3 document Page 3 of 18 Kiosk Mount Order Confirmation System Installation Instructions 1. Introduction. a. The Techknow, Inc kiosk is a large plastic enclosure that has been designed to hold the Techknow Inc. Order Confirmation Display or Board (OCB). The kiosk also replaces the speaker post at the drive through of quick service restaurants. (QSR). The kiosk protects the OCB and hides the electrical wiring from public view. b. The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines for installing and configuring a kiosk based Order Confirmation System (OCS). c. There are three basic configurations for an OCS system. It may be necessary to refer to the installation manuals for these different configurations. These configurations are: i. Stand alone OCB ii. OCB with timer system with Point of Sale (POS) serial cable. iii. OCB with timer system with Ethernet communications. 2. Equipment to be installed. a. DFP LCD sealed screen OCB b. Kiosk c. AWC500 or Lantronix d. Vehicle detect boxes e. Cat6 Ethernet cable (200 ) f. OCB install kit. g. Items not supplied i. Electrical receptacle ii. Toilet bowl shims iii. Twisted shielded wire iv. 4 document Page 4 of Preparations to mount Kiosk a. Site preparation for new installation. i. A twenty four inch by twenty four inch by twenty four inch concrete slab should be poured prior to the time to install the kiosk. See figure 4.a ii. Four anchor bolts should have been installed to bolt down the kiosk. If not the concrete will need to be drilled and anchor bolts installed. iii. Three conduit stubs should be protruding from the pad. The conduit will be used as follows; 1. To bring the loop wires into the kiosk. 2. To bring 120 VAC, 20 Amp power from the store to the kiosk. 3. To route the low voltage signals into the store. The low voltage signals are as follows: a. CAT6 network communications line. b. Continuation of the loop wires. c. Speaker line d. Microphone line The bolt pattern is 12 x 5 on center using 1/2 - #13 studs. 24 Enclosure opening for conduit is 8 x 8. 5 document Page 5 of 18 b. Site preparation for existing installation i. Disconnect the old speaker and microphone. ii. Carefully remove the old speaker post being careful not to cut audio wires or loop wires. iii. Measure and mark locations for new bolts. If old bolts do not fit the pattern remove or cut them off flush with the pad. iv. Drill holes and install new bolts. Note: In some cases the conduit will need to be run up and over the concrete pad and into the side of the kiosk. Preparations for running this conduit should be made. Techknow does not supply the Anchor Bolts to mount the kiosk. For new stores have the construction crew mount the kiosks per the spec. Most installers are not licensed electricians, and if a new pad has to be poured it would take two trips therefore we recommend sending the kiosk to the restaurant ahead of time and having the owner use his own contractors or maintenance staff to mount the kiosk, this will save them money. Recommended fasteners New Pad - Anchor Bolts (right angle bend) Bent anchor bolts are embedded in concrete and can be used to support the kiosk if a new pad is being poured. The bent portion, or "leg", of the anchor bolt serves to create resistance so that the bolt does not pull out of the concrete foundation when force is applied. We recommend ½ inch anchor bolts 8-12 inches Existing Pad - Sleeve Anchor Red Head Use large enough washers (inside diameter ½ outside diameter 1 ½ ) 1. Use a bit with a diameter equal to the anchor. See selection chart to determine proper size bit for anchor used. Drill hole to any depth exceeding minimum embedment. Clean hole. 2. Insert assembled anchor into hole, so that washer or head is flush with materials to be fastened. 3. Expand anchor by tightening nut or head 2 to 3 turns.

Slide card board sleeve up and off of kiosk d. Remove kiosk from bottom packing e. Locate key attached to back cover f. Unlock and remove back cover g. Remove CAT6 wire from kiosk (200 roll)

7 document Page 7 of Pull Electrical Wiring Note: It is preferred that the OCB be on its own dedicated circuit. If this is not practical then the circuit that is used to power the OCB must be active 24/7. Note: Electrical wiring must be done by certified electrician. Note: Low voltage lines must not be run in the same conduit as the 120 VAC. a. Pull power line from kiosk to power source. Leave approximate 2 sticking out of conduit. Do not connect to power. b. Label and pull low voltage lines from kiosk to inside the store near their destinations. i. CAT6 wire ii. Shielded twisted pair for microphone. iii. Shielded twisted pair for speaker. iv. Shielded twisted pair for loop. 7. Mount the Kiosk to the Pad a. Remove nuts from pad bolts. Inspect bolt threads, clean, and repair as necessary. b. Sweep Pad clean. c. Place kiosk enclosure on the pad aligned with bolts and conduit. d. If necessary shim frame to level kiosk (Toilet bowl shims make excellent shims, avoid using wood), tighten nuts unto bolts firmly. e. Refer to Figure 7.a.

8 document Page 8 of 18 Figure 7.a Kiosk located on concrete pad. 8. Make Wire Connections at the Kiosk. a. Connect CAT6 wire i. Locate the CAT6 junction box located on the frame of the kiosk and pull cover off. Figure 8.a CAT6 Junction Box

9 document Page 9 of 18 ii. Route the CAT6 wire to the CAT6 junction box on the kiosk frame and cut off excess wire. iii. Connect the CAT6 wire to the kiosk CAT6 junction box following punch down instructions in Appendix A. iv. Tighten tie wrap and cut off excess. Install cover. b. Make Microphone connections. i. Locate the wire coming from the top of the kiosk. Strip wires. ii. Locate the wire coming from the store label for the microphone. Strip wires. iii. Twist the ends of the red wires together, the black wires together, and the shield drain together. iv. Solder the connections. (Use lead free solder.) v. Cap the connections with a wire nut. See figure 8.b c. Make Speaker connections. i. Locate the wire coming from the lower compartment of the kiosk. Strip wires. ii. Locate the wire coming from the store label for Speaker. Strip wires. iii. Twist the ends of the red wires together, the black wires together, and the shield drain together. iv. Solder the connections. (Use lead free solder.) v. Cap the connections with a wire nut. See figure 8.b d. Make loop connections. i. Locate the wire coming from the loop conduit. Strip wires. ii. Locate the wire coming from the store label for the loop connection. Strip wires. iii. Twist the ends of the red wire and the black to the wires coming from the loop. Cut the drain wire off. iv. Solder the connections. (Use lead free solder.) v. Cap the connections with a wire nut. See figure 8.b Figure 8.b Low voltage connections

10 document Page 10 of 18 e. Connect the Power Receptacle i. Remove cover from electrical junction box located on the frame of the kiosk ii. Route the power wires or cable through the strain relief on the junction box. Note: Some localities will require the wires to be run in flexible conduit. iii. Following NEC, connect an approved receptacle to the wires. iv. Install the receptacle in the junction box. v. Tighten strain relief screws on junction box. vi. Install cover onto receptacle. f. Tie wrap wires securely. Separate low voltage wiring from power wiring. 9. Install the OCB a. Remove the OCB from its packaging. b. Obtain the t-bar handle screw from the install kit. c. Remove and discard the plastic screw and wing nut holding the front window in place. d. With the power cord on the bottom, slide the OCB into the brackets on the kiosk frame. e. Secure the OCB by installing the t-handle screw into the top of the OCB and through front window bracket and the frame bracket. Push the OCB to the front of the kiosk and push the window frame toward the kiosk while tightening the t-handle screw. f. Obtain 3 patch cable from the install kit and connect the OCB to the CAT6 junction box. g. Plug the OCB s power cord in the receptacle. 10. Install the Rear Door. a. Install and lock rear door. b. Clean up around kiosk and dispose of all packing material. c. Remove protective paper from front window. d. Proceed to make in store wiring connections and installations. 11. In Store Wiring Connections a. 120 VAC Power Connection i. Follow the NEC and local ordinances; connect the power wires to the electrical source. Note: It is preferred that the OCB be on its own dedicated circuit. If this is not practical then the circuit used to power the OCB must be active 24/7. Note: Electrical wiring must be done by certified electrician. ii. Energize the breaker of the circuit supplying the kiosk with power. iii. The OCB should boot and the presale screen display. b. Connect the microphone line to the microphone input on the sound system. i. Insure the shield drain wire is connected to the ground or shield terminal of the sound system. c. Connect the speaker line to the external speaker output on the sound system.

11 document Page 11 of 18 i. Insure the shield drain wire is connected to the ground or shield terminal of the sound system. d. Connect the loop line to the loop connections on the vehicle detect box. i. Insure the shield drain wire is connected to the ground or shield terminal of the vehicle detect box. e. Complete CAT6 connections. i. Obtain a CAT6 junction box from the install kit and mount it near the hub in the store. If there is no hub then install the hub supplied with the install kit. ii. Refer to Figure 8.a iii. Connect the CAT6 wire to junction box located near the hub following punch down instruction in Appendix A. iv. Obtain a 3 patch cable from the install kit and connect the inside junction box to the hub. Any open connection on the hub other than the cross over connector will suffice. 12. Setup and Testing a. Refer to the Timer Installation Manual for setup and testing. 13. Completion a. Secure tools b. Clean up work areas.
