1 MARCH 2017 MSI WITH YOU. SEAISI MSI paid a courtesy visit to South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI) on March 2, MSI s CEO and IRL Manager was received by Mr Tan Ah Yong (Secretary General) and Mr Eric Lee (Manager Administration & IT Support). During the visit, both parties exchange view on the Malaysian and ASEAN markets on the Iron & Steel Industries and its organisation set up. MISIF As part of the continuous effort by MSI in engaging with the industry on consolidation effort, MSI and MISIF held an in-depth session of discussion and assessment, with thorough focus on keys questionnaires on the Iron & Steel Consolidation Needs for Malaysia on the 9 March 2017; it was attended by MISIF s President Dato Soh Thian Lai, Deputy President s Dato Lim Hong Thye, Immediate Past President s Mr Chow Chong Long and its CEO s Mr Frankie Wee. MSMDA On 24 March 2017, MSI visited Malaysia Steel and Metal Distributors Association (MSMDA) for their view on Iron & Steel Consolidation needs and MSI was warmly received and shared view were provided. MSMDA was represented by Mr Ooi Hung Hock (President), Mr Bill Lee (Asst Secretary General), Mr Leong Yit Ket (Director of Commerce and Industry Bureau) Ms Rowena Heng(Deputy Director of Commerce and Industry Bureau) and Mr Wong Chee Keong (Asst Treasurer).

2 THE STEEL NOTICE BOARD March MSI BRIDGING GAPS: SPECIALISED BUILDING MATERIALS SUPPLY CHAIN CONFERENCE 2017 Bridging Gaps, Building Opportunities MIDA as the government s principal agency for the promotion of investment in the country will be collaborating with CIDB and supported by MITI, MATRADE, Malaysia Steel Institute (MSI) and Standard Malaysia to organize a Specialised Building Materials Supply Chain Conference This event has been officiated by Y.B. Dato Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) on the 16 March The objectives of this event are as the following:- To provide a platform of business opportunities for local manufacturers of building materials to be part of the mega construction/ other development projects in Malaysia. To narrow the gaps between local building materials manufacturers/ suppliers & professionals services; developers, Project Delivery Partners (PDPs), contractors & the stakeholders in the construction industry. To harmonize and facilitate the integration of local building materials manufacturers and the construction supply chain ecosystem. There are 6 Mega Project Name List from MIDA Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC) Malacca Gateway Port Kedah Integrated Fishery Terminal High Speed Rail (HSR-Kul Spore) Lebuhraya Pan Borneo-Sarawak Forest City This event was attended by over 600 participants inclusive of iron and steel associations such as Malaysia Steel Association, Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF), Malaysia Steel and Metal Distributors' Association (MSMDA) and Building Materials Distributors Association of Malaysia (BMDAM). With this conference, there are many opportunities for our local building material suppliers to participate in mega development projects that are well underway in the country.

3 THE STEEL NOTICE BOARD March MSI TrU: OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH (OSH) FOR IRON & STEEL INDUSTRY OSH2: Industrial Hygiene Training Programme (27-28 March 2017) OSH3: Plant & Machine Safety (28-29 March 2017) On March 2017, MSI organised OSH Industrial Hygiene Training and OSH Plant & Machine Safety Training at Eastin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Both training session by MSI received an encouraging participation by the industry.

4 THE STEEL NOTICE BOARD March SPECIAL PRESS CONFERENCE BY YB MINISTER MITI ON ASEAN@50 AND AEC On 13 march 2017, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has held media briefing to commemorate ASEAN S 5oth Anniversary that has been made at the ASEAN Economic Ministers Retreat in Manila recently. MITI Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said his ministry will mark ASEAN's 50th anniversary with an array of programmes and activities to further boost trade, investment and people to people connectivity. YBM'S SESSION WITH FOREIGN MISSIONS On 14th March 2017, YB Dato Sri Mustapa Mohamed, the Minister of International Trade and Industry Malaysia hosted a networking session with Foreign Heads of Missions based in Malaysia. This session is part of MITI s regular engagements with foreign missions to update on Malaysia s Trade & Investment agenda for the year. This session was attended by approximately 150 Ambassadors, High Commissioners and representatives from the foreign missions, as well as Heads of MITI Agencies and MITI Senior Officials.

5 THE STEEL NOTICE BOARD March ANUGERAH KECEMERLANGAN INDUSTRI 2016 The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) organised the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI) 2016 to recognize outstanding Malaysian companies which have achieved a certain level of excellence in the manufacturing and services sector. AKI 2016 marks the 25th Anniversary of our Industry Excellence journey. FAREWELL MS SABILILLAH SARI It was sad news to hear that Ms Sari shall be leaving MSI at 31 March However, we are happy that she will be leaving for a better opportunity in new company. MSI is grateful for her cooperation, hard work and dedication as an IRL Manager. Best wishes for her new employment and hope to see her future brighten and prosper. PERHIMPUNAN BULANAN MITI & AGENSI On 29 March 2017, MITI and agencies Monthly Assembly took place at SME Corporation Malaysia. Some of the programmes covered such as introducing new staff of MITI and SME Corp and also MoU Signing between SME Corp and JCorp and SME Corp with MPM. This assembly launched by MITI Minister, Dato Sri Mustapa Mohamed and attended by MITI top management and Head of Agencies.
