Finance Infrmatin System Data Warehuse (pages 13 21) is A training and reference tl fr FIS Data Warehuse users, prviding specific infrmatin and tips abut: accessing and using the administrative reprts; and creating and refining queries in the FIS DW mdel currently installed at Oregn State University. In the Overview yu will be given: Cntact infrmatin specific t the FIS DW mdel, The purpses f the FIS DW mdel, and Access requirements. 5 Appendix A BI/Query 9.1 & 9.2 Settings and Defaults Web Interactive: Mdel Changes: Select Tls Preferences frm the pull dwn menu. In the Settings blck, the CONNECT AUTOMATICALLY, SHOW SQL STRING, SHOW COMPLETED FREEHAND DIALOG, ALLOW DYNAMIC RELATIONSHIPS, TRIM RELATIONSHIPS, and AUTOMATICALLY ORDER OUTER JOINS fields shuld be checked. In the Qualificatin blck, the FORMAT shuld be set t Attribute, DEFAULT OPERATOR set t AND, and CASE-SENSITIVE shuld be checked. In the Gvernrs blck, the NO ROW GOVERNOR and NO TIME GOVERNOR can be selected t allw a query t run withut interruptin. T interrupt a query after a set number f recrds r after a specific amunt f time, change the values in ASK EVERY t sme value greater than 0. Set them t a number high enugh t prevent cnstant interruptin. The tp 3 buttns in the right clumn, Windw Fnts, Windw Clrs, and Design Clrs custmize yur mdel s appearance using varius fnts and clrs. Fr fnt selectin, we recmmend using an Open Type fnt r True Type fnt like Arial 8. The middle 3 buttns, Exprt Optins, Results Optins, and Query Optins, custmize the query utput frmat and lcatin. Exprt Optins' is used t identify a receiving sftware fr exprting Data Warehuse data. Be sure t cmplete the EXECUTE COMMAND LINE with the path name t the applicatin s executable. 'Results Optins' is used t identify the structure f the data file created by the query. Checking SAVE COLUMN HEADINGS in the Optins blck will result in the attribute names appearing as clumn headings when exprting int ther applicatins. The 'Separatrs' settings fr mst Micrsft applicatins are FIELD = <TAB>, RECORD = <CR><LF>, and END OF FILE = <Nne>. The next 3 buttns, Data Frmatting, Reprt Brders, and Reprt Optins custmize yur reprting tl using varius frmatting and graphics. Data Frmatting is used t identify the frmat f the data types created by the query. We recmmend that yu leave these alne, thugh yu may set BOOLEAN FIELDS = Y/N and NULL VALUES = <Blank>. Fr Reprt Brders, we recmmend that yu set the default after sme experience using the sftware. In Reprt Optins, best results are achieved if null values are calculated and shwn as zer. Set User Passwrd is a sftware lckut passwrd, nt yur lgn passwrd. Click OK when yu are dne. Select File Print Setup where yu can chse either Prtrait r Landscape. Always save any Preferences changes by selecting File Save frm the pull dwn menu. Cnnectin Changes (affect all three Mdels, and need nly be set nce): Select Hst Cnnectins frm the pull dwn menu. Highlight the DWPROD.cn file and click the Edit buttn n the right. Select the Preferences buttn. The Cnnectin Preferences dialg bx cntrls the number f recrds passed thrugh the cnnectin. If running a query causes the sftware t hang up, reduce the ROW BUFFERING and DBACCESS ROW BUFFERING t an equal lesser number than the default f 200. In the Gvernrs blck, USE PREFERENCE GOVERNORS sets cntrl at the mdel level. T set Gvernrs at the glbal level, uncheck the bx and refer t the Gvernrs bullet abve. Click OK, click Save, and then click Dne. 43
