IEEE 802.3bt DTE Power via MDI over 4-pair Standard IEEE 802.3af IEEE 802.3at IEEE 802.3bt PoE PoE+ 4-pairs PoE or 4PPoE Type Status Released Released Expected early 2018 Maximum number of energized pairs Maximum DC current per pair 350 ma 600 ma 960 ma 960 ma Maximum power delivered by the Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) 15.4 watt 30.0 Watt 60.0 Watt 99.9 Watt Minimum required power at the Powered Device (PD) Watt 25.5 Watt 51.0 Watt 71.0 Watt 7
IEEE 802.3cg 10Mb/s Single Twisted Pair Ethernet Objectives: Support 10Mb/s operation in automotive & industrial environments over single balanced twisted-pair cabling Support for optional auto-negotiation over single-pair Link Segment: up to 4 connectors for up to at least 15m Define link segment & PHY to support point-to-point operation with 10 inline connectors using balanced cabling (1-pair) for up to at least 1km Two amendments published already 802.3bw-2015: Amendment 1: 100Mb/s over single TP cable 802.3bp-2016: Amendment 4: 1Gb/s over single TP cable 8
IEEE 802.3cg 10Mb/s Single Twisted Pair Ethernet Why is TIA looking at this? Baseline frequency range from 100 khz to 20 MHz may consider additional link segment specifications as this progresses. IEEE P802.3cg Task Force is actively considering proposals for different link segments Benefits offered by generic cabling infrastructure in supporting other applications IEEE supportive of this concept inside buildings 9
Fibre Channel Standardized by International Committee for Information Technology Standards, or INCITS, T11 Technical Committee 10
Fibre Channel FC 32G PI-6 / FC 128G PI-6P completed (bit rate 28.05Gbps) FC 64G per fiber PI-7 & FC 256G PI-7P (bit rate 56.1 Gbps per fiber) Still facing several challenges for 64G FC using PAM-4 using work from IEEE 802.3bs Clause 121 (closely related 50GBASE-SR and 64GFC MM variants) Wideband Multimode Fiber (WBMMF)/OM5 Fibre Channel Looks like this will be a transceiver media option for PI-7 (use two or four wavelengths for 64G/256G variants) Requirements for Link Speed Negotiation for transceiver modules (backwards compatibility to 32G) in development, including transmitter training for FC-PI-7 and new requirements for LSN for SFP & QSFP modules Breakout use cases will not be documented in std. (but could be implemented by vendors) Possibility of draft publication by June
