This guide prvides instructins fr installing Sage HRMS 2017 fr the first time, upgrading Sage HRMS frm prir versins, and upgrading t Sage HRMS frm Sage Abra Suite. Installing Sage HRMS Payrll fr Sage 300 If yu are installing Sage HRMS Payrll, be advised that Sage 300 Prject and Jb Csting and Sage HRMS Payrll client cannt reside n the same server. Befre yu start the installatin, make sure that Sage 300 Prject and Jb Csting is nt n the same server where yu install Sage HRMS Payrll. We recmmend yu use virtual wrkstatins fr the client instances f Sage HRMS. Nte: When Sage HRMS 2017 is installed withut Payrll, the prgram supprts integratin with Sage 300 Prject and Jb Csting. The tl that facilitates this integratin is called Sage Payrll Link. Visit the Sage HRMS Prduct Dcuments website t dwnlad the installatin and cnfiguratin guide fr Sage Payrll Link. Database Create credentials Installatin requires Database Create credentials. Fr the installatin, the SQL accunt t be used during the installatin must have full DB Create (administrative) credentials, such as username SA (System Administratr) and the passwrd. If the Enterprise SQL DB Administratr will nt prvide an accunt with DB Create credentials, d the fllwing: Have the Enterprise SQL DB Administratr create a SQL accunt especially fr the Sage HRMS database and give that accunt name t the install team. After the install have the Enterprise SQL DB Administratr dwngrade this accunt t DB Owner credentials nly. Be advised that the accunt used during installatin is the same accunt and passwrd that will be used by the Sage HRMS applicatin. T test this accunt and passwrd cmbinatin, refer t the Database Cnnectin Tl instructins. Only alphanumeric characters are permitted n install screens: When yu enter text in fields n the installatin screens (such as cmpany name r server name), the text must cntain nly alpha r numeric characters (alphabetic characters a-z, A-Z and numeric characters 0-9). Yu must nt use any spaces r special characters, such as #, r punctuatin marks. Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 6

7 Chapter 1: Installing Sage HRMS This chapter prvides instructins t install Sage HRMS fr the first time. T familiarize yurself with the prcess, be sure t read all the steps befre yu start the installatin. If yu are upgrading frm a previus versin f Sage HRMS, g t "Upgrading Sage HRMS" (page 13). The installatin f Sage HRMS cnsists f tw separate installatins: installing n the server and installing the sftware client(s). Fllw the steps belw t first install Sage HRMS n a server, and then install a client either n the same server machine r n a separate machine. If yu will run Sage HRMS n a netwrk, the first user t lg n each machine must d a separate client install. Step 1: Install Sage HRMS n the server Nte: Administratr privileges are required t install. Sage HRMS prgram users must als have read access (at a minimum) t the Windws registry in rder t use the prgram and install nging prduct updates. 1. At the server machine, pen the Sage HRMS installatin package. If yu will use Sage HRMS with Micrsft SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2012 (Standard r Enterprise Editins), SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014, r SQL Server 2016 and the SQL Server is already installed, prceed t number 6 belw. If yu d nt already have SQL Server Express Editin installed, prceed t number 2. Nte: SQL Server Express Editin is a free dwnlad frm Micrsft, but we recmmend yu have n mre than 500 emplyees if using this editin. The Prfiler feature is nt available in this editin. 2. Visit and use the search t find SQL Server Express (a free dwnlad). 3. Once yu have the dwnlad file saved t yur server, access it lcally (nt frm the netwrk), rightclick the SQLEXPR*.exe file, and select t Run as administratr. 4. Select Install SQL Server Express Editin and prceed with the installatin. The system checks fr, and if necessary, installs prerequisites fr installatin (such as Windws Installer,.NET Framewrk, and MDAC 2.8) befre it begins installing SQL Server Express editin. 5. When the SQL Server Express Editin installatin is cmplete, restart yur server. Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 7

8 6. Open the Sage HRMS installatin package frm Sage, right-click the setup.exe file, and chse Run as administratr. If yu receive a prmpt regarding which accunt t use t run the prgram, clear the check bx next t Run this prgram with restricted access and click OK. Imprtant! Yu must save this installatin package unzipped t a lcatin where it cannt be deleted. This is critical t supprt the prduct updates. 7. Click Next when the Sage HRMS Installer welcme windw pens. 8. Review the Sage End User License Agreement in the License Agreement windw, accept the terms, and click Next. 9. Enter yur Username and Organizatin n the Custmer Infrmatin windw, and click Next. 10. Click Next t accept the default destinatin flder where the Sage HRMS Server will be installed; therwise click Change and select anther destinatin. 11. Enter the required infrmatin in the SQL Setup windw. As yu enter infrmatin, nte the fllwing: Server, User, Passwrd If yu are using SQL Server Express, enter <SQLServerName\Instance Name> fr the Server Name, then enter sa in the Username field and the passwrd fr the server System Administratr (sa) accunt. If yu are using SQL Server, enter the <SQLServerName>, Username, and Passwrd. The SQL Server user must have administratr privileges. D nt use lcalhst fr the server name if yu plan t install remte clients. Databases Perids are nt permitted in database names. Database names cannt have mre than 14 characters. The databases displayed are the default SQL databases that are installed. SageHRMS_Live and SageHRMS_System are bth required. Optinally, the sample databases can be installed. Sample data allws yu t practice in the system using data frm a simulated cmpany. It des nt affect yur live cmpany data. 12. Select the Install Sample Data check bx if yu want t include sample data with yur installatin. Three sets f sample data are installed: Sample Database is the sample HR database. Sample Payrll Database is the sample U.S. Payrll database. Sample Canadian Payrll Database is the sample Canadian Payrll database. Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 8

9 Nte: When yu select the Install Sample Data check bx, the system installs all three sets f sample data, regardless f yur cnfiguratin. Use the sample data t view and practice cmplex prcesses safely befre implementing the prcesses n yur live cmpany data. 13. Click Next t establish a cnnectin with the server. If yu receive a message that the server name, username, r passwrd are invalid, verify that yur entries are crrect. If yu are installing fr SQL Server Express and yu did nt restart yur system befre installing Sage HRMS, restart yur server nw, and begin the Sage HRMS installatin again. 14. Use the Ready t Install the Prgram windw t verify yur settings are crrect, then click Install. 15. When the server installatin is cmplete, click Finish n the Install Cmpleted windw. 16. If prmpted, restart yur system. 17. Frm Windws Explrer, g t the destinatin flder where yu installed the server (the default lcatin is C:\PrgramData\Sage\SageHRMSServer), and set yur sharing settings fr all Sage HRMS and Payrll users as fllws: a. Right-click the SageHRMSServer flder and select Prperties. b. Click the Sharing tab and Share the flder. Yu may be required t click the Advanced Sharing buttn t prceed depending n yur system. Set the Permissins fr all users wh access Sage HRMS ver the netwrk n the shared flder t Allw Full Cntrl. c. Make sure the flder s Share Name des nt cntain a space. Fr example, use SageHRMSServer as a share name instead f "Sage HRMS Server." 18. Click Apply and then OK t clse. Step 2: Enable Server Prtcls and the SQL Brwser Service Befre yu install a client, yu must enable prper prtcls n the server and enable the SQL Brwser Service t set up the SQL Server. T enable Server Prtcls 1. Open the SQL Server Cnfiguratin Manager. Depending n yur versin f Micrsft SQL Server (2008, 2012, 2014, r 2016), this may be frm the Start menu > All Prgrams > Micrsft SQL Server > Cnfiguratin Tls > SQL Server Cnfiguratin Manager. 2. Frm the left panel, expand SQL Server Netwrk Cnfiguratin and SQL Native Client Cnfiguratin. 3. Click Prtcls/Client Prtcls. Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 9

10 4. Set the Shared Memry, TCP/IP, and Named Pipes prtcls t Enabled. Fr the purpse f client installs, the status f the VIA prtcl des nt matter. T enable the SQL Brwser Service 1. Frm the SQL Server Cnfiguratin Manager, select SQL Server Services. 2. Frm the left panel, highlight SQL Server Service. 3. Verify the Service name SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) Startup type field is set t Autmatic and that Service status field is Running. If it is nt running, yu must Start the service. 4. Select All Prgrams > Administrative Tls>Services. 5. Highlight SQL Server Brwser. 6. Change the Startup type frm Disabled t Autmatic and click Apply. 7. Under SQL Server Services, select and Start the SQLBrwser service. 8. Click OK t clse the windw. 9. G t All Prgrams > Administrative Tls > Cmputer Management t pen the Cmputer Management windw. 10. Frm the Services and Applicatins sectin, select Services and scrll t the SQL Server entries. 11. Verify that bth the SQL Server and SQL Server Brwser services are set t Started and Autmatic. 12. Clse the Cmputer Management windw. Step 3: Install the Sage HRMS client If yu are perating Sage HRMS n the server, yu must als install the HRMS client n the same server machine. The sftware client install is necessary nly fr the first install f Sage HRMS client with. Befre installing the client Administratr privileges are required t install these cmpnents.sage HRMS prgram users must als have read access (at a minimum) t the Windws registry in rder t use the prgram and install quarterly prduct updates. If yu are nt a member f the administratrs grup and yu install the client n Windws 7, Windws 8 (and 8.1), Windws 10, Windws Server 2008, r Windws Server 2012, yu will be required t enter an administratr user accunt and passwrd befre yu can cntinue. Imprtant! Yu must have installed Micrsft.NET Framewrk r higher prir t installing Sage HRMS n the client. Yur standard MS Windws updates shuld install.net but we recmmend Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 10

11 yu verify yur.net versin befre beginning the installatin. T install the Sage HRMS client 1. If yu are installing a client n the server machine, yu can start the client installatin using the shrtcut Sage HRMS Client Install placed n the desktp frm the server installatin. Or, at the client machine, g t the shared flder n the server (either by using a UNC path r by creating a mapped drive). Frm the Client flder, right-click the setup.exe file, and select t Run as administratr. 2. The Windws Installer and client installatin begins. If a required cmpnent is nt fund n yur machine, a windw lists the missing required cmpnents. 3. Click Install t start installing the required cmpnents. 4. If prmpted t restart yur cmputer, restart immediately (d nt pstpne the restart, as it will affect the installatin prcess). 5. After restarting, the Sage HRMS Client Install Welcme windw pens. Click Next t cntinue with the client installatin. 6. If yu will use Sage HRMS Payrll (U.S., Canadian, r bth), fllw the prmpts t install the payrll mdules and restart Sage HRMS when finished. 7. When prmpted, select the Launch Sage HRMS Client check bx and click Finish. 8. When prmpted, register yur sftware and enter the Serial Number and Installatin Cde prvided by Sage when yu purchased the prduct. Registratin is required nly n the first client installatin. 9. If yu want t add the integratins fr Sage 100 Standard G/L, Sage 100 Advanced G/L, Sage 500 ERP G/L, r Sage X3 G/L, select the assciated check bxes and click OK. 10. Click OK t update yur files and restart again if prmpted. 11. The Sage HRMS Lgn windw appears when the file update and restart are cmplete. Step 4: Install SAP Crystal Reprts SAP Crystal Reprts Designer SAP Crystal Reprts 2011 Designer is prvided as a cmpnent f Sage HRMS The Designer versin prvides the ptin t create, mdify, and use custm and ad hc reprts in Sage HRMS. Withut installing this additinal cmpnent, yu can still view and print standard reprts in Sage HRMS but yu cannt mdify them. Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 11

12 Installing SAP Crystal Reprts 2011 T install SAP Crystal Reprts, lg int the Sage Knwledgebase ( and search fr Article ID Fllw the steps in the article t dwnlad and install the prgram. Yu must lg in t the Knwledgebase t view the dwnlad article. Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 12

13 Chapter 2: Upgrading Sage HRMS This chapter walks yu thrugh upgrading Sage HRMS 2016 r 2015 t Sage HRMS T familiarize yurself with the prcess and make sure yu have everything yu need fr a successful upgrade, please read all the steps befre yu start them. Nte: Befre installing, cnsult with yur business partner r Sage t ensure that this prgram is cmpatible with custmizatins, integrated third-party applicatins, and ther cnfiguratin ptins. If yu install this prgram independently, yu assume respnsibility fr any impact n yur system. Befre yu start Befre yu begin the upgrade, cmplete all payrll prcessing and print yur payrll checks. Yu must have installed Micrsft.NET Framewrk r higher prir t installing Sage HRMS n the client. Yur standard MS Windws updates shuld install.net but we recmmend yu verify yur.net versin befre yu install the prgram. Step 1: Upgrade the server Yu must have administratr privileges t install the upgrade. Nte: Sample data is always verwritten during an upgrade. Live data is never verwritten. 1. Back up yur data. 2. At the server machine, pen the Sage HRMS installatin package, right-click the setup.exe file, and chse Run as administratr. 3. When the Sage HRMS Installer pens, click Install Sage HRMS. The Preparing t Install windw pens and the server upgrade prcess begins. If yu receive a prmpt regarding which accunt t use t run the prgram, clear the check bx next t Run this prgram with restricted access and click OK. 4. Click Next when the Sage HRMS Installer welcme windw pens. 5. The installatin starts and the prgress bar displays during the installatin. 14 6. When the server installatin is cmplete, click Finish n the Install Cmpleted windw. 7. If prmpted, restart yur system. Step 2: Install the latest prduct update Befre upgrading the client machines, yu must install the latest quarterly prduct update fr Sage HRMS This ensures that yu capture and receive any changes made t the sftware after the prduct was released. Dwnlad the latest prduct update 1. Visit the Sage Knwledgebase at click Lg n, and then lg n t the site. 2. In the Supprt by prduct sectin, click Select yur prduct, and then click mre prducts. 3. Under Sage HRMS, click Sage HRMS In the Latest updates sectin, click the mst recent quarterly update dwnlad. 5. In the article, click Dwnlad Nw t launch the Sage Dwnlad Manager, r click the direct dwnlad link t dwnlad the executable file. 6. Fllw the instructins in the accmpanying release ntes t install the update. Step 3: Upgrade the client Yu must be lgged in as a user with administratr privileges befre upgrading the clients. Fr each remte client machine accessing Sage HRMS, cmplete the fllwing steps: Nte: If yu have nt already installed Micrsft.NET Framewrk 4.5.2, it will autmatically install with the client. 1. At the client machine, select Start > All Prgrams > Sage > Sage HRMS Client > Sage HRMS Client. 2. When a message prmpts yu t perfrm the client upgrade, click Yes. 3. When the client upgrade is cmplete, yu will be prmpted t restart Sage HRMS. If Yu Are Nt Installing Sage HRMS Payrll 4. The Update windw pens after yu click Finish. Click OK t update yur files. 5. When file update is cmplete, the Sage HRMS Lgn windw appears. Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 14

15 6. Select Use Windws Lgn if yu are using Windws authenticatin t lg n. Otherwise, enter yur username and passwrd and click Lgn. 7. Click OK when prmpted t upgrade yur data. Installatin is nw cmplete fr HR-nly systems. If Yu Are Installing Sage HRMS Payrll 4. The payrll mdules windw pens after yu click Finish. Click Yes t install the upgraded payrll mdules. 5. When the payrll mdules installatin is cmplete, the Update windw pens. Click OK t upgrade yur data. 6. When the upgrade is cmplete, the Sage HRMS Lgn windw appears. Step 4: Install SAP Crystal Reprts 2011 SAP Crystal Reprts Designer SAP Crystal Reprts 2011 Designer is prvided as a cmpnent f Sage HRMS The Designer versin prvides the ptin t create, mdify, and use custm and ad hc reprts in Sage HRMS. Withut installing this additinal cmpnent, yu can still view and print standard reprts in Sage HRMS but yu cannt mdify them. Installing SAP Crystal Reprts 2011 T install SAP Crystal Reprts, lg int the Sage Knwledgebase ( and search fr Article ID Fllw the steps in the article t dwnlad and install the prgram. Yu must lg in t the Knwledgebase t view the dwnlad article. Nte: SAP Crystal Reprts Designer versin 2008 (riginally prvided with Sage HRMS 2014) is nt supprted with Sage HRMS Upgrading custmized payrll reprts and check frms If yur standard reprts (such as the Payrll Register, Transactin Histry, and s n) have been custmized by yu r a business partner, the system stres the custmizatins as RPT and DLL files in the fllwing Windws flder and subflders n yur Sage HRMS applicatin server machine: [Drive]:\PrgramData\Sage\SageHRMSServer\Payrll\CustmReprts\UP###\ r CP###\ Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 15

16 When a user pens a standard payrll reprt with custmizatins, the system reads the RPT and DLL files stred in the \CustmReprts subflders n the server t generate the reprt with the custmizatins. If the RPT and DLL files are nt in the \CustmReprts subflders when the reprt is pened, the system autmatically reads the standard reprt files frm the user s lcal machine in the fllwing flder: [Drive]:\Prgram Files (x86)\sage\sage Accpac\UP###\ENG When yu install a new versin f Sage HRMS Payrll (U.S. r Canadian), nly standard payrll reprts are upgraded. If yu manually custmized any standard reprts, yu must manually maintain the custm reprt files s they can be accessed after the upgrade is installed. Upgrading t Sage HRMS Payrll 2017 With this release, the standard reprt file paths are updated as fllws: [Drive]:\Prgram Files (x86)\sage\sage Accpac\UP73A\ENG fr standard U.S. Payrll reprts and check frms [Drive]:\Prgram Files (x86)\sage\sage Accpac\CP73A\ENG fr standard Canadian Payrll reprts and cheque frms [Drive]:\Prgram Files (x86)\sage\sage Accpac\GL64A\ENG fr Payrll General Ledger reprts [Drive]:\Prgram Files (x86)\sage\sage Accpac\BK64A\ENG fr Payrll Bank reprts Cmplete the fllwing steps t maintain yur custmized standard reprts: 1. Open the flder file path where the standard reprt DLL files are stred fr the newly installed versin (73A and 64A). Fr example, fr the Payrll Register reprt, g t C:\Prgram Files (x86)\sage\sage Accpac\UP73A\ 2. Right-click and Cpy nly thse DLL files assciated with the custmized reprt. If yu dn't knw which DLL files are used fr the reprts, see Knwledgebase article fr instructins t identify the assciated files. Fr example, fr the Payrll Register reprt, yu may need t cpy the UPQREG.DLL and upreggl.dll files. Warning! If yu cpy and paste r mve DLL files ther than thse assciated with yur custmized reprts, yu may cause system errrs. DLL files are used t dynamically link cdes, databases, and prcedures fr the sftware; the files shuld be mved nly if yu are certain they are the crrect files fr custmized standard reprts. 3. G t the Custm Reprts versin flder n the Sage HRMS Server machine fr the latest install. Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 16

17 Fr example, C:\PrgramData\Sage\SageHRMSServer\Payrll\CustmReprts\UP73A (r \CP73A fr Canadian Payrll) 4. Right-click and Paste the cpied DLL files t this flder. 5. Lg in t Sage HRMS client. 6. Open yur custmized standard reprt and verify the custmizatins are present. Imprtant! If yu receive an errr when viewing yur custmized standard reprts, yu must recreate the custmizatins. We recmmend yu recreate the custmizatins in the new RPT files (in the *73A\ENG flders) s yu capture the enhancements we prvide with the upgrade. 7. Repeat these steps fr all standard reprts that yu custmize. Nte: Sage may peridically update a standard reprt t shw a new field r reprt additinal infrmatin. When yu custmize the standard reprts, yu lse the ability t access the enhancements we prvide with prduct updates and upgrades. After upgrading If yu use custm applicatins that integrate with Sage HRMS, yu must designate the lcatin f the applicatins. Fllw the steps belw t use the Abrawin.ini file t lcate yur custm applicatins. 1. On the server machine, create a flder where yur custm r third-party applicatins will be lcated. 2. Install yur custm r third-party applicatins int this flder. 3. Open the Abrawin.ini file (lcated in the \SageHRMSServer flder) and add a [Sage HRMS] sectin that designates the path t the custm applicatins flder. Fr example, the line belw added t the Abrawin.ini file will direct Sage HRMS t search the Third Party Apps flder fr the custm applicatins installed in the flder. (Sage HRMS will search nly in the rt path, nt in sub-flders.) [Sage HRMS]CustmApps = C:\Sage HRMS\Third Party Apps\ 4. Save the file. Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 17

18 Chapter 3: Cnverting frm Sage Abra Suite This chapter discusses the prcedures fr cnverting yur HR-nly Visual FxPr database in Sage Abra Suite t SQL Server database in Sage HRMS. Imprtant! The cnversin prcedures cnsist f installing Sage HRMS, cnverting yur existing Sage Abra Suite Visual FxPr data t Sage HRMS SQL Server data, and changing the data surce fr custm reprts frm Abra Data Access t Sage HRMS Data Access. T cnvert frm Sage Abra Suite versin 9.2 Nte: Yu must have administratr privileges t install this upgrade and perfrm the cnversin. 1. Install Sage HRMS. See Installing Sage HRMS. Yu must install the server as well as all remte clients. Yu can install Sage HRMS n the same server machine as yur Sage Abra Suite versin (this is called a side-by-side installatin). 2. When server and client installatins are cmplete, yu must nw upsize yur data. This cnverts yur HR-nly database frm Visual FxPr t SQL Server. See Using the Upsize Wizards fr FxPr t SQL Server Cnversin. 3. If yu are using Abra Link r custm Visual FxPr databases (such as fr third-party applicatins), yu must nw upsize yur Abra Link and custm data. See Using the Upsize Wizards fr FxPr t SQL Server Cnversin. 4. If yu created custm reprts in Sage Abra Suite, yu must update the reprting data surce frm Sage Abra Suite Data Access t Sage HRMS Data Access. See Upsizing Sage Abra Suite Custm Reprts. The Sage HRMS Data Upsizing Wizard cnverts an HR and Time Off-nly Sage Abra Suite (Visual FxPr) database t a SQL Server r SQL Server Express Editin database. If yur system includes Sage Abra Suite Payrll, the Upsize Wizard updates the payrll data fr archival purpses and the data cannt be used as is in Sage HRMS Payrll. Yu must cntact Sage HRMS Prfessinal Services Grup r yur certified business partner fr assistance with cnverting yur payrll database t Sage HRMS. Database structure changes When yu run the Data Upsizing Wizard, the structure f the database changes as fllws: An integer type field named ID_Cl is added t all tables that are autmatically ppulated. The field value increments by ne each time a new recrd is added. All date types are cnverted t date/time types. T avid cnflict with T-SQL, all field names that are T-SQL-reserved wrds (desc, rule, table, and grup), are cnverted t fdesc, frule, ftable, and fgrup. When upsizing t a SQL Server r SQL Server Express database: The Custm Details tables in the custm flder (such as TKSCREEN.DBF and TKTABLES.DBF) are added t the database. If any errrs ccur during the upsize, a message is displayed when the upsize is finished. If the table already exists in the target database, it is drpped and upsized again. Open the flder with the Data Upsizing Wizard.exe file, and right-click and Run as Administratr t launch the Upsizing Wizard. 2. Select SQL Server as the database destinatin. 3. In the Database flder t upsize frm field, select the lcatin f the database flder yu want t cnvert. 4. In the Temprary wrking flder field, select the lcatin f the flder t use fr the intermediary files needed during the cnversin. The default is C:\Temp\UpsizeWiz\. 5. Enter the fllwing infrmatin and then click Test SQL Cnnectin t make sure the cnnectin is valid. Nte that the defaults display as a result f the installatin, but yu can change them if necessary. Server. This is stred in the Abrawin.ini file. Database name. This is the Live database name stred in the Abrawin.ini file. User ID. This is stred in the DBAccunt.ini file. Passwrd. This is stred in the DBAccunt.ini file and is displayed as asterisks. Select the Pht Settings tab and set the lcatin fr yur emplyee phts. 6. Click Start t begin the upsize prcess. The prgress f the data upsizing is cnveyed by tw status bars. The first ne represents the specific table being cnverted; the secnd ne represents all Sage HRMS 2017 Installatin Guide 20

21 tables in the database being cnverted. 7. When upsizing is cmplete, click OK. Upsizing Sage Abra Suite custm reprts This sectin applies t custm reprts created with Sage Abra Suite. When yu upgrade t Sage HRMS, yu must change the data surce fr each reprt and save it t a new flder. Befre yu upsize reprts Yu must have Sage HRMS and SAP Crystal Reprts 2011 installed. SAP Crystal Reprts 2011 Designer is prvided as a cmpnent f Sage HRMS The Designer versin prvides the ptin t create, mdify, and use custm and ad hc reprts in Sage HRMS. Withut installing this additinal cmpnent, yu can still view and print standard reprts in Sage HRMS but yu cannt mdify them. T install SAP Crystal Reprts, visit the Knwledgebase ( and search fr article ID Fllw the steps in the article t dwnlad and install the prgram. Yu must have already used the Data Upsizing Wizard t upsize yur HR and Time Off data. Changing the data surce 1. Lg n t Sage HRMS. Yu must als lg n t Sage Abra Suite, because the data surce in the reprts yu are upgrading still references the ADA (Abra Data Access). 2. Frm the Sage HRMS Cnnected Services > Sage HRMS Tls menu, select Crystal Reprts t launch SAP Crystal Reprts. The Welcme t Crystal Reprts windw pens. 3. Open ne f yur custm reprts. 4. Frm the SAP Crystal Reprts main menu, select Database > Set Datasurce Lcatin. The Set Datasurce Lcatin windw pens. Nte: If Sage HRMS Data Access has been created under OLE DB (ADO), select Sage HRMS Data Access, and click Update. Repeat fr subreprts if needed. If a field name has changed, prceed t the Field Name Changes sectin f this dcument. 5. In the Replace With sectin, click the plus sign t expand Create New Cnnectin. 6. In the right bx, click nce t highlight the new field name. Fr example, if yur reprt uses desc, select desc in the left bx and fdesc in the right bx. 2. Click Map. 3. Preview the reprt. If yu receive a message stating that ne r mre database tables have changed, click OK. Checking fr empty dates In Sage HRMS, all date fields withut a specific date assigned are nw NULL. If yu have any reprts in which yu check fr an empty date in a selectin frmula using the EMPTY() functin, yu need t nw use the ISNULL() functin. 25 Appendix Verifying database cnnectins Use the Database Cnnectin Tl t: Verify an existing database cnnectin. Change existing infrmatin in rder t establish a cnnectin with a different server if yu mve yur Sage HRMS database. T use the Database Cnnectin Tl 1. Frm the Start menu n the server, select All Prgrams > Sage > Sage HRMS Server > Database Cnnectin Tl. 2. In the Database Cnnectin Tl windw, enter yur server name, user ID, and passwrd. Yu must prvide a SQL Server lgn that has been given administratr privileges. 3. Enter the names f yur Live Database and Sample Database, and if yu are using Payrll, the Payrll System Database and Payrll Sample Database. If yu are using Payrll, enter the User ID and Passwrd fr the payrll link. 4. Click Test Cnnectins t test fr valid cnnectins t the databases. If all cnnectins are successful, the test results display Successful." If yu receive a message that the cnnectins failed, verify yur entries are crrect. 5. Click OK t return t the Database Cnnectin Tl windw and click Save t establish yur database cnnectins. Re-registering Sage HRMS t add a mdule r ptin If yu have an existing Sage HRMS system and want t add anther mdule r ptin, simply re-register Sage HRMS. If yu are adding U.S. Payrll r Canadian Payrll yu must set up the payrll database. Fr mre infrmatin, refer t the Sage HRMS Payrll Getting Started Guide. Changing the serial number r installatin cde requires yu restart Sage HRMS. If yu are re-registering t add anther mdule, ptin, r link, enter yur new serial number and installatin cde. If yu want t add the Sage 100 Standard G/L, Sage 100 Advanced G/L, Sage 500 ERP G/L, r Sage X3 G/L, select the assciated check bxes. 4. Click OK t cmplete the registratin and clse Sage HRMS. A message prmpts yu t restart Sage HRMS. 5. Launch Sage HRMS and then lg n. The main menu and navigatin pane reflect the new ptins and mdules as registered.
