). 11 9. Connect one 2-pin Metripack tower to the Electric Fertilizer Pump when using a single pump system. 10. Connect the remaining 2-pin Metripack tower to the second Electric Fertilizer Pump when using a dual pump system. 11. Bundle cables and secure them as necessary with zip-ties from Cable Installation Kit, PN: Installing the ISO Swath Control Kit (Optional) Step-by-Step for Installing the ISO Swath Control Kit (Optional) Parts required for procedure: (1) Local CAN Breakout Cable PN: (1) Liquid Swath Control Module PN: (1) 12 Section Boom Cable PN: Mount the Liquid Swath Control Module PN: to the Module Mounting Plate with the Liquid Rate Control Module. 2. 12 DirectCommand Installation Local CAN Breakout Cable ISOBUS Breakout Cable Local CAN Terminating Rec. Local CAN Terminating Plug Liquid Swath Control Module with Local CAN Cabling 6. Connect the gray 12-pin plug on the 12 Boom Section Cable PN: to the gray 12-pin receptacle of the Liquid Swath Control Module PN: Connect the gray 2-pin receptacle on the 12 Boom Section Cable to one of the gray 2-pin plugs of the ISOBUS Implement Cable. 8. Connect the gray 2-pin plug of the 12 Boom Section Cable to the mating receptacle on the Liquid Swath Control Module. 9. Connect the 3-pin Weatherpack plugs of the 12 Boom Section Cable to the respective section valves on the implement. 10. Route all cables to avoid any sharp edges and pinch points. Bundle up all excess cable and tie with zip-ties. Setting up the Display 1. Refer to the ISO Liquid Feature User Guide, PN: for setting up the Ag Leader Display. 2. Enter the default settings from the following chart for the initial sprayer setup. Page 12 of 13 January 2016 PN: Rev. A

13 Setting Name Control Valve Default Value PWM 12 Volt 12V DC Motor PWM Configuration Description Rate Control is achieved through speed changes of the AgXcel Electric Fertilizer Pump(s). The PWM signal is sent from the LCM to the DC Motor Driver and then to the Electric Pump(s). PWM Frequency 100 This setting is the frequency that the 12V fertilizer pump is pulsed at. Gain* 19,000 Allowable Error 1% This setting determines how aggressively the fertilizer pump(s) responds when making rate change adjustments. The higher the value, the more aggressive the system response is. Note: Leaving all other control settings at the default value and making small adjustments to the Gain is usually all that is required to fine-tune the control system. Determines the percent of error that is allowed prior to the product control system making any flow rate corrections. Too low of a setting will cause the control system to continually hunt for the target application rate. Too high of a setting will cause excessive application error. Zero Flow offset 0 This setting represents the maximum duty cycle that is sent to the fertilizer pump without producing product flow. Using too high of a Zero Flow Offset value can cause the product delivery system to not properly shut off. Flow Meter Cal* *See Flow Meter This is the pulses per gallon through the flow meter.
