3 Mission The mission of the RRRSWA is to provide environmentally sound and cost effective solid waste and recycling services for residents and businesses of the partner counties.

4 Provide leadership and oversight to establish an integrated solid waste management program for the member counties and region Expand the capability to serve the full spectrum of recycling and solid waste needs Increase awareness and motivation for the proper handling of solid waste and recycling Make our programs convenient and easy Fewer items land filled, more items recycled Provide a model for other counties to follow

10 Patience - It s been in the works since 2001 Feasibility study in 2008, updated in 2011 Extensive changes as the JPA progressed Regulations, rules, and eventually rewards? Confidence and trust in your partners Willingness to compromise, but not too much Work with each other and utilize strengths Share information, staff, experience, ideas Never give up make it work for everyone

11 There are only a handful of publicly owned conjoined recycling and transfer facilities in Minnesota. Our new facility will offer unique services including single stream recycling, secure document destruction, aluminum redemption and a 24 hour accessible recyclables drop off station. This would not have been possible without the joint powers agreement and collaboration between Redwood and Renville Counties. It also would not have been possible if we were content to do only what is required.
