1 ( ) LOW VOLTAGE BYPASS/ISOLATION BREAKER BASED AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCHES PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 SCOPE A. The Contractor shall furnish and install the low voltage automatic transfer switch and bypass isolation transfer switch having the ratings, features/accessories and enclosures as specified herein and as shown on the contract drawings RELATED SECTIONS 1.03 REFERENCES A. The automatic transfer switch and bypass isolation switches and all components shall be designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with the latest applicable CSA standards as follows: 1. CSA 22.2 No. 178 Automatic Transfer Switches 2. CSA 22.2 No. 5.1 Molded Case Circuit Breakers 3. CSA 22.2 No. 5.2 Molded Case Switches 4. CSA C282 Emergency Electrical power Supply for Buildings 5. CSA Z32 Electrical Systems in Health Care Facilities 1.04 SUBMITTALS -- FOR REVIEW/APPROVAL A. The following information shall be submitted to the Engineer: 1. Master drawing index 2. Front view and plan view of the assembly 3. Schematic diagram 4. Nameplate schedule 5. Component list 6. Conduit space locations within the assembly 7. Assembly ratings including: a. Short-circuit rating b. Voltage c. Continuous current rating 8. Major component ratings including: a. Voltage b. Continuous current rating c. Interrupting ratings 9. Cable terminal sizes 10. Product Data Sheets. B. Where applicable, the following additional information shall be submitted to the Engineer:
2 1. Busway connection 2. Connection details between close-coupled assemblies 3. Composite front view and plan view of close-coupled assemblies 4. Interlock schematic drawing, Kirk-key or as indicated otherwise, and sequence of operations 5. Mimic bus. C. Submit ten (10) copies of the above information SUBMITTALS FOR INFORMATION A. When requested by the Engineer, the following product information shall be submitted: 1. Descriptive bulletins. 2. Product guides/sheets 1.06 SUBMITTALS FOR CONSTRUCTION A. The following information shall be submitted for record purposes: 1. Final as-built drawings and information for items listed in section Wiring diagrams 3. Certified production test reports 4. Installation information B. The final (as-built) drawings shall include the same drawings as the construction drawings and shall incorporate all changes made during the manufacturing process. C. Submit ten (10) copies of the above information QUALIFICATIONS A. The manufacturer of the assembly shall be the manufacturer of major components and control modules installed within the assembly. B. The manufacturer of this equipment shall have produced similar electrical equipment for a minimum period of five (5) years. When requested by the engineer, an acceptable list of installations with similar equipment shall be provided demonstrating compliance with this requirement. C. For the equipment specified herein, the manufacturer shall be certified as a minimum to ISO D. *Provide Seismic qualified equipment, when required, as follows: 1. The equipment and major components shall be suitable for and certified to meet all applicable seismic requirements of the [latest National Building Code of Canada (NBCC)]. 2. The Project Structural Engineer will provide site specific ground motion criteria for use by the manufacturer to establish Sa (0.2) value required. 3. The following minimum mounting and installation guidelines shall be met, unless specifically modified by the above referenced standards. a. The Contractor shall provide equipment anchorage details, coordinated with the equipment mounting provision, prepared and stamped by a licensed engineer in the province. Mounting recommendations shall be provided by the manufacturer based upon the above criteria to verify the seismic design of the equipment.

The equipment manufacturer shall certify that the equipment can withstand, that is, function following the seismic event, including both vertical and lateral required response spectra as specified in above codes. c. The equipment manufacturer shall document the requirements necessary for proper seismic mounting of the equipment. Seismic qualification shall be considered achieved when the capability of the equipment, meets or exceeds the specified response spectra REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS A. Provide a certificate of compliance with CSA 22.2 No. 178 for the transfer switches furnished under this section. The certificate of compliance is not required if the manufacturer s published data submitted and approved reflect CSA C22.2 No DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Equipment shall be handled and stored in accordance with manufacturer s instructions. One (1) copy of these instructions shall be included with the equipment at time of shipment FIELD MEASUREMENTS 1.11 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS A. Equipment operation and maintenance manuals shall be provided with each assembly shipped, and shall include instruction leaflets and instruction bulletins for the complete assembly and each major component EXTRA PRODUCTS PART 2 PRODUCT CONSTRUCTION 2.01 MANUFACTURERS A. Eaton B. C. The listing of specific manufacturers above does not imply acceptance of their products that do not meet the specified ratings, features and functions. Manufacturers listed above are not relieved from meeting these specifications in their entirety. Products in compliance with the specification and manufactured by others not named will be considered only if pre-approved by the engineer ten (10) days prior to bid date. Note to Spec. 4 2.02 RATINGS A. The bypass isolation automatic transfer switch shall have withstand, closing and interrupting ratings sufficient for the voltage and the available short circuit at the point of application as shown on the system drawings. B. The voltage rating of the transfer switch shall be no less than the system voltage rating. The continuous current rating of the transfer switch shall be no less than the maximum continuous current requirements of the system. C. The bypass isolation automatic transfer switch shall be 100% equipment rated for continuous duty. D. The bypass isolation automatic transfer switch shall be fully rated to protect all types of loads, inductive and resistive, from loss of continuity or power, without de-rating, either open or enclosed. E. When deemed necessary, the bypass isolation automatic transfer switch shall be Type B, 80% rated, and make use of integral overcurrent devices necessary for additional protection and coordination of circuit conductors. F. All control devices (i.e. pilot devices, relays, and metering) must be manufactured to industrial standards. All relays supplied shall be furnished with self-cleaning contacts. Transfer switches shall consist of completely enclosed contact assemblies and a separate control panel. The contact assemblies shall be operated by a non-fused motor operator or stored energy mechanism and will only be energized during a transfer operation, providing inherently double throw switching action. B. Each transfer switch shall be positively interlocked both mechanically and electrically to prevent simultaneous closing of both sources during automatic or manual operation. 5 shall be capable of achieving a neutral position for systems maintenance purposes. A transfer switch position indicator shall be included on the face of the transfer mechanism to display the switch position. C. Transfer switches shall be capable of being operated manually under full rated load conditions. Manual operation shall provide true quick-make, quick-break operation to prevent possible flashovers from switching the contacts slowly. D. On transfer switches requiring a fourth pole for switching the neutral, the neutral shall be fully rated with equal withstand, closing and interrupting ratings to the power poles. The neutral pole contacts shall be of identical construction as, and operate simultaneously with, the main power contacts. Switched neutral poles, which are add-on or overlap or that are not capable of breaking full rated load current are not acceptable. E. Main contacts shall be designed and type tested to withstand multiple fault currents and shall meet CSA 22.2 No. 178 and C22.2 No BYPASS ISOLATION SWITCH A. Single-sided (one-way) bypass-isolation switches shall provide manual bypass of the load to the emergency source only and permit isolation of the automatic transfer switch from all source and load conductors. All main contacts shall be manually driven and operated. B. Double-sided (two-way) bypass-isolation switches shall provide manual bypass of the load to the either source, emergency or normal, and permit isolation of the automatic transfer switch from all source and load conductors. All main contacts shall be manually driven and operated. C. Separate bypass and isolation handles shall be utilized to provide clear distinctions between these functions. All operators shall be permanently affixed and operable without opening the enclosure door (EEMAC1 only). D. For bypass operation, a single-throw isolating handle mechanism shall be operated to isolate the automatic transfer switch from the normal, emergency, and load power conductors. Bypass switches will only be permitted to operate when the isolating mechanism is in the isolation position. Emergency and normal bypass switches shall be interlocked via a mechanical interlocking plate. E. Field installation of power connections shall be at the line and load terminals of the bypass isolation switch. All power interconnections shall be silver-flashed or tin-plated copper bus. All control interwiring shall be provided with disconnect plugs MICROPROCESSOR LOGIC CONTROL A. The automatic transfer switch controllers shall meet or exceed the following standards in addition to the basic switch standards: 1. IEC EMC Testing and Measurement Techniques - Electrostatic Discharge Immunity Test 2. IEC EMC Testing and Measurement Techniques - Radio-frequency, Electromagnetic Field Immunity Test 3. IEC EMC Testing and Measurement Techniques - Electrical Fast Transient/Burst Immunity Test 4. IEC EMC Testing and Measurement Techniques - Surge Immunity Test
6 5. IEC EMC Testing and Measurement Techniques - Immunity to Conducted Disturbances, Induced by Radio-frequency Fields 6. IEC EMC Testing and Measurement Techniques - Voltage Dips, Short Interrupts and Voltage Variations Immunity Tests 7. CISPR11, Class B - Industrial, Scientific and Medical Radio-frequency Equipment - Electromagnetic Disturbance Characteristics - Limits and Methods of Measurement 8. FCC Part 15, Subpart B, Class B B. The transfer switch shall be controlled by a Eaton microprocessor-based controller. The controller shall be hardened against potential problems from transients and surges. Operation of the transfer switch and monitoring of both sources shall be managed by the controller. C. The logic control panel shall control the operation of the transfer switch. All sensing and logic shall be controlled by an onboard microprocessor for maximum reliability and minimum maintenance. The logic controller shall be connected to the transfer switch by and interconnecting wiring harness. The harness shall include a keyed disconnect plug to enable the control panel to be disconnect from the transfer switch for routine maintenance. Note to Spec. Writer (SELECT ONE): Breaker Based Transfer Switches have (2) models of Microprocessor-Based Controller units available: ATC-300+, Select Open transition breaker based transfer switches A {This Controller is versatile in its capabilities allowing for setup of most standard commercial and industrial applications. There is a system status display and the full feature set is accessible for programming adjustment from the LCD and membrane pushbuttons on the front faceplate} ATC-900, Select Open transition breaker based transfer switches A {This controller is full featured and available for use in Open transition applications. This controller also has a second set of engine start contacts for Generator to Generator applications.. It features a communications interface for connection to Power monitoring or building automation control systems through a gateway} MICROPROCESSOR-BASED CONTROLLER (ATC-300+ OPEN TRANSITION) A. The microprocessor-based controller display shall be UV resistant and include a 2-line, 16 character, backlit LCD display. The controller shall be capable of displaying transfer switch status, parameters, and diagnostic data. All set point parameters shall be password protected and programmable using the controller keypad or remotely using serial port access. B. The microprocessor-based controller shall include a mimic bus display consisting of four (4) individual LED s (3mm) for indicating the following: 1. Availability status of source 1 2. The controller shall have a voltage range of volts (50/60 Hz) and an accuracy of +/- 1% of nominal input voltage and a frequency range of Hz and an accuracy of +/-.3 H D. Voltage and frequency dropout and pickup parameters are set as a percentage of the nominal voltage as indicated in the table below Setpoint Sources Dropout Pickup Undervoltage Source1 and % (DO + 2%) - 99% Overvoltage Source 1 and % 103% - (DO 2%) Underfrequency Source 1 and % (DO + 1Hz) 99% Overfrequency Source 1 and % 101% - (DO 1Hz) Voltage Unbalance Source 1 and % (UNBAL DO% - 2) 3% E. The normal and emergency sources shall include phase reversal protection. The preferred rotation is programmable as ABC or CBA. F. A time delay shall be provided on transfer to source 2, adjustable from 0 to 1800 seconds G. A time delay shall be provided to override a momentary power outage or voltage fluctuation, adjustable from 0 to 120 seconds H. A time delay shall be provided on retransfer from source 2 to source 1, adjustable from 0 to 1800 seconds I. A time delay shall be provided after retransfer that allows the generator to run unloaded prior to shutdown, adjustable form 0 to 1800 seconds J. A time delay shall be provided for engine failure to start, fixed setting of 6 seconds K. A pre-transfer time delay output adjustable from seconds. The contact shall be a form-c contact rated for 10-Amp at 250-Vac and 10-Amp at 30-Vdc L. All delays shall be field adjustable from the microprocessor-based controller without the use of special tools M. Additional features: 1. One Form A contact for closure of the generator start circuit. The contacts shall be of silver alloy with gold flashing. The contacts shall be rated for 5-Amp at 250-Vac and 5-Amp at 30-Vdc 2. Programmable Engine Exerciser, selectable as disabled, 7, 14, or 28 day interval, adjustable minutes, load or no load with Failsafe 3. The controller shall include a keypad pushbutton to initiate a system test 4. The controller shall include a keypad pushbutton to bypass the time delay on transfer to emergency and the time delay on retransfer to normal
8 5. The controller shall include a terminal input to accept a remote contact which closes to initiate a transfer to source 2. This feature shall be failsafe and an automatic retransfer shall occur in the event that source 2 power is lost. 6. The controller shall include a terminal input to accept a remote contact which opens to inhibit transfer to source. 7. One Form C auxiliary contact to indicate source 1 position and one Form C contact to indicate source 2 position. The contacts shall be rated for 10-Amp, 1/3-Horsepower at 250-Vac and 10- Amp at 30-Vdc. 8. One Form C contact for source 1 present. The contacts shall be rated for 10-Amp, 1/3- Horsepower at 250-Vac and 10-Amp at 30-Vdc. 9. One Form C contact for source 2 present. The contacts shall be rated for 10-Amp, 1/3- Horsepower at 250-Vac and 10-Amp at 30-Vdc. 10. Historical Data Storage to include: a. Engine Run Tim b. Source 1 Available Time c. The transfer switch shall be transferred by actuating a two position maintained selector switch labeled Source 1 and Source 2. A 30mm pilot light shall be provided labeled Not in Automatic. 2. Manual Retransfer Control: The ATS shall remain connected to the emergency source after the normal source becomes available until a momentary pushbutton contact closure signal is received to initiate the retransfer. Should a failure of the emergency source occur while waiting for the manual return, the re-transfer proceeds automatically. 3. Communications Interface to be [Modbus 485] [Ethernet TCP/IP]. 4. Display shall be a touchscreen color display capable of monitoring up to 8 transfer switches on one screen. 2. General screen shall include a mimic bus display for each transfer switch with indication of source availability, based on controller pickup and dropout settings, and switch position. 3. Each mimic bus display shall be marked with the designation of the transfer switch monitored. 4. Display shall include indication of switch in test mode, manual retransfer status, and go to emergency status. 5. Shall include the ability to view source data and event logs for each transfer switch. b. Control Functions 1. Control functions shall be password protected and shall include: c. Alarms a. Initiate engine test. b. Initiate a failsafe transfer to source 2. c. Initiate manual retransfer. d. Alarm silence. 1. Remote Annunciator shall provide audible and visual alarm when on source 2 2. Visual alarm upon failure of communication link. d. Mounting: Flush, modular, unless otherwise indicated. e. Communications capability to be compatible with ATS controller. -- OR MICROPROCESSOR-BASED CONTROLLER (ATC-900 OPEN TRANSITION) A. The microprocessor-based controller display shall be UV resistant and include a 4.3 inch Color TFT (480x272), backlit display. The controller shall be capable of displaying transfer switch status, parameters, and diagnostic data. All set point parameters shall be password protected and programmable using the controller keypad, USB port, or remotely using serial port access. Limited abbreviations or codes shall be used for transfer switch functions B. K. A pre and or post transfer time delay output adjustable from seconds. The contact shall be a form-c contact rated for 10-Amp at 250-Vac and 10-Amp at 30-Vdc. L. All delays shall be field adjustable from the microprocessor-based controller without the use of special tools. M. Additional features: 1. One Form C contact for closure of the source 1 generator start circuit for optional use with a dual generator system. The contacts shall be rated for 5-Amp at 250-Vac and 5-Amp at 30-Vdc. 2. One Form C contact for closure of the source 2 generator start circuit. The contacts shall be rated for 5-Amp at 250-Vac and 5-Amp at 30-Vdc. 3. The controller shall include two independently programmable Engine Exercisers, selectable as disabled, 7, 14, or 28 day interval, or by calendar date. Run time shall be adjustable for 0-600
11 minutes, with or without load. Upon loss of source 2 power, the ATS shall automatically return to source 1. Transfer time delays shall also be independently programmable for test events. 4. The controller shall include a keypad pushbutton to initiate a system test. 5. The controller shall include 4 user configurable inputs. Each input provides 50 volts at 10ma and can be user configured to one of the following features: a. Input to accept a remote contact which closes to initiate a transfer to source 2. This feature shall be failsafe and an automatic retransfer shall occur in the event that source 2 power is lost. b. Input to accept a remote contact which closes to initiate a transfer to source 2. This feature shall be failsafe and an automatic retransfer shall occur in the event that source 2 power is lost. c. Input to accept a remote contact which opens to inhibit transfer to source 2. d. Input to enable monitor mode to disable automatic operation of the transfer switch while continuing to display status. Monitor mode allows set point programming at the controller display. e. Input to enable lockout feature to disable automatic operations of the transfer switch following an overcurrent trip of an integral circuit breaker. f. Input to enable or disable manual retransfer to source 1 g. Input to initiate manual retransfer to source 1 h. Input to initiate a remote engine test. The test will run using the programmed engine test set points i. Input to select source 1 or source 2 as the preferred source j. Input to initiate a remote load test k. Input to indicate the bypass transfer switch is closed on a source l. Input to bypass time delays m. Input to receive engine start signal from a master controller in a three source application. 6. The controller shall include 4 user configurable outputs rated for 10-Amp at 250-Vac and 10- Amp at 30-Vdc. Each input can be user configured to one of the following features: a. Source 1 connected b. Source 2 connected c. ATS in test d. ATS not in automatic mode (Monitor Mode) e. General Alarm indication for failure to transfer, mechanical fault, or electrical fault f. Engine Test Aborted g. Engine cool down in process h. Engine start contact status i. Emergency inhibit on j. Load sequence Output used to signal select loads to disconnect prior to transfer and reconnect seconds after. Loads are reconnected sequentially. k. Selective load shed Output used to shed low priority loads when the load reaches a programmed threshold value. A load shed and load restore set point (measured in kw) are associated with this feature. l. Load bank control Output to disconnect a load bank during an engine run test if a transfer to a source 2 generator is required.
12 m. Pre and/or post transfer signal - A pre and or post transfer time delay output adjustable from seconds. 7. One Form C auxiliary contact to indicate Source 1 position and one Form C contact to indicate source 2 position. The contacts shall be rated for 10-Amp, 1/3-Horsepower at 250-Vac and 10- Amp at 30-Vdc. 8. One Form C contact for Source 1 Available. The contacts shall be rated for 10-Amp, 1/3- Horsepower at 250-Vac and 10-Amp at 30-Vdc. 9. One Form C contact for Source 2 Available. The contacts shall be rated for 10-Amp, 1/3- Horsepower at 250-Vac and 10-Amp at 30-Vdc. 10. Data Logging: a. Historical Data Storage to include: 1. Engine Run Time 2. Source 1 Available time 3. Source 2 Available time 4. Source 1 Connected time 5. Source 2 Connected time 6. Source 1 Engine Run Time 7. Source 2 Engine Run Time 8. Load Energized Time 9. Number of Transfers b. Event Summary shall include up to 100 date and time stamped events. All metered values are logged for each event. Event summaries include: 1. Transfer events 2. Alarms 3. Changes to the set points 4. Changes to the time/date 5. Resetting a historical counter 6. Engine Run test c. Event Details shall include up to 350 date and time stamped events. All metered values are logged for each event. Event details include detailed sequence of operations of a transfer event. d. Event recording shall capture 4 seconds of metered data, stored every 20 msec for certain events. The data is captured 2 seconds before and 2 seconds after the event. Oscillographic data for 10 events is stored and may be downloaded over USB. Events Include: 1. Source unavailability actions that initiate a transfer sequence (Undervoltage, Overvoltage, etc.) 2. Successful transfers (at the point of breaker/contactor closure)\ 3. Unsuccessful transfers (at the point of breaker/contactor failure to close or open) N. Optional accessories
13 1. Non-Automatic Control: Provide a 2-Position Selector Switch, maintained contact, marked: Automatic and Non-Automatic. The transfer switch shall be transferred by actuating a two position maintained selector switch labeled Source 1 and Source 2. A 30mm pilot light shall be provided labeled Not in Automatic 2. Non-Automatic Control: Provide a 3-Position Selector Switch, maintained contact, marked: Automatic and Non-Automatic. The transfer switch shall be transferred by actuating a three position maintained selector switch labeled Source 1, Off and Source 2. A 30mm pilot light shall be provided labeled Not in Automatic. 3. Manual Retransfer Control: The ATS shall remain connected to the emergency source after the normal source becomes available until a momentary pushbutton contact closure signal is received to initiate the retransfer. Should a failure of the emergency source occur while waiting for the manual return, the re-transfer proceeds automatically. 4. Device panel mounted Preferred Source Selector switch 5. Device panel mounted Source 2 Inhibit keyed switch with 30mm white pilot light indicating inhibit status. 6. Device panel mounted selector switch to initiate a load transfer to source 2. This operation shall be failsafe to initiate an automatic retransfer upon loss of source 2 power. 7. Communications Interface to be [Modbus RTU] [Modbus TCP/IP] 8. Where indicated on the drawings, provide [50KA] [100KA] surge protection device on source 1 9. Space heater with thermostat rated for [100 watts] [400 watts] 10. Mounting: Flush, modular, steel cabinet, unless otherwise indicated. f. Communications capability to be compatible with ATS controller. 12. Three Source Transfer Control The ATC-900 controller shall include a Master/Slave functionality for use in configuring two independent transfer switches as a three source transfer system. a. Sequence of operations - In the event of a source 1 power failure the Master ATS controller shall send an engine start signal to the slave input on the Slave controller. The slave controller shall send an engine start signal to both generators. If a preferred generator is selected, the Slave controller will count down through the time delay for engine failure and remain on the preferred generator if it is available. If the preferred generator is not available at that time, the Slave ATS will transfer to the non-preferred generator. If none-preferred is selected, the Slave ATS will transfer to the first available generator. The unused generator will be shut down as soon as the Slave ATS is connected to a good source CUSTOMER METERING {OPTION 18} Where indicated on the drawings, provide customer metering to include the following: Note to Spec. Terminal blocks shall conform to NEMA ICS 4. Terminal blocks for remote connections shall be arranged to facilitate the entrance of external conductors from the top or bottom of the enclosure. The main transfer switch terminals shall be suitable for the termination of conductors shown on the plans ENCLOSURE A. Each transfer switch shall have an EEMAC1 general purpose enclosure unless otherwise noted. Enclosure options include EEMAC 1, 12, 3R, 4, and 4X FINISH A. The enclosure shall be painted with the manufacturer s standard painting procedures to ensure suitability for environmental conditions as referenced in the plans. EEMAC 1, 12, 3R and 4 enclosures shall be painted with the manufacturer s standard ASA 61 gray paint. EEMAC 4X shall non-painted stainless steel construction. PART 3 OPERATION 3.01 TRANSFER SWITCH OPERATION A. The following Voltage and Frequency sensing shall be supplied: 1. The voltage of each phase of the normal source shall be monitored, with dropout adjustable from 50% to 90% of nominal and pickup adjustable from [dropout setting +2%] to 100% of nominal 2. The voltage of each phase of the emergency source shall be monitored, with dropout adjustable from 50% to 90% of nominal and pickup adjustable from [dropout setting +2%] to 100% of nominal 3. The frequency of the emergency source shall be monitored, with dropout adjustable from 90% to 100% of nominal and pickup adjustable from [dropout setting +1 Hz] to 110% of nominal. 4. Voltage measurement accuracy shall be +/-2% of nominal input voltage and frequency measurement accuracy shall be +/-0.1 Hz. B. The following Time Delay features shall be supplied: 1. A time delay shall be provided to override a momentary power outage or voltage fluctuation, adjustable from 0 to 120 seconds. 2. A time delay shall be provided on transfer to emergency, adjustable from 0 to 30 minutes. Note to Spec. Writer Select one
16 3. A time delay shall be provided on retransfer from emergency to normal, adjustable from 0 to 30 minutes. This time delay shall be bypassed if emergency source fails and normal source is available. 4. A time delay shall be provided after retransfer that allows the generator to run unloaded prior to shutdown, adjustable from 0 to 30 minutes. 5. All delays shall be field adjustable from the microprocessor-based controller without the use of special tools ACCESSORIES A. Selectable 3-phase(φ) or 1-phase(φ) failure protection on normal supply. B. Selectable 3-phase(φ) or 1-phase(φ) failure protection on emergency supply. C. Pilot light indication of transfer switch position and availability of normal emergency voltage sources. D. Transfer switch position indicator E. A momentary test selector switch or pushbutton shall be provided to simulate normal source failure. F. Engine start contacts. G. Transfer motor disconnect intended for manual operation OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES A. Auxiliary relay contacts shall be provided that are energized when power is available on the normal source. B. Auxiliary relay contacts shall be provided that are energized when power is available on the emergency source. C. Exerciser: Provide an engine generator exercising timer that is selectable for either load or noload transfer. D. Pre-Transfer Signal: Provide a pre-transfer signal adjustable from seconds for up to 10 devices. E. Preferred Source Selector: Transfer switch logic shall have the ability for the user to define a preferred source, selectable between Source 1, Source 2, or None. F. Load Sequencing: Transfer switch logic shall allow the ability to perform load sequencing of 0-10 devices. PART 4 EXECUTION 4.01 EXAMINATION 4.02 FACTORY TESTING A. The following standard factory tests shall be performed on the equipment provided under this section. All tests shall be in accordance with the latest version of CSA and EEMAC standards. 1. Insulation check to ensure the integrity of insulation and continuity of the entire system
17 2. Visual inspection to ensure that the switch matches the specification requirements and to verify that the fit and finish meet quality standards 3. Mechanical tests to verify that the switch s power sections are free of mechanical hindrances 4. Electrical tests to verify the complete electrical operation of the switch and to set up time delays and voltage sensing settings of the logic B. The manufacturer shall provide three (3) certified copies of factory test reports INSTALLATION A. The contractor shall install all equipment per the manufacturer s recommendations and the contract drawings. B. All necessary hardware to secure the assembly in place shall be provided by the contractor. C. The equipment shall be installed and checked in accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Provide the services of a qualified factory-trained manufacturer s representative to assist the contractor in installation and start-up of the equipment specified under this section for a period of working days. The manufacturer s representative shall provide technical direction and assistance to the contractor in general assembly of the equipment, connections and adjustments, and testing of the assembly and components contained therein. B. The contractor shall provide three (3) copies of the manufacturer s field start-up MANUFACTURER S CERTIFICATION A. A qualified factory-trained manufacturer s representative shall certify in writing that the equipment has been installed, adjusted and tested in accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations. B. The Contractor shall provide three (3) copies of the manufacturer s representative s certification TRAINING A. The contractor shall provide a training session for up to five (5) owner s representatives for normal workdays at a jobsite location determined by the owner. B. The training session shall be conducted by a manufacturer s qualified representative. The training program shall consist of the instruction on the operation of the assembly, circuit breakers and major components within the assembly FIELD SERVICE ORGANIZATION A. The manufacturer of the ATS shall also have a national service organization that is available throughout Canada and is available on a call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. B. Equipment warranty shall be extended to two years from date of installation when service representatives employed by the equipment manufacturer perform installation. Note to Spec.
