Connecting the SS900 According to standard industry practice, surge protection is recommended for the power and the telephone line connections. The rear panel of the SS900 includes seven (7) 3.5mm jacks and one (1) telephone jack. Plug one end of the provided telephone cable into the SS900 jack labeled Line In. There are a variety of these cables at your local electronics store. Some cables have one wire and two plugs (one plug at each end of the cable) or two wires and four plugs (two wire cable with a plug at each end of each cable). You may use either of these cables to connect equipment to the SS900. Be sure that you purchase stereo cables instead of mono cables. SS9000 Operator s Guide 2

When using the headset to listen to audio and a call comes in, the SS900 will provide an audible alert through one headset speaker. Press the Phone button to answer the call. SS9000 Operator s Guide 6

When using external speakers to listen to audio, and you hear your telephone ring, press the Phone button in. 11 The ComSwitch products are compatible with the following telephone company services: Call Waiting, Caller ID, Call Waiting Caller ID, Call Conferencing, Distinctive Ring and Voice Mail. ComSwitch products will answer incoming telephone calls and route the call to the appropriate device. Fax calls go to the fax, phone calls go to the phone. Connect the SS900 as follows: Connecting the SS900 to HotCall HotCall is a phone/internet Call Waiting (and/or Call Waiting Caller ID) device that allows you to receive phone calls while surfing the net. When HotCall is connected to the SS900, it allows you to answer the phone on your multimedia headset while maintaining your Internet connection. SS9000 Operator s Guide 8

Connecting the SS900 to the HC4000 With the HC4000 (in this example), you will see who s calling before you answer the phone*. If you decide to answer the call, you have approximately 10 seconds to decide if you want to continue the phone call, or hang up and go back to your Internet connection. The HC4000 protects your modem connection from being bumped off the telephone line when the Call Waiting Caller ID information is received. Connect the SS900 as follows: (* Application requires Call Waiting Caller ID from your local phone company.) SS900 Operator s Guide

Connecting the SS900 to the HC2000 With the HC2000 (in this example), if you decide to answer a call, you have approximately 10 seconds to decide if you want to continue the phone call, or hang up and go back to your Internet connection. The HC2000 protects your modem connection from being bumped off the telephone line when the Call Waiting Caller ID information is received. Connect the SS900 as follows: (* Application requires Call Waiting from your local phone company.) SS9000 Operator s Guide 10

Connecting the SS900 to the HC3000 With the HC3000 (in this example), connect a Call Waiting Caller ID (Type II) device, and you will see who s calling before you answer the phone*. If you decide to answer the call, you have approximately 10 seconds to decide if you want to continue the phone call, or hang up and go back to your Internet connection. The HC3000 protects your modem connection from being bumped off the telephone line when the Call Waiting Caller ID information is received. Connect the SS900 as follows: (* Application requires Call Waiting Caller ID from your local phone company.
