19 Performance and Scalability Ongoing Testing We have tested several E-Business Suite workloads on Exadata to develop our tuning best practices, including: Workloads from Oracle s 18 TB internal E-Business Suite Implementation, known as Global Single Instance (GSI) Workloads from Oracle s E-Business Suite benchmark (OASB), namely: Order to Cash Payroll Online Our findings are documented in a technical white paper See We continue to test and tune and update the paper regularly 19

As a member of the Capgemini Group, one of the world s largest consulting services companies, we are able to provide you with the most extensive, reliable and efficient solutions. CHALLENGES/OPPORTUNITIES 1. Sogeti uses Oracle e-business Suite to support its endto-end business processes, including financials, human resources, project resource management, and project accounting for 3,000 users. 2. All Reports and batch jobs are run nightly to avoid daytime contention, and month-end billing cycles prevent other access. 3. A significant amount of time is spent fighting fires, running ad-hoc queries against large data sets and optimizing queries which have short shelf life SOLUTION Exadata V2 Half-Rack Database Machine CUSTOMER PERSPECTIVE The bottom line is the conversion from Solaris to Linux and non-rac to RAC was very painless. Because of the performance Exadata provides, we were able to eliminate most of our batch processes and run them on demand whenever we wanted. RESULTS Reporting is all online batch reporting has been eliminated. Weekly 4 hour tape backups are done nightly in 4 minutes to disk. Real-time reports on critical KPIs are now available. Month-end billing no longer blocks other access. 28
