2 How is a PDF created in MicroStation? PDF files are created through MicroStation s print facility 1. Select File>Print to open the Print dialog box. 2. In the Print dialog box, change the printer driver to pdf.pltcfg. 3. Select Print and choose a name and location for the PDF file Bentley Systems, Incorporated PDF Print Driver Configuration PLTCFGs are in XML markup format. 3 Markup_pdf.pltcfg Markup_pdf.pltcfg is a customized version of the delivered PDF printer driver configuration file. It s used by the Markups dialog when creating PDF files. Resolution, Raster Quality, and other settings are optimized for the Markup workflow. 5 Geospatial PDFs from MicroStation DGN must have valid Geographic Coordinate System defined. User-defined GCS s may not be recognized. Reproject to a delivered GCS if needed. Enable Georeferencing must be enabled in the pltcfg Bentley Systems, Incorporated Reference a PDF Attach via Raster Manager Supports clipping, masking, transparency, georeferencing, etc. Change pages via right click menu in Raster Manager Bentley Systems, Incorporated 5

6 PDF Measuring Allows measuring within a PDF document Retains the model units for both the Master as well as Reference files Enable measuring in in the PDF pltcfg. Requires Enable Commenting and Analysis in Adobe Reader to be enabled via Acrobat Pro Only then can PDFs be measured in Adobe Reader Bentley Systems, Incorporated Printing 3D Design Geometry to a 3D PDF Ensure that Enable Plot to 3D is on in the driver. View, pan, zoom, rotate, and search these embedded i-models in a PDF document. 11 Create new PDF from i-model Create an i-model from a design file From Adobe Acrobat, select File > Create > PDF From File. In the Files of type list box, select Bentley i-model (*.dgn).
