5 Overview of Oracle Enterprise Manager What is the vcenter Operations Management Pack for Oracle Enterprise Manager? The Management Pack takes in metrics about Targets (managed objects like databases, listeners, servers, data stores, etc.) along with Oracle performance data, availability data, configuration data, and relationship data. The Blue Medora Management Pack can then take advantage of the advanced event correlation and predictive analytic capabilities that make vcenter Operations the most powerful tool for helping IT Admins to maintain the health of, reduce risk of issues occurring in, and to optimize, the IT environment. Why deploy vcenter Operations for Oracle Enterprise Manager? vcenter Operations Manager provides the following benefits when used in conjunction with Oracle Enterprise Manager: 1. Unified Management of Oracle Workloads Running on VMware: provides a tool that both Oracle admins and VMware admins can jointly use to understand the relationships, availability, performance, and bottlenecks within your converged Oracle and VMware environment. 2. Intelligent Operations: ability to proactively avoid performance issues and gain deep insights into the health, risk, and efficiency of Oracle running on VMware. 3. vcenter Operations Native Capacity Planning and Predictive Analytics: forecasts critical Oracle related outages well before they occur. For each configured OEM Target (i.e. a Database, an Operating System, a WebLogic J2EE instance, etc), OEM collects and storeshundreds of near-real-time health, performance, availability, and configuration metrics. These are the same metrics that are used within OEM to visualize Oracle environments and generate alerts on issues. The Blue Medora vc Ops Management Pack for OEM makes all these essential Oraclerelated metrics available within vcenter Operations Manager. It allows the use of vcenter Operations Manager s capabilities to identify performance issues and gain deep insights into the health, risk and efficiency of your virtual and physical Oracle workloads (the underlying operating systems and in particular related VMware infrastructure, if applicable). The Blue Medora Management Pack for OEM helps customers recognize and address symptoms that threaten performance and availability, before the symptoms become issues that impact business users and the business itself.
