9 CERT Activation We do not self activate. Each neighborhood has an activation plan Activation methods: Foster City emergency ham frequency of MHz. Foster City TV on channel 27. Foster City radio 1680 on the AM dial. A text message from smcalert.info. An announcement from your Neighborhood Team Leader, who has received an official announcement from a Foster City Fire Department representative, on the assigned FRS/GMRS radio channel for your neighborhood. An official announcement on local commercial television. 6-8

10 CERT Mobilization CERTs take care of themselves, their families, their homes, their neighbors Proceed to predesignated neighborhood assembly area collect intel on the way Division Supervisor is established, organizes the group Division Supervisor prioritizes actions Organization is flexible and evolves based on new information 6-9

22 CERT Members and Leadership In emergencies, every CERT member will encounter situations where they need to lead You may be a leader of your team You may be a Division Supervisor, Branch Director (or part of the Incident Command Team) Are you comfortable being team leader? Do you know how to support your team leader by being an effective team member? 6-21

23 CERT Team Composition Team is a unit of three or more individuals coordinating and cooperating to accomplish specific goals Leaders and team members are all part of same team The team leader and members work together and look out for each other 6-22
