Aircraft grade aluminum construction, rugged 1/4 milled solid front panel, self locking stainless hardware, robust construction designed and manufactured in the USA. These system are ideal for high shock / high vibration environments such as vehicular or aircraft mount or transit case installation. The short depth of 20 inches allows it to fit virtually all transit cases. The rugged construction and enhanced features will assure its reliable operation in that challenging environment. 2 NEXT GENERATION SOLUTION R4U-20A RUGGED COTS Plus 4U ENCLOSURE Primary construction is from high strength aircraft grade.090-inch 5052-H32 aluminum alloy. The front panel is milled from a single piece of.250-inch aluminum. A formed and welded aluminum door covers the drives and supports the air filter and honeycomb EMI filter. An integrated system is very light at only lbs depending on installed components. At only 20- inches deep, this makes the R4U-20A perfect for transit case installations. For environmental and emissions protection, the front panel provides an embedded EMI/environmental gasket and multiple captive fasteners on the door to secure the system from contamination. The lid is secured with 21 captive screws and is provided with an EMI/environmental gasket. A key feature for system survivability is the card hold down bracket and individually tailored card support brackets. The overall effect is a very robust enclosure to protect the system in any foreseeable environmental environment. Cooling is provided by two Sanyo-Denki aluminum body High Reliability Series (>100K hrs MTBF) 92mm fans providing 60CFM each of high pressure air flow. The front door is provided with an easily serviced and washable air filter with various classes available. Chassis Plans proprietary SysCool fan alarm board provides fan throttling for quiet operation as well as over- temperature alarm and fan failure alarm. Optional higher velocity fans and rear fans are available. The system is provided with three front accessible 5-1/4 inch drive bays and one slim line floppy and DVD drive. A variety of hot swap drive carriers are available. Provision for 2-1/2 inch or solid state drives can be made for extreme environments or extended temperature requirements. System controls are mounted behind the front door and include power control and alarm reset. Mounted in the front panel is the Power-on LED, HDD Access, Fan Failure and Overtemp LEDs. Two USB ports are also provided behind the front door. Custom control and indicator configurations are easily accommodated. The R4U-20A provides for mounting an ATX motherboard. This configuration fits the mission requirements for access to the latest processing technology and lower cost. A hold-down bar provides for securing installed cards for any adverse shock and vibration environment. A standard 4U PS/2 style power supply can be mounted including redundant supplies and DC input. A Mil Std 704 or 1275 compliant supply is available for military airborne or ground installations. The chassis provides a rear mounted ground stud and low smoke / zero halogen wiring is available for military compliance. All fasteners are stainless steel and either self locking or are secured with Loc-Tite during assembly. Chassis Plans products are designed and being tested to meet MIL-STDs 810G, 167-1, 461F, and 901D requirements. On-site, next day and extended warranties are available.
