Object Wizards/Editrs Yu can nw create and edit bjects f the fllwing types: check cnstraints, dmains, exclusin cnstraints, freign keys, functins, indexes, primary keys, rles, rules, schemas, tables, tablespaces, triggers, unique keys, and views. Refresh Materialized View Object Actin A new Refresh Materialized View actin is available against views created using the CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW statement. It lets yu build and submit a REFRESH MATERIALIZED VIEW statement. Simple default behavir replaces the cntents f a materialized view. 5 PstgreSQL Tls Menu Updates The fllwing Tls menu features are nw available against PstgreSQL datasurces: Database Search lets yu search fr bjects whse DDL cntains a specified character string, acrss multiple databases. Query Builder lets yu cnstruct, structure, and manipulate queries using a graphical interface. Data Editr lets yu edit table data in real time. PstgreSQL Updates t the SQL Editr The Paste SQL Syntax and Paste SQL Statement features are nw available against PstgreSQL datasurces. Embarcader Technlgies 5

6 Welcme Windw The Welcme Windw helps custmers t get infrmatin abut prduct features, news and upcming events. This windw als includes direct links t useful Rapid SQL features like New Prject, Open Prject r links t Recent Datasurces. User Interface Changes Fr the Prject Management feature, subprject ndes have been renamed t prject subflder ndes. The Facurites feature has been renamed t Script Library. Datasurce Registratin Updates Fr cnnectivity purpses, Rapid SQL is packaged with a native driver as well as a set f ne r mre JDBC drivers fr each DBMS platfrm. In previus releases, the native driver fr each platfrm was the default cnnectin ptin when registering a datasurce. This release intrduces tw enhancements: Yu can nw designate ne f the JDBC drivers as the default cnnectivity ptin fr a DBMS platfrm. Yu can universally change the definitin fr all existing, currently uncnnected datasurces fr a platfrm t use either the native driver r a JDBC driver as the cnnectin ptin. Embarcader Technlgies 6

7 In the Optins Editr, the Cnnectins page nw has a tab crrespnding t each supprted DBMS platfrm. The Default Driver Selectin grup f settings prvides the new functins. Fr DBMS platfrms with a native driver and ne r mre JDBC drivers packaged, the Cnnect using... and JDBC driver t use cntrls enable selectin f a JDBC driver as the default cnnectin ptin and let yu select a JDBC driver. The Assign t all discnnected Datasurces cntrl assigns the selected JDBC driver as the cnnectin ptin fr all discnnected datasurces fr the current platfrm, if the Cnnect using... cntrl is selected. Otherwise it assigns the native driver as the cnnectin ptin fr all discnnected datasurces fr the current DBMS platfrm Trace File Lgging Optins As a new diagnstic tl, yu can nw generate a trace file cnsisting f the sequence f Lgging page nw lets yu activate and deactivate, specify a lcatin fr, and select a severity level f messages lgged. In descending rder f severity (and ascending rder f ttal messages lgged), Trace Level ptins are Fatal Errrs, Errrs, Warning, Inf, Debug, Trace, and Max. Versin Cntrl Updates Rapid SQL nw supprts any surce cntrl prduct that uses the MSSCCI plug-in interface. Nte: Fr the 64-bit versin f Rapid SQL, a 32-bir versin f the MSSCCI prvider can be used fr versin cntrl access. tthe feature is cntrlled fr the Optins Editr's Versin Cntrl tab (File > Optins > General > Versin Cntrl). 8 DBMS Platfrm Updates The fllwing tpics describe DBMS platfrm and versin updates fr this release. Sybase IQ 16 - Functinality available fr previus Sybase IQ releases is nw available against Sybase IQ 16 datasurces. Apache Hive - This release presents a technical preview f Apache Hive supprt. As with ther technical previews, minimal functinality is prvided. Features include datasurce registratin and cnnectin, a minimal Navigatr/Explrer tree, and a minimal set f bject management features. Object Brwser Updates Imprved numeric clumn filtering in Object Brwser. Users can nw filter numeric clumns by using peratrs (>,=,<,<=,>=). When n peratr is used, >= is assumed. ISQL Windws Backup Fr Windws Vista and higher, the aut save feature f Rapid SQL is nw cnnected t the Restart Manager. Als, unlike the previus versin ( Windws XP) all mdified ISQL windws will have a backup saved at a regular interval, even thse ISQL windws that d nt have a file name assciated with them. In the event f a crash, thse ISQL windws will autmatically pen up n the next restart. If the Restart Manager is able t detect the crash, it will attempt t autmatically restart the applicatin fr yu. On Windws XP, this feature will functin as it did in past versins. Cnnectivity Imprvement Cnnectivity has been imprved t have a central lcatin in the ptins page t set the driver fr all datasurces f a certain type t use. An individual datasurce can verride this setting, but by default all datasurces will bey the glbal setting. N lnger will custmers have t change each individual datasurce if they want t use a particular driver fr their system. Java Update Rapid SQL has updated t Java 1.7. Imprved Multi-Mnitr Supprt Users can nw detach any MDI tab frm the main applicatin windw. They can grup these detached tabs tgetther r keep them separate. Embarcader Technlgies 8
