2 The CLIMA-MED project is largely a continuation of the previous projects including CLIMA-SOUTH, SUDEP and CES MED projects with a focus on climate policies and finance as well as on preparing SEACAPs, identifying and prioritizing bankable projects and facilitating their financing and implementation. 4 Overall Objective Enhance energy security and adaptive capacity of partner countries while fostering their transition to low carbon and climate-resilient economy, thereby contributing to more stable, efficient, competitive and climate-resilient socioeconomic contexts. The project objective is in-line and part of the "Energy security and Climate action in the Southern Neighbourhood " programme, which has been adopted by the European Commission in The project duration is 48 months from June 2018 June 2022.

6 Results to be achieved Result 1: Enhanced capacities of ENI South partner countries to implement and regularly update Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), to develop adaptation and mitigation plans (including long-term Low Emission Development Strategies) Increasing their knowledge and implementing abilities in the field of Measurement Reporting and Verification in collaboration with all relevant government bodies as well as in consultation with regional, national and subnational stakeholders.

7 Results to be achieved Result 2: Increased number of local Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plan (SEACAPs), including greenhouse gases inventories and climate vulnerability and risk assessments, developed and implemented in line with the Global Covenant of Mayors principles, leading to concrete actions implemented by local authorities in the Southern Neighbourhood. Result 3: Improved access to finance mechanisms for project beneficiaries leading to more implementation of sustainable actions at national and local level.;

15 Performed Activities in Egypt AGREEMENT TO CONTINUE IN EGYPT WITH the New Urban Communities Agency (NUCA) Previously, the CES-MED project has secured confirmed demand to prepare SEACAPs for (NUCA), to train and help prepare SEACAPs for 32 new cities. Initially the request was for 19 cities (pop. 10 million) that attended our Training of Trainers in December At the end of the training, NUCA has requested an official letter of approval from the focal point to go ahead with the preparation of SEACAPs. Recently, and as a result of close negotiations, the CLIMA MED project team reached an understanding with the focal point in Egypt that this letter will be issued. Currently, the CLIMA Med project team is following up on this matter to secure an official agreement to continue working with NUCA.
