General Installation Information Figure 2-1 displays an example of a setup for MusicTel-Net: LAN TCP/IP 600 Ω output 8 Ω output PBX Remote PC Audio equipment Figure 2-1: MusicTel-Net Remote Maintenance The MusicTel-Net environment is based on two components: The MusicTel-Net unit The Music-Net application. Music-Net is an administration application for setting the MusicTel-Net parameters. After installation you can remotely configure and update the unit. The MusicTel-Net unit is linked to the PBX and performs its Music on Hold function. You can update the unit using Music-Net utility program. Before the remote setup can work, MusicTel-Net should be initialized locally. You can perform the initial installation process by linking a PC and MusicTel- Net locally via the RS-232 connection (as described in Chapter 1). Music-Net application uses the TCP protocol and port is used for the datatransfer between the Music-Net utility program and MusicTel-Net unit. MusicTel-Net/Net+ Installation and Operation Manual 2-2

14 Installation 2.3. Installation Instructions During the initial installation process, MusicTel-Net should be defined in Network Settings and the Communication Selection window of the Music-Net program. You should enter the MusicTel-Net IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway IP address in the Network Settings window (all provided by your local network administrator). When using a PC for connecting to MusicTel-Net, the specified IP address is sufficient for local or remote finding of MusicTel-Net. Install MusicTel-Net according to the following instructions: 1. Unpack MusicTel-Net device. 2. Set the unit IP address to enable installation of MusicTel-Net as described above. 3. Install the Music-Net utility program on the PC. To install the Music-Net utility program on the PC: 1. Insert the CD in the Drive (Auto-Play CD). 2. Run the Music-Net utility installation program (SETUP.EXE). 3. Connect MusicTel-Net via its RS-232 socket to the COM port of the PC. 4. Connect the Power Supply to MusicTel-Net. 5. Run the Music-Net program from Start/Programs/Music-Net. 6. When Communication Selection screen appears (Figure 2-2), select the Com Port radio button and select relevant Com port for the local connection (make sure that you have chosen the correct COM port). Figure 2-2: Communication Selection Screen 7. Fill in the IP address information (IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway IP Address) and click on the Set IP Address button. A confirmation message appears (Figure 2-3). MusicTel-Net/Net+ Installation and Operation Manual 2-3

15 Installation Figure 2-3: Communication Selection Screen To continue working offline click Cancel. 8. Click on OK. Music-Net main screen will open. If MusicTel-Net device is not connected, PC application will start in offline mode. Now the IP Address has been set. Either continue with the maintenance via the RS-232 connection (locally) or disconnect the RS-232 connection and configure MusicTel-Net from a remote location (within the local domain or in a remote domain) via the Ethernet connection. When deciding to configure MusicTel-Net from a remote location via the Ethernet connection, the network cable should connected to the Ethernet socket on MusicTel-Net. When using a PC from a remote domain, you would access MusicTel-Net via the Internet. This connection is less secure than with a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection. 16 Music-Net Utility Program Chapter 3: Music-Net Utility Program 3.1. General The initial installation of the Music-Net utility program is described in Chapter 2. The Music-Net utility program and Help file have been added to a menu under the Start/Programs menu. This chapter describes the MusicTel-Net Utility Program, Music-Net MusicTel-Net Utility Program (Music-Net) The Music-Net is a user-friendly program, which helps you to configure the MusicTel-Net. The menu and buttons of the Music-Net main screen (Figure 3-1) are detailed in the following paragraphs. The Music-Net+ (MusicTel-Net+ Utility Program) is used for configuring and maintaining the MusicTel-Net+ device. When performing MP3 file configuration or uploading, make sure that the LAN cable is connected, otherwise maintenance can be performed via the RS-232. When changing the volume level or comments of an Audio file, the change will become active only after you have sent the information to the device via the LAN or RS-232 connection. When an MP3 file configuration is sent to the unit, the MP3 file changes will be executed when the currently running MP3 files have finished playing. Is this the case the updated MP3 files will replace the old ones and start working. The MusicTel-Net will delete a file only after its replacement has been received completely. A corrupted MP3 file will be deleted after 5 playing attempts. MusicTel-Net/Net+ Installation and Operation Manual 3-1
