Generally these activities were for the express purpose of delivering the standard functionality of Core DCIM. 4 DCIM Background As these DCIM implementations matured and as operational resources gained confidence with the toolsets, the standard baseline of DCIM was set. Many DCIM implementations initially focused on delivering basic metrics such as PUE and have since evolved to leverage SS 564 reporting and additional enhanced functionality. 4

5 DCIM Background Data centers leveraging DCIM now have insight into both the historical and current state of their data center metrics. However many organizations are actively looking to expand this existing capability and gain next generation insight for their lines of business. 5

That, is we are seeing the desire for a DCIM capability to provide ondemand & relevant insight for a Mobile Workforce. 7

8 Mobile Workforce Changing Workforce, Changing Mindset - Whilst the demographics of the workforce will continue to shift to a Millennial base, we are seeing pervasive adoption and use of mobile technology across all spans of business. This shift is extending across all seniority lines of resourcing, from the executive level C-suite, to business line planners & the Data Center engineers. We are seeing increased domination of mobility technologies in areas such as Data Center Asset tracking, Monitoring, Commercial Reporting & even Data Center Device Control. 8

9 Mobile Workforce Technological Advances - Whilst mobile technology reached critical mass some time ago, the most contemporary generation of mobility devices are almost there in terms of full productivity and relevance. That is, the primary shift for consumption of the DCIM capability and management of the Data Center itself is moving away from a monolithic, operational only silo to an all mobile, access anywhere, anytime approach. This change in mindset is primary based in evolution of Persona & Consumption 9

This level of collaboration and exchange of ideas between the stakeholders is what provides the competitive edge in the data center. The ability for DCIM to furnish each stakeholder with the relevant insight at the right time is the primary value in any DCIM capability. 11

The Executive Owner is deeply involved in long term planning and the macro view of the data center business. In this example the Executive owner may have insight into the Business Service Scorecard of the data center, and require long term projections for reaching existing capacity and recommendations for investment in new data center construction. 15 Persona Based Access IT Manager User Profile The IT Manager is a key consumer of services in the data center. Generally the IT Manager understands Rack based equipment in the Datacenter. The IT Manager will be more interested in physical capacity at the rack level and that mission critical IT systems are hosted on redundant power circuits. The IT Manager will take a great interest in an area based 3D floor plan, generally drilling down into the rack level and leveraging enhanced reporting. Generally the big screen will provide the operational insight and serve as the showcase for Executive walkthroughs. More importantly a DCIM capability is required that allows stakeholders to manage their daily workflows specific to their role or activity. 23

As DCIM core components become largely commoditized we will see a continued evolution into DCSO for more enhanced, value added insight. 26

27 DCIM Evolution The competitive advantage any data center will gain from a DCIM capability will be the ability to consume the relevant information via a mobile centric, business insight point of view. DCIM is fundamentally a capability platform, whilst all involved have a different point of view about what a DCIM platform should deliver, the key driver is still the ability for the individual stakeholder to receive insight relevant to their decision making process. 27
