11 Chapter 1. ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports is the reporting package for ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications. You can use ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports to create historical reports based on the data that is collected by the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications. ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications is part of the ITCAM for Applications bundle. ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports Architecture Overview ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports is deployed in a Tivoli Monitoring environment. Tivoli Monitoring includes Tivoli Common Reporting and Tivoli Data Warehouse. ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports is installed on Tivoli Common Reporting. The user interface for Tivoli Common Reporting is Tivoli Integrated Portal. You create and view reports in the Tivoli Integrated Portal. The Tivoli Data Warehouse is the data source for ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports. When you enable historical data collection for ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications, collected data is stored in Tivoli Data Warehouse. 13 Chapter 2. Prerequisites and preinstallation tasks for ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports Verify that your computer meets the system and software prerequisites. System and Software Prerequisites The following software prerequisites are required before you install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports: v v v v v Tivoli Monitoring fix pack 3 or higher: IBM Tivoli Monitoring Information Center Tivoli Common Reporting or version 3.1: Tivoli Common Reporting Information Center ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications 7.1 Fix Pack 2, interim fix 3, or higher: ITCAM for Applications Information Center Tivoli Data Warehouse (including Summarization and Pruning agent [SnP]): IBM Tivoli Monitoring information center You must have Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5 or higher installed on the systems where you are plan to run the reports installer. For more information about software prerequisites, see WebSphere Applications agent V7.2 See the Software product compatibility reports website to generate a variety of reports related to product and component requirements. Note: ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports is a component of ITCAM for Applications version 7.2. To run a report specific to ITCAM for Application version 7.2, specify Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Applications as the product name and 7.2 as the version. 14 Configuring database client connections The data store for Tivoli Common Reporting is Tivoli Data Warehouse. Tivoli Data Warehouse can use a DB2, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server database as a data store. Tivoli Common Reporting uses ODBC to connect to the database. Follow Tivoli Monitoring guidelines for creating and configuring the Tivoli Data Warehouse. If Tivoli Common Reporting and the Tivoli Data Warehouse database are on different servers, you must complete four steps to configure database settings on Tivoli Common Reporting: 1. Install a database client on Tivoli Common Reporting. Attention: Tivoli Common Reporting is a 32-bit application. You must use a 32-bit version of database client. 2. Connect the database client on the Tivoli Common Reporting host to the database server. Depending on your client type and your Tivoli Common Reporting platform, you might have to update environment variables (for example, PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH). If you created or updated environment variables, you must restart the Tivoli Common Reporting server to apply the changes. 3. If you are doing a manual installation, create a data source connection in Tivoli Common Reporting. During the installation, a data source is created to communicate with Tivoli Data Warehouse. Depending on your database, complete the following steps to configure the database settings: v Microsoft SQL Server: Configuring a Microsoft SQL Server database v Oracle: Configuring an Oracle database v DB2: Configuring a DB2 database on page 7 Configuring a Microsoft SQL Server database Procedure 1. Install the Microsoft SQL Server database client on the Tivoli Common Reporting system where you will install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports. You might use a System DSN connection to create a data source on Windows systems. Important: On 64-bit system, you must configure System DSN using the 32-bit version of the Windows ODBC utility. To use the 32-bit version, run Odbcad32.exe in system_drive\windows\syswow To connect the Microsoft SQL Server client to the database server, run the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express. Configure the local net service name configuration. Configuring an Oracle database Procedure 1. Install the Oracle instant client on the Tivoli Common Reporting computer where you plan to install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports. 6 ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports Installation and User Guide:

15 Remember: Use the 32-bit version of instant client. 2. To connect the Oracle instant client to the database server, run the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant. Configure the local net service name configuration. If Net Configuration Assistant is not available, follow the instructions on the Oracle website for creating a connection for your database version 3. Copy tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files from the Oracle server machine to the Oracle database client installation directory on the Tivoli Common Reporting computer. 4. Add the path to the Oracle instant client to the system PATH variable. 5. Create and export the TNS_ADMIN environmental variable. Set TNS_ADMIN to the Oracle tnsnames.ora file location. 6. Restart the Tivoli Common Reporting. Configuring a DB2 database Procedure 1. Install the DB2 database client on the Tivoli Common Reporting computer where you will install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports. The DB2 client must be the same version as the DB2 server database that Tivoli Common Reporting is using. 2. Connect the DB2 database client to the DB2 database server. Configure the local net service name configuration. For more details, see Connecting to a DB2 database Connecting to a DB2 database Procedure Run the following DB2 commands: db2 catalog tcpip node host remote host.domain.com server db2 catalog database WAREHOUS as db_alias at node host authentication server where host is the short host name of the computer where the DB2 database is located. WAREHOUS is your Tivoli Data Warehouse database name. db_alias can be any name of your choice. For example: db2 => catalog tcpip node dbserver remote dbserver.domain.com server db2 => catalog database WAREHOUS as WAREHOU1 at node dbserver authentication server Enabling historical data collection Before you install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports, enable historical data collection and configure summarization and pruning on the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications. For more information, see the IBM Tivoli Monitoring information center. Ensure that raw (un-summarized/detailed) and summary tables for the following attribute groups are created: v Application_Server v Application_Server_Status v Application_Health_Status Chapter 2. 16 v v v v v v v DB_Connection_Pools Enterprise_Java_Beans Garbage_Collection_Analysis Request_Analysis Servlets_JSPs Thread_Pools Web_Applications Modifying the time period that is used to populate TIME_DIMENSION table The installation program creates the Tivoli Reporting and Analytics Model (TRAM) tables when you install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports. About this task When you install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports, the following tables are created with schema IBM_TRAM in Tivoli Data Warehouse: v ComputerSystem v MONTH_LOOKUP v TIMEZONE_DIMENSION v WEEKDAY_LOOKUP v TIME_DIMENSION To specify the time period for reports, you run a script to populate the TIME_DIMESION table. You can specify the period of time and the interval of time for your reports. By default, the TIME_DIMENSION table is populated with data for 5 years, 2011 through 2015 in 1 hour intervals. Note: Only complete the following steps if you want to change the default seeding of the TIME_DIMENSION table. Procedure 1. Open one of the following script in a text editor: DB2: call_proc_db2.sql Microsoft SQL Server: call_proc_mssql.sql Oracle: call_proc_oracle.sql The scripts are located in the ITCAM_for_AD_Report_Installer_HOME\reports\ cognos_reports\itcam_ad_cognos_report\db_scripts directory. The script has three parameters: start_date, end_date, and data frequency. 2. Modify the following line in the script call IBM_TRAM.CREATE_TIME_DIMENSION(' ',' ',60) where start_date use the following format: YYYY-MM-DD-HH.MM.SS end_date use the following format YYYY-MM-DD-HH.MM.SS 8 ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports Installation and User Guide:

17 data frequency enter a numeric value to indicate the data frequency in minutes Note: If you want to display yearly data in reports, adjust the time period in the TIME_DIMENSION table so it begins one granular interval before the start date you require in your reports. For example, if you want your reporting period to start from 12:00 AM January with one hour of granularity, specify the start date as: Editing the Oracle scripts (Oracle only) This task applies only to implementations where Oracle is used. About this task When you install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports, the TRAM tables are created in Tivoli Data Warehouse. For an Oracle implementation, before you install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports you must amend the create_table_oracle.sql, create_view_oracle.sql, and create_table_indexes_oracle.sql to includes system user credentials. Procedure 1. Open the create_table_oracle.sql file that is located in the ITCAM_for_AD_Report_Installer_HOME\reports\cognos_reports\ itcam_ad_cognos_report\db_scripts directory. 2. Change the parameter values used by the script to match your environment settings: Table 1. Parameters for the create_table_oracle.sql Parameter Description Default Value Change To: DEFAULT_TBSPC Defines default tablespace for IBM_TRAM USERS Replace with the default users tablespace name. TEMPORARY_TBSPCDefines temporary tablespace for IBM_TRAM TEMP Replace with the temporary tablespace name. ITM_USER Defines Tivoli Data Warehouse user ID ITMUSER Replaced with an actual TDW user ID. TCR_PASS Defines IBM_TRAM user password password Replace with password for an 'IBM_TRAM' user. 3. Open the create_view_oracle.sql and create_table_indexes_oracle.sql files located in the same directory and replace all occurrences of ITMUSER schema with the actual TDW user ID. Chapter 2. 19 Chapter 3. Installing ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports You can install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports using the Tivoli Report Installer, or you can perform a manual installation. Tivoli Report Installer can be run in GUI or silent mode. You can also install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports in console mode. Determining whether to use the Tivoli Report Installer or a manual installation When you use the Tivoli Report Installer to install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports, all data in the TRAM tables is overwritten. If a reporting package for another agent or ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports was previously installed, all data associated with these agents in the TRAM tables is overwritten. If you had customized the TRAM tables, the customization is also overwritten. To avoid overwriting the data in the TRAM tables, use the manual installation steps, see Manually Installing ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports on page 20 Installing ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports using the console mode You can install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports from a command line. You can use this method if an X window server is not available during the installation on a Linux or UNIX system. Procedure 1. Open a command prompt and run the following command: Windows: setup_windows.exe -i console AIX: setup_aix.bin -i console Linux:setup_linux.bin -i console HP setup_hpux.bin -i console: Solaris: setup_solaris.bin -i console 2. The following message is displayed: Choose Locale GERMAN 2- English 3- SPANISH 4- FRENCH 5- ITALIAN 7- PORGUGUESE_BRAZIL Enter the number that corresponds to your installation language. 3. The following message is displayed: Preparing CONSOLE Mode Installation... =============================================================================== Welcome Copyright IBM Corp

20 InstallAnywhere will guide you through the installation of IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager Agent for WebSphere Applications. It is strongly recommended that you quit all programs before continuing with this installation. Press Enter to proceed to the next window. If you must change anything in the previous window, type "back" and press Enter. You may quit this installation at any time by typing "quit" and pressing Enter. PRESS <ENTER> TO CONTINUE Press Enter 4. The following message is displayed: Choose the Installation Folder The installation folder specifies the path to the Tivoli Common Reporting component directory. You do not need to provide the installation path for the reports, as they are installed into Tivoli Common Reporting directory. Note for Tivoli Common Reporting 2.1 and releases: In case of a distributed Tivoli Common Reporting installation, ensure that the folder you select contains the Cognos engine. Default Install Folder: C:\Program Files\IBM\JazzSM\reporting ENTER AN ABSOLUTE PATH, OR PRESS <ENTER> TO ACCEPT THE DEFAULT Specify the location of the Tivoli Common Reporting installation directory or press Enter if Tivoli Common Reporting is installed in the default location. 5. The following message is displayed: 1-Cognos Reports 2-After selecting the report sets, choose this option to continue the installation Choose the report type: Enter The following message is displayed: 1- ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports 2- Choose this option to select or deselect all the above report sets Choose the report sets for the installation or press Enter to continue: Enter 1 to indicate that you want to install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports. 7. The Cognos Engine Configuration steps are next. a. The following message is displayed: Enter the Tivoli Common Reporting user name b. The following message is displayed: Enter the Tivoli Common Reporting user password 8. The Cognos Data Source Tivoli Data Warehouse Configuration steps are next. a. The following message is displayed: Do you want to configure the TDW datasource? (if not, this configuration will be skipped) (Y/N): Enter y for yes. b. 21 Enter the database user name (DEFAULT: itmuser): Specify the Tivoli Data Warehouse user name. c. The following message is displayed: Enter the user password: Specify the password for the user name that you used to connect to the Tivoli Data Warehouse data source. d. The installation program displays: 1- DB2 2- ORACLE 3- MSSQL Choose the database type: Enter the number that represents your Tivoli Data Warehouse database type. e. The installation program displays: Enter the database name (DEFAULT: IBMDB): Enter the name of the database that you used to create a connection to the Tivoli Data Warehouse database server. For a Microsoft SQL Server database, you can use the DSN name if you use a System DSN connection. For a DB2 database, you can use the database alias that you used to catalog the database. For an Oracle database, you must use the name that is specified in the tnsnames.ora file. 9. The Data Script Configuration step is next. The installation program displays: Do you want to run the WebSphere_Agent_DB_Scripts database script? (Y/N): Enter y for yes. Important: In the next steps, you create a JDBC connection to the Tivoli Data Warehouse databases and execute SQL scripts that create an IBM_TRAM schema and populate tables under the schema. You must specify a user name that has the authority to create schema in Tivoli Data Warehouse. 10. The Data Script WebSphere_Agent_DB_Scripts Configuration steps are next. a. The following message is displayed: Enter the database user name (DEFAULT: itmuser): Enter a user name that has the authority to create the schema. For an Oracle database, use sys as sysdba. b. The following message is displayed: Enter Password for the user you have entered in the step above. c. The following message is displayed: Data Script WebSphere_Agent_DBScripts Configuration 1- DB2 2 -ORACLE 3- MSSQL Choose the databse type: Enter the number that corresponds to your Tivoli Data Warehouse type. d. The following message is displayed: Enter the database JDBC URL in the following format jdbc:sqlserver://<host>:<port>;databasename=<database> (DEFAULT: ): Chapter 3. 22 Specific the URL for the JDBC connection. For example: DB2: jdbc:db2://<host>[:<port>]/<database_name> Oracle: MSSQL: jdbc:sqlserver://<host>[:<port>];databasename=<database> e. The following message is displayed: Provide the JDBC driver files separated by the semicolon (DEFAULT: ): Provide the appropriate drivers to create the JDBC connection. Tip: Make sure to use a driver that is compatible with the level of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) of the installer. For example, use the se sqljdbc4.jar MS SQL driver if you use Java 1.6 and above when you run the installer. Usesqljdbc.jar if you use Java 1.5 when you run the installer. f. The following message is displayed: Enter the JDBC driver class (DEFAULT: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.sqlserverdriver): In most cases, you can accept the default value. If default value is not correct, enter the JDBC driver class path. 11. The following summary message is displayed: The following report sets will be installed: [Cognos reports] ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports The following database scripts will be run: WebSphere_Agent_DB_Scripts PRESS <ENTER> TO CONTINUE Press Enter to complete the installation. 12. The following message is displayed: The installation results SUCCESS The database scripts: WebSphere_Agen_DB_Scrips SUCCESS Install the reports: ITCAM Aent for WebSphere applications Reports SUCCESS Create Cognos data source:tdw Press Enter. Silent Installation of ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports Instead of doing a GUI installation or using the interactive command mode, you can use a command that points to a response file to install and configure ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports. Procedure 1. Before you run a silent installation, create the silent installation response file. Manually Installing ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports If there are already reporting packages installed on Tivoli Common Reporting, you have to manually install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports to avoid overwriting data in the TRAM tables. Creating Indexes When you install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports, indexes are created in Tivoli Data Warehouse on historical tables. You might need to recreate indexes, for example, if historical data collection is not enabled when you install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports. To create or recreate indexes, use the create_table_indexes_db_type.sql script. The script is available in the ITCAM_for_AD_Report_Installer_Home\reports\cognos_reports\ itcam_ad_cognos_report\db_scripts directory. Predefined reports are available when you install ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports. For information about running predefined reports, see Running predefined reports on page 32. The following predefined reports are available: Application Request Performance Description This report analyzes how applications perform at an aggregated level across an application server. The pie-chart shows the aggregate level requests for applications. The bar chart shows the average response time for applications at an aggregate level. The two time series line charts show the average response time and total request count trend for all of the applications. ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications Reports contains the Cognos data model for ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications. Use the Cognos data model to create on-demand and customized reports. Query Studio You can create on-demand reports based on the following categories: v Application v JVM v Portal Server v Process Server v Resources v Thread Pools v WebSphere v WebSphere -XS/XD Each category contains a number of reports, which can be viewed for different time periods, for example, hourly, daily, or weekly. Report Studio Use Report Studio to create customized reports. Report Studio is a web-based report editor. To create a custom report, select Report Studio under the Launch menu.
