Students will demonstrate an understanding of the rules when using an NBISD computer. 3A Students will not copy the electronic work of another individual. 3B Students will not copy or use software for which they do not have a license. 3B Students will learn to cite their sources. 3A, 3B Networking Connect and disconnect from server. Basic Operations Create, open, name, and save files to a folder on the server using Save and Save As. Access files from the server. Differentiate between saving on the server, to the documents folder, and on the desktop. Select and Print to the appropriate printer. Understand the difference between quitting and closing a program. 2 Keyboarding Understand and properly use Save and Save As. Save As Allows the destination, file name, and file type to be chosen. Save Saves file using existing location, file name, and file type. Use the Undo feature to recover previous work (i.e.: Recover typed words, unpaste, unformat, etc.). Take pictures using the digital camera and upload them to a computer. Use the laptop focusing on the use of the touchpad as a mouse. Delete files or documents from the hard drive or desktop. Use the Print Preview feature available in most programs to view files for proper format prior to printing Use correct posture when keyboarding and demonstrate mastery of proper keyboarding technique. Demonstrate correct use of the space bar and Return/Enter key. Use specialized computer keys such as Shift, Esc, and Ctrl. Key word lists and sentences using correct posture and proper keyboarding technique. Use language skills including capitalization, punctuation, spelling, word division, and the use of numbers and symbols as grade levelappropriate. Clink on a link to view web site and activate audio files, image files, and video clips. Use the Back, Forward, and Home buttons to navigate on the web. Use keyword searches to find information on a given topic. Evaluate the effectiveness of search strategies. Determine whether web sites provide useful and appropriate information. Use the web to tour virtual environments, remote locations, and/or explore online interactive lessons. Communicate with other learners or experts in the filed through tools such as , interactive websites, and/or video conferencing. Presentation Software Name and save movies in the appropriate format to a designated folder. Arrange clips in the correct order in the timeline. Add transitions and a title to the movie. Create charts/graphs as grade level and task appropriate to express ideas and solve problems. Enter data into the database fields to complete the record. Navigate from field to field within the database. Create a new record. Use the eraser tool to delete painted test or illustrations. Use Undo to undo the last action. Proofread and correct errors in the text. Create a slide show. Preview a work-in-progress to evaluate for presentation. Print and share final product. Create a new diagram or open an existing diagram template. Add topics that expand or explain the main idea by selecting the Main Idea symbol, Use the Rapid Fire tool to insert text/ideas into a diagram. 7 Resize text boxes and idea bubbles Compile notes and ideas into outlines. Insert symbols or pictures into diagram. Add new links to connect objects within a diagram. Navigate through the contents of various libraries to view symbols. Use Spell Check to edit diagrams. Save document. Publish Communication Display work on the computer screen, projector, television, or printer. Proofread products and make improvements. Use tools such as checklists, timelines, and rubrics to evaluate products and determine relevancy to task and specific lesson objectives.
