C H A P T E R 1 Version This chapter includes the following topics: New Features and Enhancements, 1 Behavior Changes, 4 Parameter and Option Changes, 5 Changes to Supported Replication Sources and Targets, 12 Documentation Changes, 13 New Features and Enhancements Informatica Data Replication includes the following new features and enhancements: Server Manager Command Line Interface Informatica Data Replication now provides a Server Manager Command Line Interface (CLI). Use the Server Manager CLI to manage, run, and monitor replication tasks and schedules that run under a Server Manager Main server in Network mode in a distributed Data Replication environment. With the CLI, you enter commands from command prompts and windows or other text-based consoles such as shells. Use the Server Manager CLI to perform the following tasks: Run replication jobs in a distributed replication topology from a system that does not have a graphical environment. Integrate replication jobs that run in a distributed replication topology with third-party applications by using scripting. You can use the Server Manager CLI in interactive or non-interactive mode. You must issue the connect command to connect to a Server Manager Main server and establish a Server Manager session before issuing other commands. For more information, see Informatica Data Replication Command Line Interface for the Server Manager. Replacing Schema Names During Remote Deployment of Configurations You can now deploy a replication configuration from a test environment to a remote production environment that uses schema names other than schema names in the test environment. 1

The first time you deploy a replication configuration to a remote Server Manager Main server, you can replace the source and target schema names that are used in the test environment with the schema names that are used in the production environment. You can define the schema replacement pairs in the Data Replication Console. Note: If you replace schema names during initial deployment of a configuration, you will not be able to deploy changes for this configuration from the test environment to the production environment later. Specifying a Start SCN Value for the Extractor Task You can now specify a Start SCN value in a configuration to override the default point in the transaction logs from which the Extractor starts reading changes when you run the Extractor task for the first time. You might need to perform this task under the following circumstances: To reprocess the transaction logs that the Extractor processed earlier for debug purposes. To skip the transaction logs that do not include changes for the mapped source tables. To read the transaction logs from a point that is earlier than the default Start SCN. For example, if you created a replication configuration after you synchronized targets with Fast Clone, you can configure the Extractor to read changes that occurred after target synchronization and before you created the configuration in the Data Replication Console. If you set the extract.process_old_logs runtime parameter to 1, the Extractor ignores the Start SCN value and processes all available transaction logs. Support for Teradata 14.0 Targets Data Replication now supports Teradata 14.0 targets. Teradata 14.0 introduces the NUMBER datatype. If you have Teradata target tables that include NUMBER columns, you can map these columns to NUMBER columns in Oracle source tables for data replication. To connect to Teradata 14.0 targets from the Data Replication Console, download the JDBC driver for Teradata 14.0 from the Teradata web site. The JDBC driver includes the following files: terajdbc4.jar tdgssconfig.jar Copy these files to the DataReplication_installation/lib subdirectory. Support for Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition Sources Data Replication now supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008, and 2008 R2 Standard Edition as a replication source. To extract change data from a Standard Edition source, enable Replicate mode for the replicated tables manually from the Data Replication Console before you create a replication configuration. 2 Chapter 1: Version 9.5.1

Extended Support for Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) Targets Data Replication now supports multiple versions of HDFS targets. In addition to the previously supported version of Apache Hadoop 1.0.x, Data Replication now supports the following HDFS versions: Apache Hadoop x, x, x, 0.23.x, 1.1.x, and 2.x.x. CDH3 and CDH4. To replicate change data to HDFS, you must complete several tasks to prepare the systems where the Applier and Data Replication Console run. Setting the Sync SCN Value for Multiple Tables From the Data Replication Console, you can now set a specific Sync SCN value for multiple target tables at one time to quickly configure Applier processing. On the Map Tables tab, click the Configure Start Point button. In the Configure Start Point dialog box, under Applier start point, select one or more target tables for which to set Sync SCN values or enter filter criteria. To set the Sync SCN value, right-click the selected tables and click Edit SCN. Improved Applier Processing of Intermediate Files Beginning with Data Replication 9.5.1, the Applier does not re-read intermediate files to process long-running transactions or to apply change data to some types of target tables. Prior to Data Replication 9.5.1, the Applier re-read intermediate files when running in batch or continuous mode in the following cases: After encountering a commit for a long-running transaction, the Applier read the intermediate files again to process all of the operations that belonged to the committed transaction. For target data warehouse appliances, if the Applier was unable to load all tables concurrently to the target in one cycle because of a limited number of the Applier threads, the Applier read the intermediate files multiple times during the cycle. For more information, see Informatica Data Replication User Guide. Enhanced SQL Expression Editor The Data Replication Console includes an enhanced editor for creating SQL expressions. In the Insert an SQL Expression dialog box, you can use the data access operators in the Columns list box and the SQL comparison operator buttons in lower right corner to quickly define a SQL expression. For more information, see the Informatica Data Replication Scripting Guide or Information Data Replication User Guide. Improved Wildcard Mapping On the Map Tables tab of the Data Replication Console, you can now use wildcard expressions to map source tables and columns to target tables and columns. The wildcard expressions can include one or more asterisk (*) wildcard characters, each representing zero or more characters anywhere in the table or column names. New Features and Enhancements 3

Use wildcard expressions to define sets of source and target tables or columns to map. The Data Replication Console matches the substrings in the source and target table or column names that are represented by the asterisk (*) wildcard characters in the wildcard expression and maps the tables or columns with matching substrings. You can use wildcard expressions to define SQL Apply, Audit Apply, and Merge Apply mappings. Memory Statistics for the Applier Task For a running Applier task, you can now view the following memory statistics from the Data Replication Console: Current memory usage by the Applier process. Memory that is allocated to the initialized Applier process before an apply cycle starts. Memory usage difference. Data Replication calculates the difference between the current memory usage and the memory allocated to the initialized Applier process. Memory usage by Applier internal objects. For each Applier object, Data Replication reports memory usage in bytes and as a percentage of the memory usage difference that is reported for the entire Applier process. The amount of data and number of records that each Applier thread has in a change data queue. To view memory statistics for a running Applier task, click the Print Memory Statistics button in the Applier log window. Enhanced Replication Configuration Command Line Interface Data Replication introduces enhancements to the Replication Configuration Command Line Interface (CLI). You can now perform the following actions from the Replication Configuration CLI: Use a regular expression in the input XML file to quickly define schema, table, and column mappings. Specify a password in the input XML file instead of at the Replication Configuration CLI prompt. Update a replication configuration. When you update a configuration, the Replication Configuration CLI retrieves metadata from the source and target databases and updates the source and target schema and object IDs in the configuration. Behavior Changes Informatica Data Replication introduces some changes in the behavior of replication executables and the Data Replication Console. Default Applier Thread Distribution for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase ASE Targets By default, for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase ASE targets, Data Replication now distributes changes across Applier threads by tables rather than by rows. This default distribution helps avoid lock contention among the Applier threads. 4 Chapter 1: Version 9.5.1

If you change the distribution type on the Map Columns tab, perform one of the following tuning actions to minimize lock contention among Applier threads: For Microsoft SQL Server targets, disable lock escalation and create a clustered index or primary key for the mapped target tables. For Sybase ASE targets, set the datarows locking scheme for the mapped target tables. Default Start SCN Value for the Microsoft SQL Server Extractor Prior to Informatica Data Replication 9.5.1, the Extractor processed all available logs for Microsoft SQL Server sources. Starting with Informatica Data Replication 9.5.1, the Data Replication Console retrieves the current LSN when you select a SQL Server source database on the Map Tables tab. The Console writes this LSN to the configuration. When you run the Extractor with the configuration for the first time, the Extractor begins reading the transaction log from the LSN value in the configuration, by default. You can override the default Start SCN value for the Extractor from the Data Replication Console. Enabling Replicate Mode for Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Edition Prior to Data Replication 9.5.1, the Data Replication Console enabled Replicate mode on Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Edition source databases when you saved the configuration. Starting with Data Replication 9.5.1, if a source database does not contain any table for which Replicate mode is enabled, the Data Replication Console enables Replicate mode on this database when you select the database on the Map Tables tab. The Data Replication Console creates an auxiliary table in the database and enables Replicate mode for this table. When you save the configuration later, the Data Replication Console drops the auxiliary table and enables Replicate mode for the mapped source tables. This behavior ensures that the Extractor can read transaction logs from the default Start SCN value. The default name of the auxiliary table is IDR_DUMMY_1. To use another name for the auxiliary table, edit the mssql_auxiliary_table_name_1 parameter in the DataReplication_installation/uiconf/ default.cfg file. Parameter and Option Changes Informatica Data Replication introduces changes to the following parameters and options: Advanced runtime parameters that you configure on the Runtime Settings tab > Advanced Settings view in the Data Replication Console. Advanced Server Manager properties that you configure on the Advanced Settings tab of the Properties window in the Data Replication Console. A start parameter that you enter with server_manager.sh at a command line on Linux or UNIX. Parameter and Option Changes 5

Advanced Runtime Parameters The following table describes changes to advanced runtime parameters in Data Replication 9.5.1: Advanced Runtime Parameter New, Changed, or Deprecated Description apply.buffer_size_for_split_records New Specifies the maximum size of the buffer, in bytes, that the Applier uses to store data for a long-running transaction or for a table that is queued for apply processing in Merge Apply mode. When this buffer size limit is exceeded, the Applier flushes data from the buffer to a temporary spill file and then writes any additional change data to the spill file. The Applier creates a buffer for each long-running transaction or for each table that is queued for apply processing in Merge Apply mode. Default value: bytes apply.db2.create_lob_nologging New For configurations that have DB2 targets and any source other than DB2, determines the length of DB2 LOB columns that Data Replication creates when replicating CREATE TABLE and ADD COLUMN operations or when generating target tables based on source tables. The length determines whether logging can be enabled for these columns. Valid values are: - 0. Create LOB columns of 1 GB in length with the default LOGGED option. The LOGGED option enables logging Create LOB columns of 2 GB in length with the NOT LOGGED option. The NOT LOGGED option disables logging. Note: DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows does not support logging for LOB columns that are larger than 1 GB. Default value: 0 6 Chapter 1: Version 9.5.1

Advanced Runtime Parameter New, Changed, or Deprecated Description apply.force_log_table_suffix_for_audit New For configurations that include multiple targets, indicates whether the Applier alters the SQL apply statements for secondary targets that use Audit Apply mode to append the audit log suffix to the table names on those targets. The audit log suffix is specified in the Log table suffix for merge apply field on the Runtime Settings tab > Calculated Columns view and usually used for Merge Apply. Options are: - 0. Do not append the audit log suffix to the table names on the secondary targets that use Audit Apply mode. With this option, the names of the audit log tables on the secondary targets match the names of the regular target tables on the primary target. This option is typically used for configurations that replicate data from one primary target to multiple secondary targets in different databases Append the audit log suffix to the table names on the secondary targets that use Audit Apply mode. With this option, the audit log table names on the secondary targets are composed of the primary target table names followed by the audit log suffix. This option is used in special situations where you need to use the audit log suffix to distinguish the audit log tables on secondary targets that use Audit Apply mode. Important: You can use Audit Apply mode for a secondary target to add audit log tables in the primary target database that use the same schema as the regular target tables in the same database. In this case, if you use Merge Apply mode for the primary target, the audit log tables for Merge Apply mode must have a different schema. Specify a schema that includes audit log tables for Merge Apply mode in the Log table schema for merge apply field on the Runtime Settings tab > Calculated Columns view. Default value: 0 apply.min_spill_transaction_size New When you use the Applier with the EXTERNALFEED target type to make data available through the External API, specifies the maximum size of the buffer, in bytes, that the Applier uses to store data for a single transaction. When this buffer size limit is exceeded, the Applier flushes data from the buffer to a temporary spill file and then writes any additional change data to this spill file. The Applier creates a buffer for each transaction on the source. Default value: bytes apply.performance_degradation_ warning_threshold New Specifies the minimum average SQL statement processing time, in milliseconds, over an apply cycle for which Data Replication logs a performance degradation warning. Default value: 5 milliseconds Parameter and Option Changes 7

Advanced Runtime Parameter apply.verbose_process_long_running _txns New, Changed, or Deprecated New Description Indicates whether the Applier logs messages that are related to processing memory buffers and temporary spill files for change data that belongs to long-running open transactions. Valid values are: - 0. Do not include the messages that are related to processing memory buffers and temporary spill files for longrunning transactions in the Applier output Include the messages that are related to processing memory buffers and temporary spill files for long-running transactions in the Applier output. Default value: 1 apply.verbose_process_queued_tables New Indicates whether the Applier logs messages that are related to processing memory buffers and temporary spill files for queued source tables. The Applier cannot apply change data from these tables during the current apply cycle because of target loader limitations. Valid values are: - 0. Do not include the messages that are related to processing memory buffers and temporary spill files for queued tables in the Applier output Include the messages that are related to processing memory buffers and temporary spill files for queued tables in the Applier output. Default value: 0 extract.db2.readlog_input_endian_fix New If the Extractor task extracts data from a remote DB2 database server that has an architecture with a different endianness than the Extractor system, indicates whether to convert the endianness for Extractor requests to the source database. Options are: Data Replication determines whether to convert the endianness based on the architectures that it detects for the Extractor system and the remote DB2 source system. - If the systems have architectures with the same endianness, Data Replication does not convert the endianness. - If the systems have architectures with different endianness, Data Replication converts the endianness. Note: Data Replication uses the Source platform field on the Extract Range tab to determine the endianness of the source server architecture. If you did not specify a source platform on the Extract Range tab, Data Replication assumes that the Extractor runs on the source database server and does not convert the endianness Do not convert the endianness. The Extractor might process the Sync LSN value incorrectly and end with an error Convert the endianness. Default value is -1. Change this value only at the request of Informatica Global Customer Support. 8 Chapter 1: Version 9.5.1

Advanced Runtime Parameter extract.mssql.updates_as_updates_ lookup_size New, Changed, or Deprecated New Description If you use the default value of 1 for the extract.mssql.process_updates_as_updates parameter, this parameter specifies the number of transaction log records that the Extractor reads after encountering a Delete record to find the matching Insert record for an Update. Microsoft SQL Server generates a pair of Delete and Insert records for each Update. If the Extractor finds the matching Insert record, it merges the Delete and Insert records into a single Update. If the Extractor does not find the matching Insert, it handles the Delete as a Delete. Valid values: 1-3 Default value: 1 global.print_runtime_settings New Indicates whether the InitialSync, Extractor, and Applier tasks log a list of the runtime parameters for which you specified a non-default value to the execution logs each time the tasks start. Options are: - 0. Do not log the list of parameters with non-default values Log the list of parameters with non-default values. Default value: 1 initial.oracle.parallel_sample_ percentage Changed For Oracle sources, specifies the percentage of the total number of rows in a source table that InitialSync randomly samples to get row IDs for distributing the table rows across multiple InitialSync threads. The default value of the parameter is now 0. If you use the default parameter value, InitialSync processes all table rows with a single thread. initial.rows_to_commit Changed This parameter now applies to more target database types. Specifies the maximum number of Insert rows that a single InitialSync thread can commit on the target. If you use the ODBC drivers to connect to targets, this parameter now applies to all target database types. If you use the target native load utilities, this parameter now applies to the following target types: - Greenplum - Microsoft SQL Server - PostgreSQL - Vertica Parameter and Option Changes 9

Advanced Runtime Parameter New, Changed, or Deprecated Description initial.script_engine_enabled New Indicates whether to enable or disable Tcl and SQL scripts during InitialSync synchronization of source and target tables. Options are: - 0. Disable Tcl and SQL scripts during InitialSync synchronization. The InitialSync task inserts null values into the target columns that are mapped to virtual columns with assigned Tcl or SQL scripts Enable Tcl and SQL scripts during InitialSync synchronization. Default value: 1 nzload.ignorezero New Indicates whether the Applier uses the Netezza IGNOREZERO external table option to strip null characters (0x00) from extracted source data when applying the data to a character column on the Netezza target. The null characters can be null values within the source data or null terminator characters. Options are: - 0. Do not strip null characters from the data. The Netezza target returns an error if the Applier tries to apply data that includes null characters to a character column Strip null characters from the data before applying the data to a character column. If a column contains null characters with other characters, the Applier forces Netezza to strip the null characters and then applies the other characters to the Netezza target column. For fixed-length target columns, the Applier pads the character string with blanks up to the fixed column length. If a source column contains only null characters, the Applier applies a null value to the Netezza target column. Caution: If the Applier applies a null value to a target column that is defined with the NOT NULL constraint, a constraint violation occurs. Note: The InitialSync task truncates source data at the first null character that it encounters, regardless of this parameter setting. Default value: 0 10 Chapter 1: Version 9.5.1

Advanced Properties for the Server Manager The following table describes changes to Server Manager advanced properties in Data Replication 9.5.1: Property New, Changed, or Deprecated Description IFViewersMaxBlobSize New Specifies the maximum size of the LOB data that the Data Replication Console displays in the Intermediate File Information dialog box for the beforeand after-image values in an intermediate file. If the size of the LOB data in the intermediate file exceeds the specified value, the Data Replication Console displays a truncated LOB value. When determining this value, consider the amount of memory that you allocated for the Java Virtual Machine (JVM.) The Data Replication Console might hang when allocating space for multiple large LOB values in the intermediate file. Default is 1 KB. MSSQLReplModeSecondsOfSleep BetweenOperations New For Microsoft SQL Server Standard and Express Edition sources, determines the interval between Server Manager requests to SQL Server to enable Replicate mode at the table level and at the column level. After the Server Manager sends a request to SQL Server to enable Replicate mode at the table level, the Server Manager waits the specified number of seconds and then sends a request to SQL Server to enable Replicate mode at the column level. Increase this parameter value if you configured the Server Manager to enable Replicate mode for a large number of source tables in a single request. If the Server Manager fails to enable Replicate mode for a subset of tables, increase this value and try to enable Replication mode from the Data Replication Console again. Default is 5 seconds. MSSQLReplModeTablesCountPerQuery New For Microsoft SQL Server Standard and Express Edition sources, determines the maximum number of source tables for which SQL Server enables Replicate mode in response to each Server Manager request. Default is tables. Parameter and Option Changes 11

Property New, Changed, or Deprecated Description NumberOfRestartAttempts New Specifies the maximum number of restart attempts for replication tasks that run in continuous mode. If a replication task that runs in continuous mode fails, the Server Manager tries to restart the task at adaptive intervals that are based on the TaskMaxTimeOut and TaskResetTimeoutTime parameters. After the Server Manager reaches the specified maximum number of restart attempts without restarting the task, the Server Manager reports a task failure. Default is 3 attempts. TmpDirectory New Specifies the directory in which a Server Manager instance stores temporary service files for viewing intermediate files. Default is DataReplication_installation/tmp. Command Line Parameter for the Server Manager The following table describes a new parameter that you can enter at the command line when you run the Server Manager script: Parameter New, Changed, or Deprecated Description start New On Linux and UNIX, starts the Server Manager instance. Note: If you run the server_manager.sh script without the start parameter, the script still starts the Server Manager instance by default. However, Informatica recommends that you include the start parameter to clearly indicate intent. Changes to Supported Replication Sources and Targets Data Replication introduces changes to supported versions of replication sources and targets. 12 Chapter 1: Version 9.5.1

Replication Sources The following table describes changes to the versions of replication sources that Data Replication supports: Source Versions New or Deprecated Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition R2 New Replication Targets The following table describes changes to the versions of replication targets that Data Replication supports: Source Versions New or Deprecated Greenplum 4.2 New Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) x x x x x - 2.x.x - CDH3 - CDH4 New MySQL 5.5 New Netezza 7.0 New Vertica Vertica Deprecated New Teradata 14.0 New Documentation Changes This section describes documentation changes and enhancements for Informatica Data Replication Informatica Data Replication Command Line Interface for the Server Manager Data Replication now delivers the Informatica Data Replication Command Line Interface for the Server Manager. This guide describes how to use the Command Line Interface (CLI) to manage replication schedules and tasks that run under a Server Manager instance a distributed replication topology. It covers how to run the CLI in interactive and non-interactive mode and the commands that you can enter. This guide is intended for application programmers who want to integrate Data Replication with third-party applications by using scripting. Documentation Changes 13

Informatica Data Replication Datatype Mapping Reference. Data Replication now delivers the Informatica Data Replication Datatype Mapping Reference. This guide describes recommended datatype mappings for all combinations of supported sources and targets. This guide is intended for system administrators, DBAs, and those who are responsible for configuring and administering data replication jobs. 14 Chapter 1: Version 9.5.1

C H A P T E R 2 Version This chapter includes the following topics: New Features, 15 Behavior Changes, 22 Parameter and Option Changes, 24 Changes to Supported Operating Systems and Databases, 30 Documentation Changes, 31 New Features Informatica Data Replication contains the following new features and enhancements. Encryption of Intermediate Files Data Replication can now encrypt intermediate files by using one of the following algorithms: TRIPLE_DES AES128 AES192 AES256 Multiple User Accounts Data Replication now supports multiple user accounts to control which users can connect to a Server Manager Main server and perform certain tasks from the Data Replication Console. Data Replication provides two types of user accounts: the idradmin user account and regular replication user accounts. The first time you connect to the Server Manager, you must log in as the idradmin user with a blank password. Subsequently, you can set the password for the idradmin user and create other replication user accounts. Data Replication uses an ownership mechanism to determine user privileges. Ownership pertains to the following replication objects: Configurations Schedules 15
