ES II Set 1 Date: 20 th July 2018 Class XII Sec. Time: 1 1/2 Hrs. Informatics Practices answer key M.M.: 35 Name Roll No. Instruction: a) Attempt all questions neatly. b) All Parts of the same question to be attempted together. 1. (a) A table book has 10 rows and 16 columns. Another table author has 10 rows and 20 columns.what will be the degree and cardinality of the cartesian product of the 2 tables. 1 cardinality 100 degree - 36 (b) Is NULL and 0(zero) same?jusify your answer. 1 No, it s not the same as null means a value that is unavailable, unassigned or unknown and zero is a defined value. (c) Explain COMMIT, SAVEPOINT with example 2 COMMITthis statement is used to end a transaction and make all changes permanent. Until a transaction is committed, other users cannot see the changes made to the database. SAVEPOINT- It is point in a transaction, up till which all changes have been saved permanently. d) What is Foreign Key? Create a foreign key and explain 2 Foreign Key: It is a column of a table which is the primary key of another table in the same database. It is used to enforce referential integrity of the data. Create table dept ( Deptnumb int(2) PRIMARY KEY, Deptname varchar(10) ); Create table emp ( Empno int(5) PRIMARY KEY, Empname varchar(30), Deptno int(2), Sal decimal(7,2), foreign key deptno references dept(deptnumb) ); XII / IP Page 1 of 5

2 a) Give the output of the following program 1 i) System.out.println( XII A ); System.out.print( XIIB ); System.out.println( XIIC ); XIIA XIIBXIIC_ b) Identify the error. 1 int a; switch(code) case 10.5: a=10.5; case 20.5: a=20.5; int a; switch(code) case 10.5: a=10.5; case 20.5: a=20.5; cannot accept float values. c) Differentiate between list and combo box swing control 2 List:A list is used to get one or more options out of several given options which may or may not be mutually exclusive. This may seem to be the case wherecheckboxes are to be used, but the difference is in the number of options available. If the number of options is small, then CheckBoxes can be used. In case of large number of options, using CheckBoxes may take up a lot of spaceon the form and it may also be inconvenient for t he user to select the desiredoptions. In such cases Lists are preferred over checkboxes. Examples of such cases are: To select cities out of a given list of cities, to select magazines out of a given list of magazines, etc. ComboBox: A ComboBox is used to get an option out of several given options which are mutually exclusive. This may seem to be the case where RadioButtons are to beused, but the difference is in the number of options available. If the number ofoptions is small, then RadioButtons can be used. In case of large number ofoptions, using RadioButton s may take up a lot of space on the form and it may also be inconvenient for the user to select the desired option. In such casescomboboxes are preferred over radio buttons. Examples of such cases are: To select a city out of a given list of cities, to select a train out of a given list of trains, etc. d) Convert into switch case 2 XII / IP Page 2 of 5

if code== A grade= A ; else if code == B grade = B else grade= C ; char grade; switch(grade) case A: grade= A ; break; case B : grade= B ; break; default: grade= C ; e) Give the command to 2 a. Exit an application System.exit(0); b. To clear the textfield t1 t1.settext( ); 3. Consider the tables SURGEON and PATIENT given below: SURGEON sur_id Name Department OPD_Days 101 Smita ENT TTS 102 Chelsea Pediatric MWF 201 Sakshi Ortho MWF PATIENTS PATIENT Pat_No Pat_Name Department sur_id 1 Neeraj ENT Mohit Ortho Rahul ENT Vivek Ortho 201 With reference of these tables, write commands in SQL for (i) and (ii) and ANSWER THE (iii): (i) Display the Patno, PatName and corresponding surgeon Name for each patient. 2 Select patno, patname, name from sur_id,patients where surgeon.sur_id=patient. sur_id; (ii) Display the name of all patients whose OPD days are TTS. 2 Select patname from surgeon, patient where surgeon.sur_id=patient. sur_id and opd_days = TTS ; XII / IP Page 3 of 5

(iii) NAME THE primary key of surgeon and patient table. name the foreign key too. Can the user enter 104 as sur_id in patient table. If not why? 2 Primary key =sur_id and Pat_no foreign key = sur_id in patient table. no because it is violating the referential integrity rule. 4. a) Write SQL query to create a table Job with the following structure: 2 Table : Job fieldname datatype size Constraint J_Code Integer 6 Primary key J_Description varchar 25 Not null J_Chg_Hr integer 30 Default 20 J_Lastdt date Create table Job (J_Code Integer(6) Primary key, J_Description Varchar(25) Not Null, J_Chg_Hr Integer (30) default 20, J_Lastdate Date); b) Name the SQL single row function to do the following 2 (i) returns a number (ii) returns uppercase letters round(),truncate() or any other Upper() or Ucase() c) Consider the table Employee given below. 6 ES II Set 1I Date: 20 th July 2018 Class XII Sec. Time: 1 1/2 Hrs. Informatics Practices Answer key M.M.: 35 Name Roll No. Instruction: a) Attempt all questions neatly. b) All Parts of the same question to be attempted together. 1. a) A table doctor has 20 rows and 10 columns. Another table patient has 10 rows and 20 columns.what will be the degree and cardinality of the cartesian product of the 2 tables. 1 cardinality 200 degree - 30 b) Give the command to add a new column Gender of char type width 1, in an already existing table CUSTOMERS. 1 ALTER TABLE CUSTOMERS ADD GENDER CHAR; c) Explain why the following queries give different outputs on execution although they are operating on the same table? 2 (i) SELECT COUNT(ENAME) FROM EMP; Output: 5 (ii) SELECT Count(*) FROM EMP; Output: 8 Ans -Aggregate functions ignore NULL values. The first query counts the Not Null values in the column ENAME hence the output is 5. But the second query counts all the records present in the table EMP which gives the output as 8. Hence this implies that there are 8 rows in the table and the Ename column contains the name of only 5 employees. 8-5 = 3, i.e. 3 names have been left blank. This means that there are 3 null values in the column ENAME. d) What is Foreign Key? Create a foreign key and explain 2 Foreign Key: It is a column of a table which is the primary key of another table in the same database. It is used to enforce referential integrity of the data. Create table dept ( Deptnumb int(2) PRIMARY KEY, Deptname varchar(10) ); XII / IP Page 1 of 6

For example: int num1, Num1; Although both variable have same name in the above statement but java will treat them two different variables due to first character in different case. XII / IP Page 2 of 6

e) Rewrite the following code using if else if statement instead of switch : 2 switch (success) case -1: x1 = " result not declared" ; break; case 0: x1 = "Not successful"; break; default: x1 = "result NOT known"; break; if (success == -1) x1= result not declared ; else if (success == 0) x1= Not successful ; else x1= result NOT known ; f) Give the command to 2 (i) Make the label lbl1 uneditable lb1.seteditable(false); (ii) Disable the button btn1 btn1.setenabled(false); 3.
