4 Our initiative Launched in December 2008 Cooperation to foster regional European coordination for system security Decentralised approach (grid security and approval of remedial actions) TSOs remain responsible for system security incl. operational planning TSC's TSOs cover 10 European countries with about 185 million inhabitants and 1.13 million square kilometres. 19 Intra Day Congestion Forecast (IDCF) Need: Increase of uncertainties, esp. renewables, new devices (PST, HVDC), Intraday Market Objectives Continuous & automatic update of forecast data and security analysis results for coming hours Detect any potential issue on the grid: anticipation Provide information to the TSOs so that they can implement remedial actions on time Ask for power plants to start Cancellation of outage Cross-border remedial actions, redispatching... 19

20 Improved/additional services As from 1 July 2013, 24/7 rolling forecast process in trial run CTDS Users check and assess the quality of results (model contains remedial actions etc.) CTDS Operation for IDCF rolling forecast performed fully automatically Conference calls to discuss the results of IDCF contingency assessment on demand Parallel operation of DACF and IDCF Rolling Forecast Process 20
