5 1 Introduction This release guide documents Release of the Banner General. Release includes enhancements, RPEs, and problem resolutions. Enhancements for The following enhancements were made for Multi-Entity Processing enhancements The enhancement provides institutions the ability to add VPDI code and policies to an environment that does have Multi-Entity Processing functionality. This enhancement only provides only the ability to add policies to Banner ERP products and modules. Miscellaneous enhancement This section contains detail on the enhancement for Institution selector icon. Cumulative documentation and patches This document provides detailed information about the Banner General release only. Banner General is a cumulative release that also includes enhancements, RPEs, and problem resolutions delivered in the General and releases. For complete documentation about these interim releases, please refer to the interim release guides identified in the table at the end of this section. 7 2 Multi-Entity Processing Enhancements - Functional Overview This section describes the functional enhancements for Multi-Entity Processing in Banner General A new form was added. The MEP Rules Form (GUAMEPR) allows institutions to easily create maintain, and apply Multi-Entity Processing functionality. The form is used to identify the tables that should have Multi-Entity Processing functionality applied. ote The Multi-Entity Processing Handbook has more information about Multi- Entity Processing. A beta version of the handbook is available upon request. To request a copy, open a service request through the Customer Support Center. ew form The following form was added to support the technical enhancements for Multi-Entity Processing. MEP Rules Form - GUAMEPR This form allows the creation, maintenance, and application of policies for Multi-Entity Processing. The form enables an institution to define the tables for which the data needs to be segregated. Segregation can be done by defining a template of tables manually or using the delivered templates. The form then generates scripts that can be executed to apply the necessary changes to columns, indices, foreign keys, triggers, and policies to implement Multi-Entity Processing. 8 Fields The following table describes the fields. Fields Descriptions Owner The field displays the Oracle ID that owns the table. You can perform a query from this field. ame Category The field displays the name of a specific table that exists in GUBMEPO table. The field displays a name of a category that exists in GUBMEPO table. Templates tab This tab is used to load multiple tables in the Objects tab. Rows that are displayed in this tab are defined in the Business Rules Form (GORRSQL). Fields The following table describes the fields. Fields Category Descriptions The field displays the Category code associated with the policies. Status User ID Activity Date Default Access Owner The column shows the number of rules that match from the Templates tab with the rules on the Objects tab. The following statuses can be displayed: All <number of tables> match - All rules from the Templates and Objects tabs match for all tables. <number of tables>/<number of tables> Different - There are no tables on the Objects tab that are defined by this template. <number of different tables>/<number of tables> Different - Some rules on the Templates tab match with some rules on the Objects tab. The User ID of the last user to update the rule in the GORRSQL form that associate with the row displayed. The date when the rule was last updated in the GORRSQL form. The header only for Owner, All, and User fields. The level of access associated with a user who has the same VPDI code as the data in the table. Buttons The following table describes the buttons on the Templates tab. Button View Tables Description The button lists the tables defined by the GORRSQL rule along with the currently defined rules on the Objects tab. Add Table Replace Table Delete Tables The button adds the tables with the respective default access to the Objects tab for any table in that rule which does not exist. The button adds the tables with the respective default access to the Objects tab for any table in a rule that does not exist and replaces the rule for any entry that does exists. The button deletes the tables from the Objects tab for any table in a rule that currently exists but does not have the In Keys option checked. If the In Keys option is checked, VPDI code has been added to at least one of the keys or indices of that table. Objects tab This tab is used to refine the rules established from the Templates tab as needed. This information is used by the scripts (defined in the next section) that enable Multi-Entity Processing functionality. Fields The following table describes the fields. Fields Table Owner Descriptions The schema owner of the table. Table/View ame Category The name of the table. The category that groups several tables together. A translation of the system code. The User ID of the last user to update this record. The date when this record was last inserted or updated. The level of access associated with a user who has the same VPDI code as the data in the table, which is controlled by the BY_OWER policy. The level of access associated with a user who has the same VPDI code as the data in the table, which is controlled by the BY_ALL policy. The level of access associated with a user who has the same VPDI code as the data in the table, which is controlled by the BY_USER policy. If this option is checked, a column with the name of <table_name>_vpdi_code is defined. If this option is checked, a column with the name of <table_name>_vpdi_code is defined and is included in at least one of the keys or indices for the table. If a VPDI policy exists for the table, the policy associated with the table if a policy exists is displayed. The VPDI policies names are formatted as <table>_vpdi_<type of access>_policy. The <type of access> value represents these values: S for Select or Query I for Insert U for Update D for Delete ARAAWD_VPDI_SIUD_POLICY is an example that uses these values. If a policy exists for the table, the group to which that policy belongs is displayed. 11 Fields Insert Update Delete Static Enabled Check Option Policy Owner Package Function Descriptions If this option is checked, a policy exists for the table, and the policy is associate with Insert. If this option is checked, a policy exists for the table, and the policy is associate with Update. If this option is checked, a policy exists for the table and the policy is associate with Delete. If this option is checked, a policy exists for the table, and the policy is defined as STATIC. If this option is checked, a policy exists for the table, and the policy is enabled. If a policy exists for the table, the name of the package associated with that policy is displayed. Button View Alter Table Script Description This button displays the script that will be created by the gmep_genvpid and gmep_genindex scripts. View Policy Create Script View Trigger Create Script View Source Code This button displays the script that will be created by the gmep_genpolicy script. This button displays the script that will be generated by the gmep_gentrigger script. This button displays the source code of the policy. 12 Defaults tab This tab identifies functions that will be used for generating policies. Fields The following table describes the fields. Fields Descriptions Owner The owner of the package used by the By Owner Policy, By All Policy, and By User Policy. Package ame Function ame User ID The package name used by the By Owner Policy, By All Policy, and By User Policy. The function name used by By Owner Policy, By All Policy, and By User Policy. 13 3 Multi-Entity Processing Enhancements - Technical Overview This section describes the technical enhancements made to Multi-Entity Processing in Banner General Several new tables, scripts, and seed data were added. These technical enhancements benefit institutions in that VPDI code and policies can be added to tables en masse to enable Multi-Entity Processing functionality. The technical enhancements for Multi-Entity Processing allow multiple campuses to share a common database. The data for each campus is specified by a VPDI_CODE on each row of each table that has a campus specific value (for example, CAMP1, MAI, CAMP2). 14 ew scripts There are several scripts that are used to add Multi-Entity Processing to a table. The following table describes the scripts. Script gmep_applyseed.sql Results This script generates a script to apply another script multiple times to a table for each GTVVPDI code. gmep_copy_gubinst.sql This script replicates the GUBIST data across all VPDI codes. gmep_gendata.sql gmep_gendisable.sql gmep_genindex.sql gmep_genpolicy.sql gmep_gentrigger.sql gmep_genvpdi.sql This script replicates data from one VPDI code to all the others defined on the GTVVPDI form. This script generates two scripts that disables all Banner tables before adding Mult-Entity Processing and enables the triggers once the process is complete. This script generates the scripts that add the VPDI column to the indices, foreign keys, unique indices, and primary keys as needed. This script generates the scripts that add the policies to the tables. This script generates the scripts that add the triggers for populating the VPDI code for tables. RPEs This section describes the RPE for General Update hover over Institution select icon (RPE 1- HVO97) GOQWFLW.pll, GOQRPLS.pll, GUMAPPL.mmb Previously, the hover over for Institution select icon read Multi-Institution not enabled when Multi-Entity Processing was not enabled. The following scripts are used to load the data: gorrsqli_080401_01.sql - Loads GORRSQL rules to be used by the Templates tab on the MEP Rules Form. gorrsqli_080401_02.sql - Sets the Active and Validated options for the rules on GORRSQL form based on the data that currently exists in your environment. All new rules are under the MEP_RULES process. The Active option is determined by on existing tables.
