COBie is mandated by Government It was (is) a relatively new concept to most of the industry Early work had been very manual Contractors were leading the push for collaborative BIM this included COBie - hence the need to involve contractors COBie incorporates inputs from a wide range of stakeholders hence the need for open standards COBie is a sub-set of IFC hence the logic of focusing on IFC THE WAY WE EXPLOIT DATA IS CHANGING

9 WHAT? 2012 Concept trial Trial Objectives To validate and check the suitability of an IFC file for the generation of a COBie data drop. To validate and check the generation of the corresponding COBie datasets from the IFC file. To uncover any issues with the use of IFC for COBie in real business environments.
