Document Objective The objective of this document is to provide a step by step overview of the Selective deletion process from a DSO (Data Store Object). Every step has an associated screenshot for better understanding of the topic. Document Detail Data Store Objects (DSO) An Overview A DataStore object (DSO) serves as a storage location for consolidated and cleansed transaction data or master data on a document (atomic) level. This data can be evaluated using a BEx query. A DataStore object contains key fields (such as document number, document item) and data fields that, in addition to key figures, can also contain character fields (such as order status, customer). The data from a DataStore object can be updated with a delta update into InfoCubes (standard) and/or other DataStore objects or master data tables (attributes or texts) in the same system or across different systems. Unlike multidimensional data storage using InfoCubes, the data in DataStore objects is stored in transparent, flat database tables. The system does not create fact tables or dimension tables. Selective Deletion Process Selective deletion from DSO refers to deleting specific values from a DSO leaving the other values unaffected. These values are deleted based on specific variables like Calendar Date, Account No. etc. An Illustrated Example In the example taken in this document, all values associated with Product Code P00001 on the Calendar date value are to be deleted from the DSO. The DSO we will be using has the technical name DSO_SHY and the description as my DSO SAP AG 3
The following is a screenshot that shows the fields in the DSO along with their associated values. Now, for selective deletion, go to the DSO and select Manage after right-clicking the DSO SAP AG 4
You will get the following screen. Go to the contents Tab. The screenshot of the Contents tab is given below. Before deleting, let us check out the number of records in the DSO pertaining to the Date and Product code values. For that, Click on Active Data 2011 SAP AG 5
Input the values on the fields pertaining to which you want to do the selective deletion operation to be performed. In this example, as mentioned before, it will be done based on Product Code P00001 and Calendar Day Press Number of Entries button after doing this. The number of entries will be shown as in the screenshot below SAP AG 6
Now, press the back button to go back to the contents tab Coming back to the selective deletion process, press the Selective button in the contents tab. You will get the following window. Press Deletion Selections to select values on the fields pertaining to which you want to do the selective deletion operation to be performed 2011 SAP AG 7
You will get the following screen. Input the values in the aforementioned fields and press execute. This will take you back to the original window. But this time the Deletion Selections Button will have Green tick sign before it. This shows that the selection process is complete. Now we need to schedule the deletion, Press the Selection button to do this. You will get the following window. In this example we will schedule it immediately. Else, you can also give the time when the deletion should happen. Press the radio button for Immediate Start 2011 SAP AG 8
After selecting Immidiate Start, you will be directed back to the same window we saw before but this time with a green tick which on the Selection button, which as we saw before in the previous case, shows that the Job Scheduling is done. Now to start the deletion process press the Start button. You will get the following screen press Yes to confirm the deletion. The Start button will remain grayed out as long as the deletion is being carried out in the background. This time depends on the number of data records being deleted SAP AG 9
Keep pressing the Refresh button repeatedly until the Start Button becomes active again. This confirms that the job is finished as shown below. Now to verify that the data has been deleted, go back to the Contents tab in the DSO manage option 2011 SAP AG 10
Here, Press the Active data button to get the following familiar window we saw earlier. Input the values which we used earlier. Now, Press the Number of Entries button. The following window verifies that all the Selective Deletion Process was successful and the targetted records have been deleted. In short, a job well done SAP AG 11
