Vertica Server nodes - HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 servers (4, 8, 12 or 16) At A Glance is a pre-integrated, optimized solution, developed on HP Converged Infrastructure and the HP Vertica Analytics Platform, enabling big data scale analytics at high speed and low cost, with rapid deployment and easier maintenance. This solution is purpose built for the demands of big data workloads i.e. extremely low latency query performance, support for statistical modeling and data analytics, along with the ability to process large volumes of data - including structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data - at scale. It consists of a massively parallel database and an extensible analytics framework optimized for real time analysis of data scaling from gigabytes to petabytes. 2 Overview Management Nodes (PN# H6X78A) - Two DL360p servers are configured as management nodes. They provide the primary interface and integration point to the ConvergedSystem, while performing management and monitoring functions. The node with Red Hat Enterprise Linux runs the HP Cluster Management Utility software and Converged Systems tools for provisioning, monitoring, and management of the appliance. The node with Windows Server 2012 runs HP Insight Control and Insight Remote Support for system management, monitoring, and proactive support. Vertica Server Nodes (PN# H6X75A) - 4, 8, 12 or 16 DL380p servers (with 600GB disk drives & 128GB memory) loaded with Vertica Enterprise Edition v7 are configured as server nodes. Network Switches - Two HP A5900AF-48XGT switches (PN# H6X79A) provide redundant networking with every node connected to both switches. Software HP Insight Cluster Management Utility (CMU) - Insight CMU v7.1 provides is used for provisioning of the systems in the Vertica cluster. The CMU server runs on the management node. CMU is the primary management and monitoring interface for the Vertica cluster. HP Insight Control (IC) - Essential server and firmware management, and updates. Operating System - All Vertica server nodes, and one of the management nodes run Red Hat Enterprise Linux bit. The second management node runs Windows Server HP Vertica Enterprise Edition - The DL380p nodes are pre-installed with HP Vertica Enterprise Edition v7 as a single cluster with the amount of Vertica licenses required by the customer. Services HP Deployment Services are included as part of the ConvergedSystem 300 for Vertica providing factory integration and onsite deployment services. The majority of the configuration is performed in the HP factory to allow for a quicker deployment by delivering a ready-to-deploy solution that is preconfigured and tested. Factory integration includes custom racking, point-to-point cabling, labeling per HP's guideline, OS and application software load and configuration, configuration of IPs/credentials, installation and instantiation of Vertica cluster. Additional features include: Project Management services to oversee factory and customer site-installation activities, including capturing customer specific parameters, proactive communication, planning and scheduling for a coordinated installation at the customer site Installation and start up services Documentation package that details the configuration and settings of the delivered solution, including diagrams of the hardware layout and point-to-point cabling Documentation package that details the configuration and settings of the delivered solution, including diagrams of the hardware layout and point-to-point cabling NOTE: The factory integration services included in this solution require a Customer Intent Document (CID) to assist with the configuration and successful installation and implementation of the solution. The CID Reference ID# is required to be in place prior to sale. Before issuing a purchase order against this solution, please contact your HP sales representative to engage an HP Factory Express Engagement Project Manager (EPM) who will manage the CID process. NOTE: does not include advanced data center Network Integration Services. Some customers that do not have networking expertise internally may require Network Integration Services. 4 How to Order How to order HP The method for purchasing the is simple. It is a solution bundle ConvergedSystem 300 for with all Hardware, Software, and Support components predetermined. Vertica Start by estimating how much raw, uncompressed data needs to be loaded into the Vertica 7 database. From this you can approximate how many nodes you might need for an initial order. The available configurations are in increments of 4 nodes, up to a full rack of 16 nodes. A simple rule of thumb is to allocate about 10TB to a single server node. NOTE: It is recommended that you work with a sizing expert from HP or an HP-authorized partner, in order to determine the number of nodes that will best address your analytics needs for today and allow for future data growth. 2. HP Proactive Care - 3yr or 5yr HP Proactive Care - HP Proactive Care begins with providing all of the benefits of proactive monitoring and reporting along with rapid reactive care. You also receive enhanced reactive support, through access to HP's expert reactive support specialists. You can customize your reactive support level by selecting either 6 hour call-to-repair or 24x7 with 4 hour onsite response. You may also choose DMR (Defective Media Retention) option. HP Proactive Care with the HP Personalized Support Option - Adding the Personalized Support Option for HP Proactive Care is highly recommended.
