1 BID2WIN END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR LICENSED PRODUCTS. IMPORTANT-READ CAREFULLY: This BID2WIN End-User License Agreement ("EULA") tgether with the Prpsal and Sales Agreement (cllectively, the "Agreement") is a legal agreement between yu (either an individual r a single entity) and BID2WIN Sftware, Incrprated ("BID2WIN") fr the BID2WIN sftware prduct(s) identified abve which may include assciated sftware cmpnents, media, printed materials, and "nline" r electrnic dcumentatin ("LICENSED PRODUCT"). By installing, cpying, r therwise using the LICENSED PRODUCT, yu agree t be bund by the terms f this EULA. If yu d nt agree t the terms f this EULA, d nt install r use the LICENSED PRODUCT. If the LICENSED PRODUCT was purchased by yu, yu may return it t yur place f purchase fr a full refund. The LICENSED PRODUCT is prtected by cpyright laws and internatinal cpyright treaties, as well as ther intellectual prperty laws and treaties. The LICENSED PRODUCT is licensed, nt sld. 1. GRANT OF LICENSE. The LICENSED PRODUCT is licensed as fllws: Installatin and Use. BID2WIN grants yu the right t install and use cpies f the LICENSED PRODUCT n yur cmputers as described n the Prpsal and Sales Agreement. The license granted under the Agreement may nt be leased, assigned, r sublicensed including, but nt limited t the transfer f the LICENSED PRODUCTS t a successr in interest f Custmer's business. The license granted hereunder is slely fr the benefit f the Custmer as named n the Prpsal and Sales Agreement. Backup Cpies. Yu may als make cpies f the LICENSED PRODUCT as may be necessary fr backup and archival purpses. 2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS. Maintenance f Cpyright Ntices. Yu must nt remve r alter any cpyright ntices n all cpies f the LICENSED PRODUCT. Distributin. Yu may nt distribute cpies f the LICENSED PRODUCT t third parties. Prhibitin n Reverse Engineering, Decmpilatin, and Disassembly. Yu may nt reverse engineer, decmpile, r disassemble the LICENSED PRODUCT, except and nly t the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law ntwithstanding this limitatin. Tampering With Database. Yu may nt bypass the user interface t create r edit data directly within the SQL database. Ding s immediately vids yur BID2WIN Supprt Agreement. BID2WIN Sftware is nt respnsible fr repairing damage caused by tampering with prductin data in this fashin. Rental. Yu may nt rent, lease, r lend the LICENSED PRODUCT. Supprt Services. BID2WIN will prvide yu with Training and Supprt Services as set frth in the Training and Supprt Schedule t the Prpsal and Sales Agreement ("SUPPORT SERVICES"). Cmpliance with Applicable Laws. Yu must cmply with all applicable laws regarding use f the LICENSED PRODUCT. 3. TERMINATION. Withut prejudice t any ther rights, BID2WIN may terminate the Agreement if yu fail t cmply with the terms and cnditins cntained in the Agreement. In such event, custmer shall cease t have any rights in the LICENSED PRODUCTS r use theref. Custmer shall destry any and all cpies f the LICENSED PRODUCTS. 4. COPYRIGHT. All title, including but nt limited t cpyrights, in and t the LICENSED PRODUCT and any cpies theref are wned by BID2WIN r its suppliers. All title and intellectual prperty rights in and t the cntent which may be accessed thrugh use f the LICENSED PRODUCT is the prperty f the respective cntent wner and may be prtected by applicable cpyright r ther intellectual prperty laws and treaties. The Agreement grants yu n rights t use such cntent. All rights nt expressly granted are reserved by BID2WIN. (Cntinued)

2 5. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS. The LICENSED PRODUCT is prvided with RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplicatin, r disclsure by the Gvernment is subject t restrictins as set frth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) f the Rights in Technical Data and Cmputer Sftware clause at DFARS r subparagraphs (c)(1) and (2) f the Cmmercial Cmputer Sftware Restricted Rights at 48 CFR , as applicable. Manufacturer is BID2WIN Sftware, Incrprated/One New Hampshire Avenue/Suite 209/Prtsmuth, NH EXPORT RESTRICTIONS. Yu agree that yu will nt exprt r re-exprt the LICENSED PRODUCT t any cuntry, persn, entity r end user subject t U.S.A. exprt restrictins. Restricted cuntries currently include, but are nt necessarily limited t Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Nrth Krea, Sudan, and Syria. Yu warrant and represent that neither the U.S.A. Bureau f Exprt Administratin nr any ther federal agency has suspended, revked r denied yur exprt privileges. 7. LIMITED WARRANTY. Fr a perid f thirty (30) days after delivery f the LICENSED PRODUCTS, BID2WIN warrants and represents that the LICENSED PRODUCTS will perate and perfrm substantially in cnfrmance with the requirements and specificatins set frth in the Prduct Specificatins and Pricing Schedule t the Prpsal and Sales Agreement. During the term f this Limited Warranty, BID2WIN will investigate issues reprted by Custmer in writing in the then current versin f the LICENSED PRODUCTS. 8. WARRANTIES. ASIDE FROM THE EXPRESS WARRANTIES SET FORTH IN SECTION 7 ABOVE, THERE IS NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. BID2WIN DOES NOT WARRANT THE RESULTS OF ANY PROGRAMS OR SERVICES, OR THAT THE LICENSED PRODUCTS WILL MEET CUSTOMER'S REQUIREMENTS OR EXPECTATIONS. 9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. T the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in n event shall BID2WIN r its suppliers be liable fr any special, incidental, indirect, r cnsequential damages whatsever (including, withut limitatin, damages fr lss f business prfits, business interruptin, lss f business infrmatin, r any ther pecuniary lss) arising ut f the use f r inability t use the LICENSED PRODUCT r the prvisin f r failure t prvide Supprt Services, even if BID2WIN has been advised f the pssibility f such damages. In any case, BID2WIN's entire liability under any prvisin f the Agreement shall be limited t the amunt actually paid by yu fr the LICENSED PRODUCT; Because sme states and jurisdictins d nt allw the exclusin r limitatin f liability, the abve limitatin may nt apply t yu. 10. GOVERNING LAW. This agreement is made under, and shall be gverned by, the laws f the State f New Hampshire, U.S.A. Any claim, dispute, actin, r prceeding arising under this agreement shall be maintained nly in a state r federal curt lcated in the State f New Hampshire, and yu agree t such gverning law and venue fr all purpses. 11. SEVERABILITY. If any prvisin f the Agreement is held invalid r therwise unenfrceable, the enfrceability f the remaining prvisins shall nt be impaired thereby. Understanding these cmpnents and knwing where each resides helps t ensure a smth implementatin. System Cmpnents Every BID2WIN implementatin cnsists f the fllwing five system cmpnents: Database server License pl BID2WIN database Client sftware Administratin sftware On a single-user wrkstatin r in a terminal server envirnment, all five cmpnents reside n ne cmputer. In a client/server envirnment, all five cmpnents reside n yur dedicated BID2WIN server, but the client sftware and administrative sftware are als installed n netwrk wrkstatins. Nte: If yu install BID2WIN n a server with Windws Terminal Services capabilities, yur wrkstatins that cnnect t the BID2WIN database thrugh a LAN may still d s in a traditinal client/server fashin. In this case, BID2WIN wuld be installed n thse wrkstatins as Netwrk Wrkstatins, which means that the client sftware and administrative sftware wuld als reside n the wrkstatins. Database Server The database server is an instance f Micrsft SQL Server 2005/2008 that stres and manages ne r mre BID2WIN databases. Depending n yur installatin envirnment, the

12 4 BID2WIN Installatin Guide database server may reside n a dedicated netwrk server, r may simply be a SQL Server Express instance n an individual wrkstatin. License Pl The license pl resides n the database server and cntains a number f cncurrent licenses that allw access t BID2WIN by the client sftware. After yu have installed BID2WIN, yu will activate yur license pl fr the number f BID2WIN licenses purchased by yur cmpany. When an estimatr launches BID2WIN, ne license frm the license pl becmes in use. When that estimatr clses their BID2WIN prgram windw, the license becmes available. Nte: Using the BID2WIN Administratin tl des nt cnsume a license. BID2WIN Database The BID2WIN database resides n the database server and cntains the fllwing infrmatin: BID2WIN user accunts. A user accunt is created fr each estimatr r manager wh requires access t the system. Resurces. Resurces cnsist f cst-related infrmatin such as labr, equipment, and materials, as well as ther infrmatin such as subcntractrs, vendrs, and custmers. Item templates. Item templates allw estimatrs t cnfigure the cst structure f bid items fr subsequent use while creating estimates. Item templates are cntained in what is referred t in the client applicatin as item databases. Estimates. All estimates created in the system reside in the BID2WIN database. During the installatin prcess, the BID2WIN setup prgram installs tw unique BID2WIN databases n yur database server: B2WData. This is an empty database intended fr yur cmpany-specific users, resurces, item templates, and estimates. B2WSample. This database cntains a cmplete set f sample users, resurces, item templates, and estimates. The BID2WIN Getting Started Guide uses this sample data as a basis fr walking estimatrs thrugh the system. It prvides a gd reference as yur estimatrs get up t speed with the real cmpanyspecific database. Cmpanies wh purchase BID2WIN Enterprise Editin have the ptin f creating additinal BID2WIN databases at any time. This is typically useful fr larger cmpanies with several

The prcess f creating and administering multiple BID2WIN databases is discussed in Chapter 5 - Cnfiguring Multiple BID2WIN Databases. Client Sftware The BID2WIN client sftware allws the creatin and editing f resurces, item templates, and estimates. In a traditinal client/server envirnment, the client sftware is installed n yur estimatr wrkstatins. The client cmputer runs the BID2WIN client sftware, but saves and retrieves data t and frm the BID2WIN database n the database server. Administratin Sftware The BID2WIN Administratin sftware allws a system administratr t manage the BID2WIN installatin, including the cnfiguratin f BID2WIN users and grups, as well as system extensins called add-ins. The administratin sftware is installed with every installatin type, allwing the administratin f the system frm any server r wrkstatin, as lng as the administratr passwrd is knwn.

14 6 BID2WIN Installatin Guide Cnfiguratin Optins Stand-Alne There are three different ways BID2WIN may be cnfigured. In a stand-alne cnfiguratin, all five system cmpnents (database server, license pl, BID2WIN databases, client sftware, and administratin sftware) reside n a single cmputer. N infrmatin is shared, and n netwrking capabilities are required. This type f installatin is typically nly recmmended fr very small cmpanies with nly ne estimatr. The single-user wrkstatin: Client/Server A client/server envirnment, as the name implies, cnsists f a dedicated netwrk server and ne r mre client wrkstatins. In this envirnment the database server, the license pl, and the BID2WIN database all reside n the dedicated netwrk server. (Fr cnvenience, instances f the BID2WIN Administratin tl and the client sftware als reside n the server.) The client sftware is installed n each estimatr wrkstatin, which simply cnnects t the dedicated server fr the ther cmpnents. The bvius advantage f the client/server envirnment is that all estimatrs share a central BID2WIN database. Frm an administratr s standpint, a central database is easy t maintain and back-up. Frm a manager s standpint, a central database leads t great cnsistency frm ne estimatr t anther, and in the lng run, a vast array f crss-estimate reprting capabilities.

15 Chapter 1 Technical Overview 7 Fr these reasns, the client/server envirnment is the recmmended installatin envirnment fr the vast majrity f BID2WIN users. The client/server envirnment: Windws Terminal Services / Citrix Having Windws Terminal Services r Citrix installed n yur dedicated BID2WIN database server ften prvides a very efficient way fr estimatrs t remtely cnnect t their database server via WAN r dial up cnnectin. The terminal services ptin gives estimatrs the ability t cnnect remtely t the database server, even when away frm the ffice. As lng as an estimatr has Internet cnnectivity and a minimum cnnectin speed f 56kbps, they may use BID2WIN as thugh they were at their wn desks. They simply access BID2WIN using the Remte Desktp Cnnectin sftware, which is smewhat analgus t the idea f turning n a new mnitr that simply shws what s happening n the terminal server. Nte that a terminal server is nt a requirement and is typically best utilized in cnjunctin with a traditinal client/server installatin. In ther wrds, when an estimatr uses BID2WIN

16 8 BID2WIN Installatin Guide at the ffice, he wuld d s within a traditinal client/server envirnment. If the estimatr needs t cnnect t the BID2WIN server frm a remte lcatin, via WAN r mdem, he wuld utilize the Remte Desktp Cnnectin sftware t access the system. The Terminal Services Envirnment:

17 Chapter 1 Technical Overview 9 Mbile Estimating BID2WIN Mbile Estimating allws an estimatr t quickly and easily take estimates with him n his ntebk cmputer and wrk n them while discnnected frm the BID2WIN server. When he returns, he may seamlessly transfer the new r mdified estimates back t the BID2WIN server. BID2WIN Mbile Estimating can als be used in an envirnment where the cnnectin t the BID2WIN server is nt reliable, fr example in a jb trailer r remte ffice with slw r intermittent Internet cnnectivity. A temprary cnnectin can be established t the BID2WIN server, estimates can be transferred t the remte cmputer, and wrk can prceed while discnnected. Changes t the estimate may be transferred back t the main BID2WIN server at any time by re-establishing the temprary cnnectin. Mbile Estimating is included with the Prfessinal and Enterprise editins f BID2WIN. T use Mbile Estimating, BID2WIN must be cnfigured in a client/server envirnment, as described earlier in this chapter. It is pssible t have a Terminal Services r Citrix envirnment cnfigured fr nn-mbile users and a client/server envirnment cnfigured fr mbile users. Fr mre infrmatin abut this ptin, cnsult yur BID2WIN Implementatin Services specialist. Lcal database n mbile client wrkstatin. Each mbile ntebk wrkstatin must have a lcal database t hld resurces, item database, and estimate infrmatin fr use when discnnected. The BID2WIN client sftware installatin autmatically installs a lcal SQL Server 2005 Express database n the mbile wrkstatin if yu select the Enable mbile estimating n this cmputer ptin during setup. Nte: In rder t use Mbile Estimating, a mbile user must be a member f the lcal Administratrs r the lcal Pwer Users grup n the mbile wrkstatin. If the user is a member f the lcal Pwer Users grup, the database service n the mbile wrkstatin will need t be cnfigured with a startup type f Autmatic. Otherwise, the user will nt be allwed t discnnect frm the server. The Installing BID2WIN n a Netwrk Client Wrkstatin sectin in Chapter 3 describes the cnfiguratin f Mbile Estimating n the netwrk client wrkstatin.

19 11 C h a p t e r 2 Preparing t Install BID2WIN Befre yu begin the installatin f BID2WIN, please review the fllwing hardware and sftware requirements. Yu must als decide which database server ptin is best fr yur cmpany. Step 1: Verify Hardware and Operating System Requirements The first step is t verify that yur server and wrkstatins have the apprpriate hardware cnfiguratin and perating system. Netwrk Server BID2WIN requires a dedicated netwrk server, unless it is being installed n ne cmputer fr use by a single estimatr. There are several reasns fr this: If yu install BID2WIN n an existing server that is running ther applicatins, such as an accunting sftware package, BID2WIN s perfrmance may suffer because f the lad being put n the server by the accunting applicatin. If yu install BID2WIN n a server that is being used by ther departments t stre files r fr ther uses, there may be demands placed n the server that will degrade BID2WIN s perfrmance. Over time, there will be quite a bit f estimate data stred n the server. If the server is being used fr ther purpses, yu may run int disk space issues. A fast server running nly BID2WIN will result in exceptinal perfrmance and reliability. Outlined belw are several sample server cnfiguratins. These are minimum requirements. If the server has mre pwer, then the perfrmance f BID2WIN will be even better.

20 12 BID2WIN Installatin Guide Server Operating Systems The fllwing server perating systems are supprted by BID2WIN. A client access license is required fr each user wh will cnnect t the server. Fr example, t supprt a 10-user installatin f BID2WIN, 10 client access licenses wuld be required. It may be installed n cmputers with mre than 1GB f RAM and mre than 1 prcessr, but it will nt take advantage f the additinal cmputing hrsepwer. In practice, this limitatin shuld allw up t ten BID2WIN estimatrs t use the prduct simultaneusly, assuming estimates f typical size. In the case f very large estimates, purchasing a full versin f SQL Server is still recmmended fr best perfrmance. Express versins f SQL server are als limited t a 4 GB maximum database size. Micrsft SQL Server 2005/2008 The full versin f Micrsft SQL Server basts a maximum database size f several terabytes, which will handle a virtually unlimited number f estimates fr mst cmpanies. 31 23 C h a p t e r 4 Cnfiguring Yur BID2WIN Installatin In the BID2WIN Administratin tl yu will find an assrtment f utilities which help yu put the finishing tuches n yur installatin. In this sectin, yu will learn hw t use this tl t activate yur BID2WIN licenses, set yur administratr passwrd, install add-ins, and cnfigure grup and user accunts fr emplyees wh will access BID2WIN. Launching the BID2WIN Administratin Tl Yu may access the BID2WIN Administratin tl frm any cmputer n which the BID2WIN client sftware is installed, including the dedicated netwrk server. T launch the BID2WIN Administratin tl, fllw these steps: 1. Click Start, pint t Prgrams, then pint t BID2WIN. 2. In the BID2WIN prgram grup, click BID2WIN Administratin. Activating BID2WIN The first time yu launch the BID2WIN Administratin tl, yu will be prmpted fr a cde that activates yur BID2WIN licenses. This cde is btained by calling BID2WIN Technical Supprt. The activatin cde yu are given will activate yur license pl fr the number f BID2WIN licenses yur cmpany has purchased.

This means that the client sftware may be installed n any number f wrkstatins, but nly the number f users that were purchased will be accessible at any given time. Changing the Administratr Passwrd When BID2WIN is first installed, the administratr passwrd is blank, allwing any user t access the BID2WIN Administratin tl. Fr security, it is recmmended that yu set an administratr passwrd immediately and that yu change the passwrd regularly. Nte: If yur cmpany utilizes multiple BID2WIN databases, each database needs t be cnfigured with an administratr passwrd.

33 Chapter 4 Cnfiguring Yur BID2WIN Installatin 25 T set an administratr passwrd, r change the existing ne, fllw these steps: 1. In the BID2WIN Administratin tl, click the Tls menu, pint t Security, and then click Change Administratr Passwrd. 2. The Change Passwrd dialg appears. Enter the ld administratr passwrd. Leave this field blank if yu are setting the administratr passwrd fr the first time. 3. Enter the new administratr passwrd. Write this passwrd dwn and keep it smewhere safe. BID2WIN Technical Supprt persnnel cannt retrieve yur administratr passwrd if yu frget it. 4. Enter the new passwrd again fr cnfirmatin. 5. Click OK. Once yu have set an administratr passwrd, the Lgn dialg will appear any time a user tries t access the BID2WIN Administratin tl. The user must enter the crrect administratr passwrd t pen the BID2WIN Administratin tl. The Administratin Tl Lgn dialg: Managing Add-Ins The BID2WIN Administratin tl includes an Add-Ins Manager. This allws yu t install, update, and manage system extensins that prvide additinal functinality fr yur estimatrs.

Each f these add-ins gives yur estimatrs access t a list f pay items frm a specific state. A unique DOT database will appear in the Item Databases area f BID2WIN. Estimate Detail Exprts These ptinal add-ins prvide yur estimatr the ability t send detailed estimate cst infrmatin t a file which may be imprted by yur accunting r prject management sftware. Pay Item Imprt/Exprts This type f add-in allws yur estimatrs the ptin t imprt and exprt pay item lists t and frm external frmats, such as Micrsft Excel r AASHTO Expedite EBS. Authrity Bid Frms - BID2WIN's Authrity Bid Frms allw yu t print apprved bid frms fr submittal t gvernment authrities. Reprts There are many standard BID2WIN reprts that are autmatically added during the BID2WIN client sftware installatin. Additinal custm reprts are available by request at an additinal cst. In additin, new reprts are released peridically n the BID2WIN supprt Web site. The Add-Ins Manager is used t add these new r updated reprts t the system. T access the Add-Ins Manager, simply click Manage Add-Ins in the left hand pane f the BID2WIN Administratin tl, r click the Tls menu, then select Add-Ins

Yu may als cnfigure each grup with a unique set f permissins, allwing yu t cntrl the ability fr users within the grup t create, mdify, and edit infrmatin in varius parts f the BID2WIN estimating applicatin. Key pints t remember: Yu may create a virtually unlimited number f users and grups. A user may exist in ne and nly ne grup. Nte: If yu are administering multiple BID2WIN databases, each has its wn unique set f users and grups. If an estimatr needs t access multiple BID2WIN databases, yu must create a user accunt fr that estimatr inside each BID2WIN database. Multiple databases are further discussed in Chapter 5 - Cnfiguring Multiple BID2WIN Databases. T access the User & Grup Manager, simply click Manage Users & Grups in the left hand pane f the BID2WIN Administratin tl, r click the Tls menu, then pint t Security, then select Users & Grups.

Delete an existing grup 1. In the User & Grup Manager dialg, select the grup yu wish t delete. When yu delete a grup, all users within that grup are als deleted. 2. Using individual user accunts, as ppsed t a generic passwrd-prtectin scheme t cntrl access t the prgram, has several advantages in BID2WIN: If an estimatr leaves the cmpany, their user accunt can be deleted withut affecting ther users. A user accunt may easily be mved frm ne grup t anther. Individual user accunts allw BID2WIN t recrd which estimatr created r last mdified each resurce r item template. When yu select a user n the left hand side f the User and Grup Manager, infrmatin pertaining t that user is displayed n the right. Create a new user 1. In the User & Grup Manager dialg, click the grup where the new user will be member. 2. Click New User. 3. Enter a User name. This name is used when the user lgs n t BID2WIN. 4. Enter the user s Initials. Initials may cnsist f 1 t 5 characters and will be used t tag resurce recrds and cmments. BID2WIN frces yur entry t uppercase as yu type. 5. Click OK. 6. The user accunt is created and the User Infrmatin page is displayed. Yu may nw enter additinal user infrmatin, as described in the next sectin. Cnfiguring user infrmatin When yu select a user in the left hand pane f the Users & Grups Manager, the User Infrmatin page is displayed. Yu may nw enter additinal user infrmatin, as described belw: Field User name Initials Descriptin A read nly field which displays the user name f the selected user. Initials f the selected user. By entering a Windws dmain accunt, the user will be authenticated autmatically if lgged int Windws under the specified accunt, even if this user accunt has a passwrd. Enter the Windws accunt in the frmat <dmain name>\<user name>. Fr example: ESTIMATING_DOMAIN\MWILLIAMS Fr security purpses, it is strngly recmmended t assign a nnblank BID2WIN passwrd even when authenticating t a Windws accunt. (The BID2WIN passwrd des NOT need t be the same as the Windws passwrd.) The passwrd assigned t the selected user. Fr security purpses, the system will always display dts in this field when yu view user infrmatin, even if the user s passwrd is blank. Yu may reset a user's passwrd by entering a new value here, withut knwing the user's current passwrd. Enter a passwrd t frce a user t lg n each time they start the estimating client sftware. BID2WIN stres the last-entered user name n each cmputer. If the last-entered user name des nt have a passwrd assigned, r if the system can authenticate the user using the specified Windws dmain accunt, the user will be lgged in withut the display f the lgn dialg. Cnfirm Passwrd T set a new passwrd, re-enter the passwrd in this field. Full name Title Cmpany name Phne address The user's full name. Cnfiguring BID2WIN Security and Permissins Assigned at the grup level, permissins specify what grup members can r cannt d within specific areas in BID2WIN, such as Resurces, Item Databases, r the Optins dialg. Fr example, a managerial grup may use BID2WIN t review estimates that thers have created, s they wuld nt need full permissins t the Resurce area. Or, yu may have a grup f estimatrs with permissins t create crew templates and task templates, but n permissins t create r mdify labr and equipment csts. By allwing yu t assign restrictive rights t sme grups and less restrictive rights t ther grups, BID2WIN prtects yur data frm accidental deletin r alteratin. The Grup Infrmatin tab The Grup name field is a read nly field which displays the name f the current BID2WIN user. The Resurce Security tab The Resurces area in BID2WIN cntains labr, equipment, materials, and ther types f cst resurces that may be added t estimates. By cnfiguring resurces security fr each grup, yu can specify whether r nt grup members can create, mdify, r delete individual resurces. Permissins may be defined fr all resurce types, r yu may specify permissins n a perresurce type basis. Fr example, yu may allw a certain user t create custmers and vendrs, but he r she may nt create new labr r equipment recrds.

47 39 C h a p t e r 5 Cnfiguring Multiple BID2WIN Databases (Enterprise Editin Only) Sme cmpanies, typically thse that have several divisins r reginal ffices, need mre than ne BID2WIN database. Each BID2WIN database has its wn resurces, item templates, estimates, and a unique set f users and grups. When yu first install BID2WIN, the Setup prgram installs tw unique BID2WIN databases n yur database server: B2WSample is a database that is pre-ppulated with sample users, resurces, item templates, and estimates frm varius cnstructin industries. B2WData is a blank database, inside f which yu may begin building yur wn cmpany s resurce and estimate data. Nte: The ptin t create new BID2WIN databases is nly available in the Enterprise Editin f BID2WIN. Cnsideratins fr Managing Multiple BID2WIN Databases Shared License Pl The BID2WIN license pl is shared by all BID2WIN databases n yur database server. Licenses are available n a first-cme, first-served basis. If yur license pl has been activated fr 10 users, and 8 estimatrs are currently lgged in t ne BID2WIN database, then 2 mre users may cnnect t ther BID2WIN databases at that time. Later in the day, if nly 6 estimatrs are lgged in, then 4 mre users culd cnnect, and s n. Simply stated, if yur cmpany has multiple divisins that share a database server, but thse divisins require unique BID2WIN databases, users frm all divisins utilize licenses frm the

Unique Users and Grups Each BID2WIN database has a unique set f users and grups assciated with it. This means that if an estimatr r manager needs t access mre than ne BID2WIN database, they will need t have a user accunt created inside each BID2WIN database t which they need t cnnect. Multiple BID2WIN Databases: Creating Additinal Databases Additinal BID2WIN databases may be created thrugh the BID2WIN Setup utility.

T launch the BID2WIN Setup utility, d any ne f the fllwing: Launch the self-extracting installatin file yu dwnladed frm the supprt Web site Run Setup.exe frm the rt f the BID2WIN Installatin CD. In yur Windws Cntrl Panel, g t Add-Remve Prgrams, select BID2WIN, and then click Change. 3. The Setup utility appears in maintenance mde, as shwn belw. Click Install New Database. 4. The Install Additinal Databases page appears, as shwn n the next page. Verify the Server where the new BID2WIN database is t be created, then enter a unique name fr yur new BID2WIN database. Click Create.

Nte: As yur new BID2WIN databases will nt have any user accunts, yu will need t use the BID2WIN Administratin tl t lg in t each new database, as described in the fllwing sectins, and then set its administratr passwrd and create and cnfigure the apprpriate user accunts as described in Chapter 4 - Cnfiguring Yur BID2WIN Installatin. Administering Different Databases Each BID2WIN database must be administered separately. Fr example, if yur cmpany has tw divisins that cnnect t unique BID2WIN databases, and each divisin needs t utilize the Micrsft Excel Pay Item Imprt/Exprt add in, yu will need t install the add-in twice nce fr each BID2WIN database.
